"someone want to tell me what the hell happened? I was gone for two minutes." he glares. he's careful not to direct the glare towards Lightning, the younger man is obviously already uncomfortable and he doesn't want to make it worse. "I thought you told me you could handle this?" Doc ask, shooting Smokey a pointed look.

"yeah well apparently I was wrong. I didn't think about the only two times he's actually met Maddie but neither one were under good circumstances so he didn't react as well as I thought, she hasn't even made it to apologizing yet. she hasn't been able to get that far. she said a few words and the kid stopped her then Bolt tried to attack." Smokey explains.

"no he didn't! he got defensive! I told you he wouldn't actually hurt anyone. he's a good dog." Lightning huffs, hugging Bolts neck tightly. Bolts tail wags a little but his eyes are still locked onto Maddie. "leave him alone!" Lightning glares.

"look you guys just go back to your rooms for a bit, give him a chance to calm down. he's not going to be any type of cooperative now that you've upset Bolt." Doc sighs. Smokey nods slightly and leads the ladies out. Doc looks over at the younger man. "kid-" Doc tries.

"I told them I didn't want to talk to them. that I wanted them to leave me alone, cause I felt like I was being cornered. Bolt remembered her from yesterday and he got angry at her, but he didn't attack her! you know he wouldn't! I promise!" Lightning said, hugging Bolt tightly. Bolt licks his face and whines quietly. Doc sighs softly.

"okay. okay. it was wrong of me to just leave you in here with them." Doc sighs. "I'll stay with you when they come back next time okay?" Doc ask. Lightning nods slightly. "it wasn't really nice of me to leave you alone like that. I'm sorry Monty." Doc apologizes.

"are you still angry with Bolt?" Lightning ask.

"no kid. I wasn't angry with him." Doc assures, reaching over to pet Bolt.

"go eat buddy." Lightning said, letting him go. Bolt jumps off the bed happily and runs back over to his breakfast.

"are you okay?" Doc ask. he nods slightly.

"yeah. m'okay." he mumbles. Doc nods and sits beside him.

"good breakfast will be here soon." Doc assures. Lightning nods and lays back on the bed curling up. Doc watches him and walks over to the bed.

"I'm worried what going to happen tomorrow. what if he some how manages to fuck up my car? I don't need another Chick incident." Lightning said, rubbing the scar on his arm where a part of the car had gone through it in the wreck.

"don't worry about it. it's okay. we'll take care of it kid." Doc assures. Lightning nods slightly, looking over at Doc.

"come here." he mumbles. Doc walks over.

"if you want me to lay with you, then you better move over." Doc warns. Lightning scoots over on the bed and Doc chuckles softly, laying on the bed beside him, before pulling the younger into him.

"thank you." he mumbles, nuzzling his face into Docs chest.

"mmmhmm." Doc hums, kissing his head. Monty sighs happily and curls up.

"can I go to sleep again?" he ask.

"don't you want breakfast?" Doc ask.

"yeah, but m'tired." Lightning murmurs. Doc pulls him closer, kissing his head again.

"okay. go a head. I'll wake you up when I bring the food up." Doc assures. Lightning curls upa nd cuddles to him, face buried in his chest with a quiet yawn. Doc lays with him, letting him sleep. he runs his fingers through the others hair gently and smiles. the younger is snoring softly, holding onto Docs shirt. Doc smiles a little, he lays with the younger for 20 minutes before his phone goes off. he gently separates himself from the younger as he gets up. he heads down to the lobby to pick up their breakfast and bring it back up. he he gets inside Bolt is sleeping next to Lightning, both are snoring and Doc snorts softly. he just lets Lightning sleep, the younger man needs it and if he's hungry, he'll wake up. he not ready for the younger to wake up screaming. immediately Doc drops the food onto the table and runs over as the younger jerks up. "hey. hey. you're okay." Doc soothes gently. he looks at Doc tearfully and hugs him tightly. "what happened?" Doc ask. he sniffles and hugs Doc tighter.

"I... Maddie she... the ambulance..." Lightning whimpers.

"shh. its okay." Doc soothes, holding him tightly. "don't worry its okay." Doc murmurs. "you're okay kid, we're in California." Doc assures gently. he lets out a shaky breath and sighs slightly.

"right. sorry." he says softly.

"no baby, its alright. are you hungry?" Doc ask. Lightning shakes his head and curls up with Bolt. "I'll be right back okay?" Doc ask. Lightning nods and sniffles, hold Bolt tightly. Doc kisses his head and heads out of the room. he knocks hard on Louise and Maddie's door.

"Hud, whats up?" Louise ask.

"I don't think its smart for Maddie to be at the race tomorrow." Doc said firmly.

"wh-what? I didn't mean to scare him." Maddie says quickly. Doc frowns.

"its not that." Doc assures. "he's still having those nightmares about the ambulance ride..." Doc says. "but seeing you has made them worse. it's not just you either. we had to leave Sheriff in Radiator Springs because seeing him sends the kid into a panic attack, pretty bad one too." Doc adds.

"he's probably right Maddie. him having a panic attack while driving wouldn't be a very good idea. I'm not going tomorrow, I'm going to stick around and watch the rooms, you can help me." Louise says.

"did I really scare him bad enough he's having nightmares?" Maddie ask hesitantly.

"its not just you. he starts having them again when he gets stressed and his dad is stressful." Doc frowns. "its not you Maddie. I'm sorry." Doc murmurs.

"no its okay, I'm sorry. I never meant to do that. I didn't think about it." Maddie says.

"its okay kid." Doc assures, heading back to his and Lightnings room. Lightning is poking around his food, with Bolt sitting in his lap. "hey kid, feeling any better?" he ask. Lightning nods slightly.

"yeah. m'okay. sorry Doc." Lightning says softly. Doc walks over and kisses him, before ruffling his hair gently.

"I love you." he murmurs. Lightning smiles a little at him, leaning against him .

"I love you too Doc." Lightning says.

"now eat." Doc says firmly.

"I am." he pouts, turning back to his food. Doc sits beside him on the bed and pets Bolt gently.

"hey buddy, you gotta stop growling at Maddie." Doc frowns. Lightning leans against him and eats quietly.

"its a little late for breakfast you know." Lightning said. Doc looks at his watch, its nearing 2 PM.

"its brunch." Doc shrugs.

"aren't you going to eat?" Lightning ask.

"I ate at the coffee shop remember?" Doc ask. Lightning frowns a little.

"huh, not really, but alright." Lightning says. he eats happily and cuddles Bolt happily. "if you're not going to eat, can you cuddle me?" Lightning ask.

"of course baby." Doc murmurs, sitting behind him and pulling him closer. "come here baby." Doc murmurs as he pulls him back. Lightning cuddles back against him happily. Doc holds him gently.

"I think I'm getting squishy." Lightning mumbles, looking at his stomach. Doc pinches it gently.

"nah. you're fine. besides we're still getting you back to your routines." Doc assures gently, kissing his neck gently. "I love you baby. you're just fine. you're beautiful, you're gorgeous. you'll get back to how you used to be in a bit alright? you just have to give yourself time to heal." he assures again, nuzzling his neck.

"okay." Lightning mumbles softly. "but I have pinchable-" Lightning starts.

"everything about you has always been pinchable." Doc assures, gently reaching up to pinch his cheek.

"he-hey! ow!" Lightning flushes. Doc chuckles softly.

"your ass is pretty pinchable. you've always had some small layer of soft over your muscles kid. it's just how you hold your muscle, and its cute." Doc murmurs, smiling. he rubs the youngers arm gently and holds him.

"okay okay I get it. you like me looking squishy." Lightning mumbles.

"you do not look squishy." Doc says firmly. "so knock that off. right now you have nothing to be be squishy with considering you're nearly 50 pounds underweight." Doc frowns. Lightning cuddles into him gently. "you're beautiful kid and don't ever forget that." Doc murmurs, nuzzling him. Lightning cuddles into him and continues to eat his breakfast. he only gets about half way through it, before deciding he can't eat anymore and moves it away, so he can just lean against Doc and cuddle him, before stretching.

"I need a nap." Lightning mumbles. Doc snorts softly and lets go him go.

"well then curl up baby." Doc smiles. Bolt immediately curls up with Lightning, tail wagging happily. Doc curls up behind him. "get all the sleep you need so you don't fall asleep in the race baby." Doc murmurs. Lightning holds Bolt tightly, cuddling back into Doc happily.

"m'kay. hold me." Lightning murmurs. Doc holds his arms around his waist tightly pulling him closer.

"I'm holding you baby, as close as I can." Doc assures gently. Lightning cuddles back against him, yawns. Doc kisses his head and holds him.

he lays with the younger for a while and listens to him snoring. after a bit he carefully separates from him so he can go get some food. he, of course, would be eating whatever Lightning left him in the food bag. he ordered whatever he thought he could get the younger to eat, whether he wanted what was left or not. he's pleasantly surprised to find Lightning has left him the preferred food of his choice, instead of the waffles smothered in syrup and some bacon, Doc gets eggs, bacon, and toast. he smiles a little and eats happily, keeping an eye on Lightning just in case. the younger doesn't even stir for nearly two hours, sitting up on the bed around 8PM.

"hey baby." Doc smiles.

"hey. I need a shower." he mumbles.
