24. Gut Feeling
I had tried to run towards the gun shots, but I couldn't cross that damn barrier to get over there. After trying my hardest to push through and get to the other side, along with trying to teleport across it, nothing would work. I was mad enough as it was, but I had just decided to follow after Stiles, since maybe I'll be able to watch over at least one person tonight.
He had taken me to a little room behind the building, one that looked like had been put together in a mere ten minutes. Stiles rips the door open as it squeaks, only to be met by Erica and Isaac about to claw out his throat.
"It's just me!" Stiles squawks as they back off, seeming to be a little on edge. I wasn't sure why though until I stepped inside myself, seeing Jackson sitting there passed out in a chair.
Stiles closes the door as he walks further inside, staring at Jackson. "How is he doing?"
Isaac's claws extend as he steps forwards. "I guess we'll find out."
My eyes narrow as I watch Isaac throw his claws towards Jackson's chest, only for Jackson's hand to fly up and grab it. I jump back for some odd reason as he twists Isaac's hand, earning gasps of pain and the sound of bone breaking from Isaac. Jackson finally lets him go before Isaac is jumping backwards, getting as far away from Jackson as possible.
Stiles scolds Issac. "Okay, never try something like that again!"
"I thought that stuff was supposed to put him out," Isaac gasps as he grabs his forearm.
Stiles shakes his head. "Yeah, well apparently this is all we're going to get. So let's just hope that whoever is controlling him decided to show up tonight."
I sigh before I look back at Jackson, just in time to see his eyes flash open suddenly, a demonic look on his face. Erica notices it as well before she grabs Stiles' shoulder, jerking him so that he would look as well. The four of us stand in awe as Jackon's eyes narrow, gritting his teeth.
"I'm here. I'm right here with you."
A chill runs down my spine as Stiles steps forwards, bending down so that he's looking straight into Jackson's eyes. "Jackson, is that you?"
Jackon's eyes looked lifeless. "Us. We're all here."
"Are you the one killing people?" Stiles says before glancing back at Isaac and Erica.
Jackson is silent for a moment. "We're the ones killing murderers."
"So all the people you killed so far-"
"Deserved it," Jackson finishes, his tone rising.
Stiles stares back at him. "You see, we've got a rule book that says you only go after murderers."
"Anything can break if enough pressure is applied," Jackson says dully.
Stiles' eyes narrow as I walk forwards. "So all of the people you've killed were murderers then?"
"All. Each. Every one," Jackson says.
Stiles gulps. "Well, who did they murder?"
"Me."
We all look around at one another before Stiles is furrowing his eyebrows. "What? What do you mean?"
Jackson sucks in a deep breath before his eyes flip to their reptile ones. "They murdered me."
Stiles jumps back and stands next to Erica and Isaac as I take a step back as well, not really sure why because he couldn't hurt me. "Alright, the guy needs more Ketamine. Get him some more."
"We're all out," Isaac says while holding up the bottle, causing Stiles to rip it from his hands.
"You used the whole bottle!"
Erica slaps Stiles' shoulder, causing all of us to look back at Jackson. My eyes widen when I see Jackson stand, almost fully transformed again. Stiles grabs Erica's shoulders before pushing her out. "Alright everyone out, now!"
Everyone evacuates as I do as well, stepping back to get a bigger picture of what was happening. Erica, Isaac, and Stiles slam the door shut as they try and hold it there, pressing their bodies up against it. "Someone get something to hold the door shut-"
Before anyone can move, Jackson is bursting through the side of the room, now fully transformed. My eyes bulge as he runs down the ally and back into the party, back to where Allison was. Before I'm even thinking, I'm bolting back inside after the creature, desperate now to find Allison.
"Allison!" I scream at the top of my lungs, my eyes scanning the room. People were still dancing and lights flicked on and off; it was hard to see faces. It made me grow even more worried.
The next thing I know, I'm teleporting around the party, scanning each and every face that I could see. I do this for he next couple of minutes, not finding Allison anywhere. I was about to go search outside before I found Matt, sitting there alone.
"No," I fade out, seeing him sitting there on the couch with an angry yet sad look in his eyes. I storm up to him as I search around the area, still not finding Allison anywhere. I grit my teeth as I look back at Matt, shouting even though he couldn't hear me. "What kind of guy leaves their date!"
Rage burns inside of me as I try to punch him, it just going through like all of the other times I've tried to do so. I keep doing this as my mind goes numb, not sure what to exactly think. I couldn't find Allison, or the Kanima, and it just felt like I had lost all hope.
Like I had given up.
Matt eventually gets up and leaves as I shake my head, my hands feeling as if they were on fire. I felt like I was about to explode, at least until I decided to go find Scott. If Allison would be with anyone else right now, it would be Scott. At least, I hoped.
I'm soon running through the party and back outside, hoping to find Scott out here somewhere. Instead of finding Scott, I find Allison standing there, Gerard's hand clasped around her bicep.
"Oh thank God," I breathe as Allison glances back at me, a worried look on her face.
Gerard smiles that creepy smile that he's so good at. "We better get you out of here."
"It didn't work. N-None of it worked-" Allison says, sounding flustered.
"Oh I wouldn't say that," Gerard says. "In fact, I would say that the prognosis isn't as dire as it seems...not nearly."
--------
"First off, let me start with what in the hell happened tonight," I say as I sit in the back seat of Allison's car, ranting. "The plan tonight sucked, Jackson about killed your friend, and then there's this douche that I can't believe actually left you at that party."
I glare at Matt, who was sitting in Allison's passenger seat because she was taking him home. Allison doesn't say anything because she can't, so she just gives me a sassy look in the rearview mirror. I ignore her glance as I continue on.
"Then Jackson had said that whoever his master was had been murdered, so that's why they're killing those people," I say as I run my fingers through my hair. "What is that even supposed to mean?"
I'm either cut off or ignored as Allison stops in front of a house, parking the car before turning to Matt. She doesn't say anything as she looks awkward, almost as if she was just waiting for him to get out without saying goodbye.
"So..about that incredibly terrible idea I had," Matt says, his voice fading out.
Allison turns to him. "You mean the kiss?"
My eyes bulge as I start to sit up farther in my seat. "You've got to kidding me-"
"Yeah, that's the one."
"Don't worry about it," Allison says, giving me a look to shut up, even though I was fuming. I might be a little jealous, but what made me more mad was that it was with him. Matt; the douche that gave me terrible vibes.
"For real?" Matt says, furrowing his eyebrows. Allison nods her head as he nods back, looking as if he was about to get out before something bothered him. "So, is there another guy?"
Allison cocks her head to the side. "Huh?"
"You acted like there was someone else," Matt says, his voice fading. "Like you had someone else on your mind."
Allison shakes her head as she awkwardly scratches her neck. "No-I mean, it's complicated."
Matt grabs her hand then, causing me to groan and throw myself back into the seat. "Well, I had fun tonight."
"Me too," Allison says, but I can tell she's lying through her teeth. Matt finally lets her hand go and gets out of the car as I sit back up, shaking my head at Allison.
"What?" she says, furrowing her eyebrows.
I raise mine. "You guys kissed?"
Allison sulks. "Yeah, but it was nothing. I-I can't ever see myself being with him."
"Oh," I say dryly before Allison's eyes trail away from mine, causing her to reach down into the seat and pull out a camera. I narrow my eyes, knowing that it had to be Matt's.
"Look at the pictures," I taunt as Allison holds the camera, giving me a funny look.
"I'm not going to invade his privacy," Allison says stubbornly.
I shake my head. "Come on, just look at a few. I doubt he'll mind."
Allison hesitates, but soon she's turning it on and flipping through a few of the pictures. The first five or six were ones at Lacrosse games; including the game itself and a few of the players. Then Allison turns it to the next one, seeing that it was of her in the stands at the game.
We didn't think much of it until she flipped to the next one, it being of her as well, but this time, it was her sitting in class. I narrow my eyes when the next photo was of her sitting alone outside of school, reading a book. By the time she reached the one of her in her bed, I was already fuming and ready to beat the living shit out of this guy.
Both of us jump when we hear a knock at the window, seeing Matt standing there looking inside. Allison clasps onto the camera as Matt waits for her to unlock the door, but she doesn't move.
"Don't let him in," I say, terrified for her. "Don't open the door."
"Allison?" Matt says, furrowing his eyebrows. I could tell that he was on to her.
Allison freaks out for a moment before rolling the window down, which I guess was a better move rather than unlocking the door. "I forgot my bag."
"Oh-yeah, yeah," Allison says, sounding a little obvious. I'm on the edge of my seat as Matt reaches down and grabs the bag, Allison handing him the camera as well.
"Some cool pictures in there, don't you think?" he says, smiling slightly. My hands bawl into fists.
Allison nods her head. "Yeah, um, the lacrosse ones were really good. You're really talented-I was really impressed."
Matt smirks slightly. "There's a good can of you in there too."
"Really?" Allison says, gulping.
Matt nods back towards his house. "You can come see some of the others too, if you'd like. They're inside on my computer."
"You're so dead-"
"That would be nice, but maybe another night," Allison says, pursing her lips.
Matt leans closer inside the car. "Just for a few minutes."
"It's getting kinda late," Allison spits this time, making it obvious that she didn't want to go with him.
Matt scoffs. "It's the weekend."
"I know but, I-"
"And it's Spring Break," Matt continues on. "You don't have a thing going on tomorrow, do you?"
Allison's eyes narrow, starting to officially shut him down. "I should really go."
"You sure?" Matt says as Allison nods her head. He nods back before pulling his head out of the window, causing Allison to take off as soon as he does so. We get a few feet away from Matt as I look back at him, seeing that he was watching her drive off.
"And that is why you trust a dead person's gut feeling."

Next chapter should be about the party, so that should be hella fun, yay!
Guys, I'm so ready for mashed potatoes and stuffing. I love Thanksgiving so much.
