In A Single Lifetime
If only, in just one lifetime, we can have all the answer to our questions.
If only, in just one lifetime, we can know for sure the reason for our existence.
If only, in just one lifetime, we can grasp the truth amidst all uncertainties in the era we live in,
And that our hearts and souls can remain at ease with the exactitude of things...
... Maybe there could be peace.
If only, in just one lifetime, we can forget deep-seeded hatred to one another.
If only, in just one lifetime, we can learn to forgive generation's worth of sin.
If only, in just one lifetime, we can bring down the kind of walls we built with centuries-old ideologies,
And open our eyes to the beauty of being in unity with our brethren...
... Maybe there could be serenity.
If only, in just one lifetime, all of us can see our Father Almighty in the flesh.
If only, in just one lifetime, we can all be audiences to His grand sermon.
If only, in just one lifetime, we can witness in the subtlest way what His plan for our lives are,
And be able to go on with our lives knowing that there is hope beyond our tunnels...
... Maybe there could be prosperity.
But...
All of these are nothing but wishes we can never attain in just one lifetime.
All of these are mere yearnings of that little voice of our spirits.
All of these are simply pictures we painted out of our hearts' desires and hanged high up the wall that
We can only see and not reach.
But then, there's a thing called love.
It may not hold all the answers to our questions,
But it gives you the faith to go on without question.
It may not be the kind of life's purpose you are hoping for,
But you were created because of it.
It may not hold all the truth in the world
But with it you get the patience to see through the lies people tell
And see the truth that lies beneath.
And so ...
With love, we can forget deep-seeded hatred to one another.
With love, we can learn to forgive generation's worth of sin.
With love, we can bring down the kind of walls we built with centuries old ideologies,
And open our eyes to the beauty of being in unity with our brethren.
With love, we don't have to see the Father Almighty in the flesh.
With love, we are already audiences to His grand sermon.
With love, we don't have to see beyond what He wants us to see to know the plans He has for us,
For there is already hope beyond our tunnels.
We can all do these although it may not be in a single lifetime.
But then again, how do we define lifetime?
We are merely humans with a finite view and understanding of life and even of time.
And as we were told, our lives don't end when our time on earth runs out.
We can make a difference in a single lifetime after all.
And we can start with the thing that brought us here...
... His Love.
