Chapter Twenty-Seven
{Hey guys, so this chapter changes character's perspectives quite a bit so to make it run a bit smoother I am putting an ~ before it switches.}
The night was peaceful and a cool breeze was floating in through the cracked open window in Percy and Annabeth's living room. All was calm, and everything felt right.
Annabeth lay atop the sofa, Percy at her feet. He smiled as she diligently scanned the parenting magazine she'd picked up recently.
"You look so cute when you're concentrating," said Percy, a smile curling upon his lips. Annabeth, in response, burrowed her eyebrows and nodded. "What are you even reading about?"
Her intense stormy eyes scanned the page word by word. She reached a small finger to her mouth as a shushing motion. "I'll...I'll let you know, uh, soon...."
Her vague response made Percy anxious. He started tapping his fingers on her leg and bouncing his knees up and down. His ADHD got worst when he wanted to know something someone else did.
After a long minute or so, Annabeth opened her mouth to speak. Her voice was small and unnerving. "Percy, we're so unprepared..."
"What are you talking about? We already have the hospital bag packed three months early!" Percy replied, shoving off her concerns.
"No, that's not what I mean." Her voice was stern but her lips were trembling. "Where is the baby going to live?"
Percy rolled his eyes and lifted her feet off of his lap. He placed them down and stood up, stretched, then headed to the kitchen. "Here, wise girl. That was easy, throw a hard one at me!"
"Percy, where? And in what? Did you know babies need special seating?" exclaimed Annabeth.
Although her tone was strict, Percy's confident did not waver. "I did know that. We have time, Annie. Three months. We can buy stuff then."
"But you see here," Annabeth started, heaving herself to her feet, the magazine still in her hand, "that this baby shop is having a huge sale on all special seats. And cribs. And all other supplies."
Percy blinked at her. "Oh, cool. When is that? Like, next weekend?"
"Tomorrow," Annabeth responded. "It's tomorrow! I bet that people are already lined up to get in...."
"How big of a sale is this?" he asked, yanking the magazine out of her hands. His eyes quickly scanned the page, and he saw a giant 50% in the main part of the add. "Okay, that's pretty huge. We're going to need some back up on this."
"Back up...?" Annabeth asked as Percy whipped out his phone.
Percy went on to his messages and clicked on a group chat called Totally awesome demigodness and cursed that Leo could have group chat naming privileges.
After typing out and sending his message, he got several replies, all in the span of ten minutes.
The next morning all of those messaged had arrived at Percy and Annabeth's now crowded apartment.
"So," Annabeth started, addressing the tired crowd of demigods before her. "Our goal is to get the best prices on stuff. We've made groups and we've made shopping lists. Percy shall distribute them."
Percy nodded and scrambled to pass out lists. "Nico and Will will be collecting the items on list one. Frank and Piper will be collecting list two. Leo and I will be collecting list three. Calypso, Hazel and Jason will be here at base."
"Base? You two are taking this way too seriously," Nico murmured, although a slight smile crept onto his lips.
Annabeth shrugged. "You gotta do what you gotta do. I'll be stationed at the registers, so text me when you're ready and I'll flag someone down. Once you're done with your list you help pack it all into the van. Then you'll be assisting other groups until we have everything. Understood?"
All the demigods, afraid of the power Annabeth was radiating, nodded and stayed silent. They nodded swiftly, and Leo even bowed.
"Alright, demigods, let's go!"

Hazel wasn't quite keen on Annabeth's plan, hell, almost none of them were. But Annabeth was terrifying, pregnant or not. And Hazel did not want to get on her bad side.
"What are we even doing here?" Calypso asked as she bitterly braided a strand of her hair. "I'm so boooooooored...."
Although Calypso wasn't a demigod and didn't have ADHD, she got bored easily, which was one of the reasons she fancied Leo.
Then, as and idea struck Jason, a smile appeared on his face. "Guys, then let's do something."
Calypso dropped the strand of hair she was starting to braid, clearly interested in Jason's plan. "And what do you propose?"
"Well, Hazel's an amazing artist," Jason started as she motioned to Hazel. Her face flashed bright red. "And Calypso runs a garage with lots of supplies."
"So?" asked Hazel hesitantly.
Jason sighed, saddened that the group hadn't gotten his idea yet. "I'm saying that you two should drive out to Leo and Calypso's garage and buy some painting supplies. Then Hazel can paint the nursery!"
Hazel's practically jumped with joy. "Jason, that's an amazing idea! I say we go now. And you can stay here and wait in case they return!"
Calypso, seeking something more interesting than her current situation, smiled and pulled out her keys. "We better make this quick, Hazel."

As soon as Percy pulled into a parking spot, Annabeth was spurred herself into motion. She jumped out of the car and started barking orders.
Percy was terrified. He'd never seen her like that before. Not even in battles.
"You stay here, I'll be by the cash register. Be ready to load up!" Annabeth yelled at him.
"Wait! I'm confused," Percy lied. Annabeth's face dropped and she ran back over to him.
"What-what's the matter? I thought I had it planned so well-" she started rambling. Before she could finish Percy pulled her into a brief kiss.
"Remember to stay calm. Everything will be alright."
Annabeth nodded and brushed her hands against her lips. "Will d-do, Seaweed Brain."

After the sale was over and everything was packed up, Annabeth finally released a sigh she didn't realize she was holding.
Becoming a parent was terrifying. For her, at least. When Percy was calm and collected, she was almost dying in the inside. Since when did Percy get so good at this stuff?
Once they arrived back at their apartment, she waited until everyone else was already headed inside the building.
"Perce?" she asked weakly, a small bag propped up in her arms. Percy closed the trunk before she walked over to her, a grin on his face. "Thanks."
Percy furrowed his eyebrows. "For what? You were the mastermind behind all of this. You're a genius."
"Aww, don't flatter me," replied Annabeth with a small laugh. "Besides, today you reminded me of why we're doing this. Not for some huge sale. There will be others. We'll be okay. So, uh, thank you for that."
Percy's grin widened. He wrapped an arm around Annabeth. "Come on, let's get inside."
After walking up the large and winding staircase (which Percy complained the whole way why they should have an elevator as pregnant women and disabled people in wheelchairs may need elevators) they arrived at their home.
As they opened the door they were met with the sight of bags and paint cans.
They immediately rushed to the spare bedroom as a trail of paint drops and footprints led them there.
"Uh, what's going on in-?" Percy started as he opened the door. There everyone stood waiting. Hazel, Calypso, and Jason were covered in different colors of paint. The rest of their friends stood guiltily among them.
The ceiling was painted a light blue and vivid clouds covered the ceiling. The walls were a light gray. A giant and elegant outline of a great oak tree was painted in white on one wall and its leaves were displayed on all of the walls.
Annabeth's heart almost stopped. "Did....did you guys do all this....?"
Her voice was small and amazed. Her mouth was agape and her expression had softened. She placed the bag she'd been holding down and slowly walked over to the the three covered in paint. She pulled them into a hug, completely disregarding the paint.
"I love you guys," Annabeth said, tears forming in her eyes. "I have the best friends in the whole world."
