17. Watchdogs
"Allison!" I wail, but I was already too late. My body goes into shock as I watch Isaac grab Allison's arm before twisting it, but not enough to where he could have broken it. Allison lets out a pained gasp before Isaac throws her to the floor, not caring whether or not he could have seriously hurt her.
My knees collapse as I fall next to Allison, my eyes scanning over her face and her arm. Everything was happening too fast that I barely had enough time to double check and make sure she was alright before Isaac backhands Stiles, causing him to drop to the floor as well. Stiles seems stunned for a moment before he crawls away from Isaac, the rug under him all ruffled up from his impact.
Allison starts to sit up as she reaches for her crossbow, ignoring the fact that I was here and desperately wanting to help. Isaac growls towards Stiles as he reaches down and grabs him by the collar; turning and throwing him against the wall. Isaac focuses on Stiles as he goes after him again, leaving Allison alone.
"Go check on Lydia," Allison gasps towards me as she starts to stand.
I shake my head. "I'm not leaving you-"
"Corey!" she yells, but Isaac's growls were too loud for anyone to hear her. "Lydia can't protect herself, so I need you to go help her, okay? Yell if she's in trouble."
I bite my tongue as I nod, not wanting to leave Allison's side. She could protect herself, but I wasn't too sure about her being able to protect herself against a beta werewolf with three of his pack members waiting outside for backup. Plus she was trying to help Stiles, who was human and couldn't protect himself. I wanted to stay with Allison, but I knew that Lydia needed more help.
My lungs become clouded as I watch Allison run towards Isaac, pointing her crossbow at his back. I don't get to watch as I stand and bolt down the hallway, running towards Lydia. I know that I had made her a deal, but I needed to keep her safe. And if breaking that deal did that, then so be it.
I stop short when I see Lydia creeping down the hallway, tears in her eyes. Mascara was starting to leak down her face as I saw that her lipstick was smudged; meaning that her and Jackson more than likely were having some type of make-out session, but that didn't matter. All that mattered was keeping her and everyone else safe.
"What's going on?" she quietly yells down the hall, probably scared out of her freaking mind. I mean, she had no clue what was happening or about the supernatural and she was listening to growls and shouts coming from the living room. If I were her, I really would be going out of my mind.
"Lydia, listen to me," I say, causing her to grab the wall in a scared manor. "It's Allison's friend."
She shakes her head as more tears leak down her pale face. "You told me you'd leave me alone. You told me!"
I lick my lips as I firmly press my fingers into a fist. "I know I did, but this is important. I'm here to protect you."
"I don't need protecting," Lydia spits. "I need you to leave me the hell alone!"
I close my eyes for a moment and take a deep breath. "Do you want to know what's going on?"
Lydia calms as her eyes dart around her, almost as if she was searching for a face to match the voice. "What's happening?"
"Someone is trying to break in," I say, coming up with the best excuse that I possibly could. "You need to hide, can you do that?"
Lydia shakes her head. "Why should I believe you?"
"Because if you don't..." I say, my voice fading. "If you don't then you'll die."
Lydia gasps after I say this, getting the memo that I was trying to reach to her. I could tell that she was still hesitant about trusting a random voice in her head, but she soon turns around and runs back into the room from which she came. My heart races as I follow after her to make sure she'll be okay, since there were werewolves after her after all.
"Jackson!" she cries out as she shuts the door behind her, scanning the room and not finding the boy anywhere. My eyebrows furrow as I search for Jackson as well, not finding him either. Where could he be?
Lydia gasps once again before she turns and runs towards another room, which happened to be a bathroom. I started to follow after her, but I felt weird going in there with her, so I just stayed outside of the door. Besides, that would be the best option to make sure no one got close to her.
My eyes become fixed on an open window in the room before I hear Lydia inside of the bathroom speaking, sounding as if she was talking on the phone.
"Hi-I..I need the police-" she mutters into the phone as my eyes grow wide, worried that the police would show up and learn about everything. Not the fact that there were people out to kill a teenage girl, but about werewolves and that there was a lizard creature lurking around Beacon Hills. Maybe calling the police wasn't the best idea.
I started to tell Lydia to get off of the phone before the door swings open to the bedroom, causing me to take a step back towards the bathroom door. My eyes narrow as I wait for the person to walk around the door, but when they did, I saw that it was only Allison.
"Where is she?" Allison says, desperation in her tone as she shuts the door behind her once again and locks it.
I nod behind me. "She's in the bathroom. She's fine; I swear."
Allison nods before her eyes go to something in the room, causing the both of us to look over towards the open window. I hadn't noticed it before, but there was a type of goo dripping from the top; which I soon identified as Kanima venom.
"Stiles!" Allison screams behind her. "It's here!"
I don't hear a reply before the door swings open yet again, the lock on the door flying across the room. I clench my hands into fists as Allison turns and points her crossbow towards the person's face, her finger dancing over the trigger. It was then that I saw it was Erica.
Here comes that cat fight I was talking about.
"The bitch has arrived," Erica says sarcastically, obviously mocking how Allison had called her that earlier today. "Now, where is that red head?"
A little red light coming from Allison's crossbow stays over Erica's chest as I take a step forward. "Shoot her, Allison."
"You're never going to get her," Allison says, not even the slightest hint of fear in her voice. "She's not like you."
Erica laughs. "Oh I know she isn't like me. She has scales for skin and a tail...pretty sure I don't have either of those."
"That's not what I meant," Allison says while raising her chin. "What I meant is that she isn't a cold, heartless monster like you."
Erica presses her hand to her chest as she acts as if that hurt her. "That really hurt, Allison. At least I don't have a psychotic Aunt."
Allison tightens her grip. "Don't you dare talk about her-"
"I heard all about her," Erica smirks as she takes a step closer. "I heard about how she killed all of those innocent people, about how she tortured Derek, and about how she manipulated an idiot like you. It probably wasn't that hard; considering the fact that you were weak. You were too weak to face the truth and you believed her...goes to show how "strong" you really are Allison. Let's see if you really can protect yourself."
Some type of anger courses through my veins as I stared at Erica, seeing nothing but hatred in her eyes. The way she spoke to Allison and the way that she had hurt her was enough for me; enough for me to literally rip her head off. I started to go after her, whether I could hurt her or not, but before I could do anything, Allison pulled the trigger.
I take a step back as I watch Erica catch the arrow in her hand, her hair flinging over her shoulder from the quick movement. My nails dig into the palm of my hand as I watch her turn back towards Allison, laughing in her face. But what I couldn't understand was that Allison still didn't seem scared.
"Weak and pathetic?" Erica laughs. "I guess you're a bigger disappointment than I thought you were."
"Disappointment?" Allison says, scoffing. "Might want to rethink that."
Erica furrows her eyebrows before she opens her hand slowly, revealing that the Kanima venom was on the arrow. A smile forms on my face as I look over at Allison, seeing her smirking at the blonde. Erica gasps before she falls to the ground, completely paralyzed from the neck down.
Allison lowers her bow before she walks over to Erica and gets onto her knees, brushing Erica's hair out of the way. "I thought you were psychic...bitch."
Erica chokes on her words as she tries to say something, but nothing comes out. Allison starts to lean away from her before she stops, looking as if she had just remembered something.
"Oh, and she isn't a red head," Allison says, a smirk still plastered onto her face. "It's strawberry blonde."
I laugh slightly as Allison stands, glaring down at Erica. She smiles faintly as she looks over at me, knowing that she just won that fight. Whether that only be the first battle of many, I didn't know, but I sure hoped that that was the end. I couldn't imagine if Erica went after Allison again.
"Allison!" Scott shouts before he runs into the room, his hands pressing up against the doorway. He stops when he sees Erica laying on the floor with Allison standing above her, crossbow still in hand. Scott doesn't say anything more after he sees that Allison is okay, but he instead grabs Erica by the feet and drags her to the door, taking her and Isaac and throwing them outside next to Derek.
We all step out onto the porch as we stare at Derek and Boyd, knowing that we had protected Lydia...for now. We knew that we had bought a lot of time, but hopefully it was enough to save her.
"I think I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me Scott," Derek says, his voice still dark and cold. "You're not an Omega. You're already an Alpha of your own pack. But you know you can't beat me."
Scott narrows his eyes. "I can hold you off until the cops get here."
Derek's face drains as we listen to the sirens off in the distance, myself glad that Lydia had called the cops now. If she wouldn't have, then Derek would more than likely be ripping everyone apart by now. We all listen for a moment before something else comes across my ears; that sound being hissing.
We all glance at one another before we all run off of the porch, looking up on the roof to see that lizard creature walking across the roof. It turns and looks at us with it's bright eyes before hissing loudly, turning and scampering off of the roof. It hisses some more before disappearing into the woods, leaving all of us alone.
Derek glares over at us slightly before he looks down at Erica and Isaac. "Get them out of here."
Boyd starts to lean down towards them before the sound of heals clicking come from the porch, causing us to look up and see Lydia walking out. "Can someone please explain to me what the hell is going on?"
Derek's eyes grow wide as he looks over at us, realizing that he in fact was wrong. I mean, we knew all along that Lydia wasn't the Kanima, but that meant one other thing.
"Jackson is the Kanima."
