Chapter 2 -- Attention Seeker
Kitsune's POV
I'd laugh as I saw Ekoro getting angry at the fact I was with Kage— How cute! Kanako laughed as well, fueling more laughter between us. You do know when your parents are divorced you need to cope in some way, right? Ekoro looked up, looking more furious as I held in my laugh. "Ah, you've sure got taste, little girl." I lifted my hand off my mouth as she decided to throw in another 'insult'. Her insults are dull, like her eyes. "We're the same age." Ekoro lifted her head, her boring, dull eyes filled with rage and desperation. "Unlike Kage!" I threw in, a cocky expression filled my face. Ekoro gasped, obviously taken aback by my insult. She looked horrified, tears filled her eyes as her expression stayed the same. Shocked, her jaw hanging as her dull eyes lit up from the light of her tears. She seemingly came back to her senses, clenching her jaw and picking up her guard. "So, How's your dad lately?" She smirked. I can't believe she'd say such a thing like that! I scoff, wordless because she's the one with a put-together family. Kanako laughs, though not as lively as when I insulted Ekoro. I absolutely could not believe her. "At this rate we'll all be scolded, so I'm going, take care of pet fox, Kanako." Ekoro walked off, getting a grip on her school bag. Ekoro's terrible, but, pet fox? Really, even my ex wouldn't stoop that low. I sigh, but I don't say anything because, well, she's right. We'll all get scolded if we don't hurry. I walk quickly, hurrying to the schoolyard but don't run. Running can cause falling, and when you fall you get hurt. That's weakness, and it's unattractive. I don't need no one to save me. Ekoro makes it before me, but I don't care. I keep walking, speeding up with each step. As I make my way closer to the school, the sakura trees fade from my view, and so does Ekoro. Thank god, she's so annoying. I make it to the door, walking inside. I must be very late, considering there's always a bit of staff whenever I come in late. I check the time. Oh god, 8:37? People come out of their classrooms, Ekoro and I stand awkwardly near the entrance. A brown-haired boy came walking toward me, in a red and black school uniform. His hair was messy, in elementary school everyone called him bedhead. Aiko Naremi. "I'll make sure Kage knows you're using him as your next victim for attention." He said as he passed me. His friend group glared at me as they walked, too. It was almost like they were saying, "You're an attention seeker, Kitsune."
