Kitsune's POV

As I place my hand upon Ekoro's shoulder, I couldn't help but wonder where I got the courage to do that, and also feel the regret of deciding to do so.

I want to ask if we can be friends, if she can somehow forget who I was and what I did.

She glanced at me and I felt my heart drop. I know what I did and that she won't forgive me.

I tried to smile gently, giving an awkward wave. Kanako looked at me and mouthed, "Girl, what are you doing??"

But I shook my head at her, before sighing. Ekoro stared at me like I was a maniac.

"I....I'm sorry, Ekoro."

I squeaked out. It seemed like forever since I've said such a thing to someone.

"Can we...." I said, but she cut me off before I could, finishing my sentence.

"Start things over..?"

My eyes widened, but I regained my composure, smiling warmly at her.

I nod. She nods back.

Just as we're finished, the bell rings as Kage releases her from his grip.
"Don't leave me like that again."
Kage whispers to her, looking upset, as Ekoro wipes her tears and whispers back "I promise" before they head back to their lockers. I chuckle as I head back as well before feeling a slap on my head. Kanako.

"Seriously? You're starting over with whatever-girl?"
"Jeez, it was a lie, alright?"
Now I'm lying about lying.

"Whatever, just don't go starting anything meaningful."
She scoffed. I can't believe myself, I went behind her back and made my own best friend mad. I have to make things normal with her or else— I don't know what'll happen between us.
