the words i wrote out of desperation

in the darkest hours hidden from light

you chewed up and spat back out

only to be blinded by the spark

but if i ran into the shadow

to keep my grief a secret

how can i expect you to know

the pain i felt behind it all

i want nothing more than rage

to break the ice above my head

to yell until you listen to me

to make you live through the pain

but perhaps this is where i learn

the lesson laid out before me

the bravest thing i can do

is to struggle without your approval
