27. Bleeding Gold

The Kanima venom had finally worn off after minutes of trying to move. My body--Stiles' body--still felt weak from the effects from it, but at least I was up on my feet again. I grit my teeth as I bring my free hand over on top of Stiles' wounded arm, which was wrapped in that cloth Allison had given me before taking off. I need to find her.

I noticed that blood was already seeping through the cloth, but that was the least of my worries. I expected to hear werewolves fighting and gunshots ringing throughout the police department, but instead I heard deathly silence that chilled me to the core. I knew something was coming, and I knew it wasn't going to be good.

I hopple my way out of the room and start down the hall as my mind gets lost, trying to quickly think about what was happening with me. I was in Stiles' body, but where did Stiles' mind go? Was he gone for good or was he just buried deep down and had no clue what was happening? I knew I wasn't going to get an answer anytime soon.

I wanted nothing more that to get myself out of Stiles' body, one reason being because I wanted to prove more of help as my own self, along with that Allison would recognize me that way. She was lost somewhere in her own world, and I had a feeling that she wasn't going to listen to Stiles claim that he was me. She might believe me, but she wouldn't be as impacted as she would be normally...at least I thought.

"Stiles!" I hear someone fiercely whisper, causing my eyes to whip around and see Scott standing there. It felt weird that he could actually see me and that I was talking to someone other than Allison, but it just made me feel even more alive.

I'm not sure what to say. "What's happening? Where's Matt?"

Scott runs towards me, stopping in front of me as he scanned the hall for other signs of danger. "The Argents are here. Allison seems...off. She told me to stay out of her way before she disappeared. Matt is somewhere back in that room, hopefully not a threat for the time being."

My heart sinks at this, knowing that if Allison wasn't trusting Scott at the moment, she sure as hell wouldn't trust me. "We need to find her-"

"We need to get you to the hospital," Scott says as he looks down at my arm, where my hand was still covering over my wound.

I shake my head, wanting nothing more than to convince him otherwise. "No-I'm fine. Allison-"

"I'll take care of her, okay?" Scott says, furrowing his eyebrows. Probably because I was more worried about Allison than Stiles ever would be. "Come on-"

I stay in my place as Scott tries to lead me down the hall. "I'm not leaving without her."

Scott shakes his head. "What's up with you?"

The words get caught in my throat, not sure how to explain myself. Luckily, I didn't have to. Instead, the sound of werewolf growls and fighting filled the hallway, causing Scott to look back towards the sound. I could tell that he was torn between helping his best friend and helping Derek, but he knew what was right.

"I'll be back," Scott says as he takes a few steps backwards. "Get out of here, okay?"

I nod my head stiffly, but I don't mean it. In an instance, Scott disappears into a cloud of smoke, leaving me alone once again. My head focuses back on the task at hand: find Allison.

I turn around as I run through the hall, scanning each room for Allison or a sign for anyone. I can't even find Matt or Melissa before I'm slamming myself into an unknown room, one that looked like their "office" area. There were multiple shelves for mail and other documents, along with a couple of desks lined up. I could hardly see still; the smoke had seeped into this room as well.

It was deathly quiet as I tried to see through the smoke, not doing so well. The gunshot wound on my arm felt like it had almost stopped bleeding, but it still hurt like hell. As much as I wanted to go to the hospital and get it stitched up for Stiles, I had to find Allison. I pushed on through the pain.

"Allison?" I whisper loudly, having some type of gut feeling that she was in here somewhere. She had to be. There weren't any other options.

I hear something that sounds like footsteps as I walk towards them, pressing my free hand against the shelf I was by to help guide me. My eyes narrowed into tiny slits, hoping that this action would help me see better, but it only made things worse. If I wasn't stuck in Stiles' body right now, I could find Allison a lot easier than what I was trying to do now.

I start to whisper Allison's name again, but soon I stop short, my blood running cold. I hear a faint little hissing sound from behind me up above, causing me to turn around slowly. My eyes trail up the shelf before I'm met with bright yellow reptilian eyes, almost as if they were burning into my soul; well, Stiles' soul that is.

I hold back my scream as the Kanima hisses again, this time much louder. My brain tries to tell my feet to turn and run, to get as far away from here as possible, but I'm frozen in place. The Kanima leaps forwards then, landing on me as it knocks me to concrete below.

My amber eyes are wide as can be as I stare into it's eyes, finding no humanity behind them. Whenever I had looked into Jackson's eyes, there was a little shred of compassion in them, but now that I saw him transformed into this, it was like whatever there had been was completely stripped away. Like he was becoming more and more like this creature with every passing moment.

It's long tongue forces out another long hiss before raising it's claws, shining in the pale light. A little drop of venom drips from them, knowing what was coming, but I wasn't afraid. If I had felt anything in that moment, it was failure. I had failed to find Allison and help her, and I had failed in keeping Stiles' body safe. I had failed everyone.

Right before the Kanima is about to dig it's claws into me, something from the side goes flying straight into the middle of it's head. The sound of flesh tearing makes my skin crawl, and I so desperately wanted to squeeze my eyes shut and pretend that I couldn't hear it, but after I had seen that the object was an arrow, I knew that it had to be Allison.

I thought that it was over right then; that she had killed Jackson without giving a second thought, but I was wrong. The Kanima falls back slightly from the impact, but soon it sits back up and looks her dead in the eyes. It's scaly hands reach up and pull the arrow out before dropping it to the ground beside me, letting out another long hiss at her.

"Allison!" I say before I hear feet turning and running away, along with the Kanima jumping off and bolting off after her. I knew that I had to help her. She could protect herself, but after seeing what I had just witnessed, I knew that was going to be a lot harder than she thought.

I sit up before scrambling to my feet, looking down the aisle where Allison and the Kanima had taken off. I couldn't see that far because of the smoke, but I didn't care. I took off running down the aisle as I tried to search for the two, but first I needed to find a weapon.

I stop at one of the desks I had seen earlier from entering the room, opening up all of the drawers in search for a gun. I eventually find a pistol in the third drawer I opened, filled with amo. I've never shot a gun before, but I guess everyone learns eventually. I grip it in my sweaty and bloody hands as I hear hissing farther down the room, causing me to take off towards the sound.

I stop in my tracks when I finally see what was happening, arriving at a scene that I desperately wish wasn't happening. Firstly, there was the Kanima standing on top of one of the desks on all fours, looking underneath it as if it knew Allison was there. But that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that Allison was in mid air, jumping towards the Kanima, dagger in hand.

I curse out loud before she penetrates the knife into the Kanima's neck, it hissing in pain. I'm frozen still as the Kanima clasps it's claws around her neck, causing me to take aim at it. I close one eyes as I tried to focus on the middle of it's head, but I was scared that I would hit Allison.

She glances at me out of the corner of her eye, but she soon looks down towards her boot, grabbing another dagger before hitting the Kanima once again. He doesn't seem affected as my hands shake, my heart racing. I needed to shoot him now, but I was deathly afraid. It seemed as if he hadn't noticed me yet, so I had an advantage.

Allison gasps before I see it's claws swiping to the side, literally making my heart stop. I thought that he had seriously hurt Allison, but I had then seen that he only paralyzed her. Her hair falls down in front of her face as the Kanima looks down at her, this being my one and only chance.

My ears ring as I pull the trigger, praying to God that I had hit my target. The bullet soars through the air before hitting the Kanima dead in the neck, not being my initial target, but it was as close as I was going to get. Allison's eyes are wide as she watches blood pour from it's neck, it's claws clasped around it.

I lower the gun shakily as a small smile forms on my lips, glad that I had actually fired a gun. I had actually done something useful for a change. I don't have much time to relish in my tiny victory before something hard hits me against the back of my head, causing me to fall forwards. My head pounds as I try to stand back up, but I felt as if all of my energy had been completely drained.

"Always trying to be the hero, aren't you Stiles?" Matt snarls before I feel his boot hit me on the side. "Although, I'm liking the new weapon choice. A gun is much more effective than a bat."

My lips curl in anger as I reach towards my gun, my hand just inches away from it. I was about to grab it and kill Matt myself before a pair of claws dig into my forearm, causing me to let out a loud and painful scream. I notice then that it's the Kanima, getting it's revenge for what I had done to it. I feel the toxin course through my body before I'm no longer able to move, feeling completely useless once again.

Matt walks away from me as he goes to Allison, kneeling down so that he was closer to her. He brushes the hair out of her face as I grunt, trying to form words in my mouth. My tongue felt frozen as I watched him smile down at her, her face shocked and terrified as can be.

"Remember how I said I'm not the kind of guy that would say 'well if I can't have her, no one can'?" Matt says, relaxed. It makes me furious. "It's not totally true because, Allison...if I can't have you, no one can!"

"Fu..." I say, stuttering on my own words. Matt looks up at me then, furrowing his eyebrows.

"What was that, Stiles?" he says, sounding like a complete smart ass.

"F-Fuck you," I stumble out, feeling a tiny bit better about myself. Matt just smiles and chuckles at me before he stands, walking out of the room without another word. Jackson runs off as well, leaving Allison and I the last ones in here.

"Allison-" I stutter as I try to move, still not being able to. "I-It's me, Corey."

Allison's chest heaves up and down. "Corey?"

"I'm inside of Stiles somehow," I say, hearing more fighting coming from another room. "I don't know what to do."

Allison looks like she goes numb again. "There's nothing to do. We lost."

"We didn't lose," I say, but Allison is soon firing back a reply.

"People died!" she screams, somehow having more energy than me at the moment. "Those police officers, the people we tried to save, and my mother. My own mother died because of Derek, Corey. I...I know I'm not thinking straight, but I don't care. Derek has to pay for what he did, and I don't care who I have to go through in order to justify it."

My jaw falls open, more than surprised and hurt to hear her say that. "You'd go through Scott?"

Allison is quiet for a moment before she speaks, her tone as cold as ice.

"I'd go through you if I had to."

MY POOR FRAGILE HEART

But can we talk about how bad ass Corey is? My little child actually fired a gun! I freaking love writing about him.

Things are slowly starting to unfold guys, the end is drawing near. You think you might know what's going to happen by the end of this book, but oh boy do I think I'm going to surprise you. At least that's my plan anyways.

I want chicken nuggets.
