06. Perks of Being Dead

"Allison!" I yelled as I ran back to the crime scene, finding her sitting in the back of one of the ambulances. My heart races before I see that she was sitting there with Lydia, talking to her quietly. Allison's eyes flick up to me for a moment before she shakes her head, telling me to keep quiet for a moment.

I could hardly stand keeping what I had saw away from her. "Allison, this is important-"

"Everything is going to be fine Lydia," Allison says, talking over me on purpose. I groan, angry that she wouldn't listen to me. I understood she didn't want to talk to me when there were other people around, but this was urgent.

Allison rubs Lydia's back before Allison's phone rings, causing her to pull it out. I glance down at her phone, seeing that it was Scott calling her. She looks back up at Lydia for a moment before standing, walking away slowly.

"I'll be right back Lydia, okay?" Allison says as Lydia nods slowly. Lydia turns back and stares down at the ground before I turn and follow Allison. She walks away from the people before pressing the phone to her ear, talking to Scott.

"What is it?" she says, almost sounding like she knew something was wrong. I can't hear whats on the other end, but it makes Allison's face turn white. "They what?" She's quiet again before shaking her head, closing her eyes. "Just meet me in the woods in thirty minutes. Tell me what happened there."

Allison hangs up the phone then before looking over at me. "Where were you?"

"That's what I've been trying to tell you," I say, sighing slightly. "I needed to tell you about-"

"Lydia? How you found her in the woods?" Allison says, her voice rising slightly. "What did you do to her?"

I furrow my eyebrows. "I didn't do anything to her. She was the one who screamed and did something to me."

"What?" Allison says, a wrinkle forming on her forehead.

I nod. "It was weird like-it was like a vision or a dream of some sort. There was a man and woman standing there, talking to my friend-"

"Jade?" Allison questions while crossing her arms.

I nod again. "Yeah. She was on the ground and almost looked like she was crying. The man kept asking her who she was."

Allison shakes her head. "So you're telling me that Lydia made you see a vision?"

"Or a dream," I correct. "Either way, she did something to screw up my brain."

Allison sighs before glancing over at Lydia, who was now talking to the buzz headed kid, Stiles. "What did I do to her?"

Allison turns back to me. "I'm not exactly sure. She kept saying that she heard something in her head; like a voice. She told me that it said that it was my friend. Only person I know who no one else can see is you."

I place my arms on my head. "So she can hear me, but why?"

Allison runs her purple painted nails through her hair. "I don't know, but we'll figure it out soon. I promise."

I nod before motioning to her phone. "What did Scott want?"

Allison sighs again. "He said that he saw something out in the woods. He said that it was-"

"Gerard and your father?" I finish her sentence.

Allison furrows her eyebrows before shaking her head. "Yeah. How did you know?"

I lick my lips. "I was there. I saw what happened."

Allison widens her eyes before looking over her shoulder, making sure no one was listening. She wraps her hands around my arms, which felt nice since I haven't been able to touch anything in quite some time, before she drags me behind her car, farther away from everyone.

"Explain to me what happened, and I mean everything," she says, her face serious.

So, I told her about finding Scott and Derek there hiding behind a tree, the hobo looking werewolf, and most importantly how her grandfather sliced him in half. I couldn't read her face the whole time I told her, but at the end, she sure had a lot to say.

"They aren't following the code anymore?" Allison says, staring at the ground as she shakes her head. "They have to follow the code. That's the way it's always been."

"Well, it appears to me that they don't give a shit anymore," I say, raising my eyebrows. "Gerard made it quite clear that he was practically getting revenge since Peter killed his daughter."

Allison shakes her head again. "But not following the code is what got Kate killed in the first place. Hunters will come after them; they can't just do whatever they want, especially if they're killing werewolves without proof they spilled human blood."

I sigh, knowing that this was the beginning to all of this. "What does all of this mean exactly? That he's declaring war on all werewolves?"

"Yeah," Allison says before looking up at me slowly. "And it means he'll kill any werewolf he can find, including Scott."

"What about Lydia?" I ask, looking over at the strawberry blonde again. "She's not a wolf, but will they still come after her?"

Allison shakes her head. "Probably. All they know is that she was bitten, not that she hasn't even turned. They'll probably come after her sometime or another."

I sigh. "Just great. How did I manage to die, find you, learn about werewolves, and get weird visions about my friend in two days time?"

Allison smiles slightly. "You better get used to it. You're in Beacon Hills now."

I fake smile before Allison turns around, walking back over to Lydia. Her brown curls bounce on her shoulders before she talks to Lydia some more, looking over at Stiles every now and again. I smile to myself as I watch her comfort Lydia, her soft eyes showing concern for her best friend. She really did know how to help people.

"You know you don't have to follow me around all day," Allison says as she walks down the stairs. She was wearing a pretty purple dress and a black cardigan; her hair crimped. She looked really nice.

I sigh. "But if I didn't, who would I have to talk to all day?"

Allison looks over her shoulder before walking into the living room, grabbing the remote. "Here. You can just stay home and watch TV if you'd like."

Allison starts to hand me the remote before it falls through my hand. I give her a pathetic look before looking back up at her. "You seem to forget that I am in fact dead."

Allison gives me a playful glare before picking the remote back up, pointing it towards the TV. "What do you like to watch? Drama, action, suspense-"

"It doesn't matter," I say, crossing my arms. "I'm going with you to school."

Allison sighs. "You know you don't have to-"

"But I want to," I say. "Besides, I want to see what your every day life is like."

Allison flips the TV off before placing the remote back on the table. "Well, prepare to deal with dumb teachers and more supernatural drama."

I grin while rubbing my hands together. "You know, being invisible isn't too bad. You get to watch people up close like a TV show, only it's completely free."

Allison rolls her eyes. "Are you saying that my life is like a TV show?"

I shrug. "It practically is. I mean, you've got the rising action coming along, which is your grandfather, and you have a little mystery going on with Lydia. Not to mention the fact that there's werewolves."

Allison smiles. "You know, it wouldn't surprise me if they made a show about my life."

I grin. "I'd definitely watch it."

Allison smiles at me before turning and grabbing her purse, heading towards the door. I follow after her as we get into her white Toyota, which still had the doritos sitting in it. I swore I heard my stomach growl as I stared at them, but it must have been my imagination.

"Must suck not being able to eat," Allison says while pulling out of the driveway. I nod my head, still staring at the doritos.

"Tell me about it," I say, sighing. I just wanted to dig into a huge pizza and chug a huge glass of Mountain Dew again. There may be perks to being dead, but not being able to eat sure isn't one of them.

My eyes flick away from the bag of chips before I look up and see a photo up on Allison's mirror; one that I haven't noticed before. It was her, Scott, and Stiles all standing there with their arms around one another. It looked like they were at a school, but I couldn't tell for sure.

"When are you going to tell them?" I ask Allison, wondering when she was planning on telling them about me.

Allison looks up at the photo for a moment before sighing. "I'm not sure. I was going to tell them soon, but now with Gerard here and all-"

"You've got too much to worry about," I finish her sentence again.

Allison nods before looking over at me. "Do you want me to tell them?"

I look over at her while making weird hand movements. "I-It doesn't matter to me. Whatever you think."

Allison smiles slightly at me. "You know, you sure are cute when you're acting dorky."

Tingles shoot through my body as my hands begin to sweat. "Cute? You think I'm cute?"

"When you're dorky," Allison corrects while grinning, looking back at the road. I laugh at her before coming up with a reply.

"Well, you are cute yourself whenever you smile. You should do it more often," I say, my heart starting to race in my chest.

Allison smiles as she turns and looks at me, something behind her eyes that I couldn't quite make out. "You really think that?"

I nod my head without thinking. "Of course I think that."

For a moment, there was something between us that hasn't happened before. It was almost like we had some type of connection; like we were more than friends. However, all good things must come to an end. And that end was when I saw a deer standing in the middle of the road.

"Allison-" I start to say before she sees it herself, causing her to swerve to the side. The deer stares at us with wide eyes before leaping into the woods, acting like nothing had happened. Allison swerves for a moment before she slams on the breaks, the car skidding to a halt. She breathes heavily as we're both silent, thinking about what had just happened.

"Nice driving," I say finally, breaking the silence. Allison laughs before resting her forehead on the steering wheel, her hair falling over her face.

"Thanks," she breathes before laughing, realizing what just happened. She sits up finally as I laugh along with her, the car pulling forward once again.

It doesn't take us much longer until we reach the school, which was huge I might add. It wasn't bigger than my school, but it was still large for a high school. Teenagers bustled around in the parking lot as we pulled up next to a blue jeep, parking right next to it. Allison takes a deep breath as she looks at the school.

"What's wrong?" I ask, staring at her. "Nervous or something?"

Allison shakes her head. "No, it just feels like something isn't right. I don't know what though."

I smile. "Well, this is your first day of school with a ghost at your side."

Allison laughs. "You have a good point."

I look up at the school again. "I'm sure everything will be fine, Allison. I'll be there if you need anything."

Allison smiles before looking over at me, that same look on her face as she had a few minutes ago. However, instead of a deer breaking the look this time, there was a loud bang on the window, causing both of us to jump.

"Stiles!" Allison yells as the buzz headed kid presses his face against the window. I laugh a little before Allison gets out of the car, furrowing her eyebrows. "What are you doing?"

Stiles talks quickly. "Scott wanted me to come get you."

"For what?" Allison says, pulling the purse on her arm higher up.

Stiles sighs. "First off, theres a new werewolf that was just arrested-"

"What?" Allison says, widening her eyes. "Who turned them?"

"Derek," Stiles says, panting a little. "But that's not all."

Allison shakes her head. "What do you mean?"

Stiles looks around for a moment before turning back to Allison. "Your grandfather is here, and he's the new school principle."

My Callison feels are getting to me more and more with every chapter.
