05. Chaos Rising

"What are we doing again?" I ask as Allison drives down the road, still in the sweatpants she was planning to wear to bed.

Allison keeps her eyes on the road. "Stiles called me and told me that there was a wreck."

I raise an eyebrow. "And what does that have to do with you?"

Allison glaces over at me for a moment. "We think Lydia might have caused it. The people in the ambulance were mauled."

I widen my eyes. "Oh well that's just wonderful. Is Lydia the one that was bitten but didn't turn to a wolf?"

Allison nods. "Yeah. We aren't sure what she is."

I sigh before looking out the window, staring up at the moon. "Well, what are you planning to do with her when you find her?"

Allison's eyes go wide as her face turns pale. "I didn't get that far."

I scoff before I look up and see an ambulance come into view; one that was completely wrecked. My eyes scan the police men rushing around, the same ones that were at the bridge when Jade and I died. I noticed the Sheriff as well as Allison parked her car to the side, starting to get out of the car before she looks at me.

"You stay here," she says, pointing her manicured nail in my face.

I furrow my eyebrows. "What? Why?"

Allison's face is stern. "Because having you around distracts me. I can't focus on not talking to you and listening to people who are alive talk to me. It's confusing."

I half grin, only pulling "I can't focus on not talking to you" out of what she just said. "So you're saying that I'm annoying?"

Allison sighs. "No Corey. I'm saying that people seeing me talk to air will get me locked away in Eichen House."

I raise an eyebrow before looking out the window. "Well, then you better think of an excuse right now because Stilinski over there has been watching you this whole time."

Allison's face goes white before she looks over at Stiles, seeing him standing there with furrowed eyebrows. "Shit..." she mumbles under her breath before she thinks of a cover, which had me laughing.

She grabs her phone before shoving it to her ear, speaking loud enough so Stiles could hear her. "Can you hear me mom? I just turned off the car bluetooth."

I laugh as she walks away from the car, giving me a stern glance before walking over to Stiles. She lowers her phone before talking to him, the two of them glancing back at the car every now and again. Stiles' expression of confusion eases after she explains to him some lie about me.

For awhile, I just sit in the car and watch the two talk before I started to grow bored. I probably would have slept if I was alive, but since I wasn't, I couldn't do that. I couldn't even shove my face full of Doritos that were sitting in her cup holders.

Being dead sucks.

I decided to get out of the car to pass the time. Allison's back was turned to me, so she wouldn't see me leave. I walk through the car door before standing, seeing the crime scene better than I did in the small car. There was blood splattered on the road and there were two empty gurneys sitting in the middle of the road. Red and blue lights flash from the police cars as they line the scene with yellow tape, hoping to keep people out.

My head whips around when I hear something off in the distance, somewhere deeper in the woods. Chills run down my spine as I stare into the forest, curious as to what I heard yet terrified to go check it out myself. Then I thought again and remembered that I was dead. What was there to be afraid of anymore?

I look back at Allison for a moment, seeing her still talking to Stiles before I decided that she wouldn't miss me being gone. I'll probably only be gone for five minutes at the most. I'll just go check out what I heard and come back.

I take a deep breath before walking into the woods, the leaves from the fall crunching under my feet. A cool breeze runs across my bare arms as the sound of people talking slowly started to fade. It was almost dead silent as I went deeper into the woods, scanning everywhere for the noise that I had heard.

I turn and look towards what appeared to be a house before I whip back around, almost running straight into a tree. I stumble before I catch myself, laughing at how idiotic I was. A tree scared me.

"Way to go Corey..." I mutter before I hear something behind me.

"Who's there?" I hear what sounded like a girl say. I turn around to see a red haired girl standing there, completely naked.

I widen my eyes. "What the hell-"

"Who is that!" she screams as her arms tremble, which were also covering her breasts. After a moment, it finally occurs to me that this must be the famous Lydia Martin.

"Lydia? Is that you?" I say, almost forgetting the fact that she couldn't hear me. I didn't have time to tell myself how stupid I was for asking that before she actually answers me.

"Get out of my head!" she screams while looking around the woods. Boy, she really was insane.

I take a deep breath. "Lydia, I'm Allison's friend-"

"Leave me alone!" she yells before backing away from me, her bare feet slapping the mud.

I extend my arm even though she couldn't see. "I'm here to help you-"

I get cut off once again, but instead of her yelling at me, she lets out this high pitched, blood curdling scream. I cover my ears with my hands as she yells for what feels like forever, giving me a ginormous headache. I squeeze my eyes shut for a moment, begging for her to stop screaming, but before she can, I start to see something.

It was almost like a vision; like a dream. There were voices and blurred images that I couldn't make out at first, but then I quickly saw what they were. It was a man and another woman, both standing there looking down at something. Their voices were slurred together, but I could make out a few words and sentences.

"...who are you?"

"Why did you take me?"

"Answer my question..."

"...My name is Jade."

That was when the picture became clearer. I looked down and did in fact see Jade sitting there, looking up at the two other people with wide eyes. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion, desperate in wanting to know more, but before I do, the image was gone.

I gasp as I open my eyes again, now back in the dark woods. I looked around for Lydia, but she was no where in sight. My heart was racing in my chest as I tried to figure out what I saw. Was it a dream? Was it an illusion? Was it the future?

I don't get to answer any of these questions before I hear something else off in the woods, almost sounding like muffled screams and shouts. I debated whether or not to go check it out; mostly because Allison must be worried about where I ran off to now. Who knows how long I was in that vision or whatever the hell you want to call it. Besides, it could be Lydia again, and I wanted to make sure she stayed safe. For Allison.

I look over my shoulder, double checking for Lydia, but did not end up seeing her. I shake my head before running off through the woods again, heading towards where I heard the sound. The wind seemed to have grown cooler as I run through the woods, the moonlight barely allowing me to see.

"Shut up!" I hear another muffled voice. I stop in my tracks before I turn and look over, seeing Scott sitting behind a tree with another man. I furrowed my eyebrows before I walked over to them, listening in on their conversation.

"We have to help him!"

"No we don't. Just shut up and watch."

"Derek, they're going to kill him-"

"Shut up!"

Scott finally shuts his mouth before looking over at something, Derek looking over in the same direction as well. I become curious before I walk more around the tree, seeing something off in the distance. I start to walk closer to the figures before I recognized two of them.

It was Gerard and Allison's father.

I narrowed my eyes as I look around Gerard, seeing another person hanging up by their hands, attached to a tree. His face was morphed into something I had yet to see; my guess was that he was a werewolf. I felt mesmerized as I stared at his face, noticing things like his canines for teeth and his burning golden eyes.

He looked like a monster.

"Shock him," Gerard orders before I look away from the man, watching as two of the other figures stepped forward with some type of stick in their hands. I widen my eyes as they press a button, electricity jumping from it. I step back as they zap the poor man, causing him to howl out in pain. His face slowly started to transform back to a human before the two men stepped back.

Another man steps forward this time and hands Gerard some type of case. I watch closely as he reaches inside of it, his face staying expressionless. Anger rises in me when I see him pull out a long, shiny sword.

"Y-you can't do this," the man pleas. "I haven't killed anyone. I'm only here looking for the alpha-"

"An omega," Gerard says, lifting his chin slightly. "One that was probably kicked out of his own pack or is now alone by choice. You know, it's not very smart to be all alone."

I narrow my eyes as Gerard lifts the sword, a small sliver of glint in his eye. I step back when he swings the sword across the man's stomach, slicing him in half instantly. The man lets out a gasp as his guts fall to the forest floor, killing him.

I didn't know what to think. This is the first time I've seen someone being cut in half before, unless you count the times I've seen it happen when I binged watched The Vampire Diaries, but still, it was sick. It almost made me want to throw up, but I held it back.

"We have a code," Allison's father says, staring at Gerard.

Gerard flicks some of the blood off his sword before putting it into back into its case. "My daughter died because of them. There is no more code."

Allison's father nods before I shake my head, backing away slowly. The group of hunters walk away and leave the man here, not caring whether or not someone found the man dead. Something told me that they wouldn't get caught.

I stand there for a moment and try to process what all happened, but I can't seem to grasp my head around the fact that got to me the most.

Allison's family were murderers.
