"think I need another shower." he murmurs softly. Doc lifts his head from Lightnings chest with a bark of laughter, before kissing him and pulling back.

"go get you one." Doc murmurs.

"you need one too." Lightning murmurs, getting up. Doc snorts and gets up.

"whatever you say kiddo. just a quick-" Doc cuts himself off when his phone starts ringing. its Macks ring tone. "jump in. I'll be there in a second." Doc murmurs.

"alright." Lightning says. Doc answers the phone.

"Mack?" Doc ask.

"boss around?" he ask.

"no. kids in the shower. is this important?" Doc ask.

"his dads here. at the hotel. sitting in his car, watching the balcony. he's got binoculars. I think he's got eyes on your room." Mack said. Doc frowns.

"well good for him." Doc mutters heading for the balcony. "hope he likes seeing naked old men who were just about to get in the shower." Doc smirks. Macks quiet a moment.

"hmm. I... I did not need to know that and I seriously don't want to see it." Mack said. he's watching his bosses father, get a disgusted look on his face. "apparently he didn't want to see it either. he's driving out of the parking lot." Mack adds.

"good. let him leave." Doc said, hanging up and heading for the bathroom. the youngers standing just outside the shower watching the water. "you actually going to get in kid or just stare at it?" Doc chuckles. Lightning jumps and turns around smiling slightly at him.

"uh, yeah. just waiting for you. I've already pushed my luck enough today with my anxiety." Lightning says nervously. Doc nods and gets in, reaching for the younger.

"come on. its alright." Doc soothes. Lightning steps in and cuddles to him.

"thanks. m'sorry." Lightning mutters.

"don't be sorry kid. I'm going to start smacking you every time you say sorry if its not for anything important." Doc frowns, holding him tightly. he kisses the youngers head and smiles. "you're getting better kid. don't apologize. I want you to get better, even if its asking for help or needing me to watch you take a shower so you can keep an eye on me." Doc murmurs softly. Lightning nods against him. after a quick shower they got out and got dressed. Lightnings wearing another one of Docs shirts. "m'gonna have to buy me another Fabulous Hudson Hornet button up." Doc teases. Lightning turns a bright red and huffs.

"I can take it off if you want it." he mumbles.

"we're going to get coffee kid. wear one of your shirts. I don't want something that will catch your dads attention." he murmurs softly. Lightning nods slightly and changes his shirt out. Doc pulls on his blue and white plaid button up and carefully rolls his cuffs. "meet me in the hall way, I'm going to see if Smokey is awake and wants to go. it's a short walk." Doc murmurs, grabbing a room card and his wallet.

"okay." Lightning said, pulling on the Smokey's garage t-shirt. "I'll be out when I get my shoes on." Lightning added.

"alright. see you in a few minutes kiddo." Doc murmurs, kissing his head, before leaving the room. Lightning grabbed his keys and cell phone, before looking for his shoe's. finally managing to pull them on, he headed out into the hallway with Bolt and froze. he had no idea where everyone else's rooms were and Doc wasn't standing in the hallway anymore. he swallows slightly and whines lowly.

"u-uh, Doc?" Lightning calls slightly. he relaxes a minute later when Doc comes out of the room across the hall with Smokey.

"hey kid. glad to see you looking a lot better than yesterday." Smokey smiles, ruffling his hair.

"hey Smokey." Lightning smiles slightly, carefully pulling away from the hand in his hair. Smokey took the hint and pulled his hand back.

"lets go get coffee." Doc said. Lightning slightly, letting the two box him in, one on each side of him.

"okay." he agrees. he's confused as to why they're guarding him like this, but doesn't say anything. he turns his head to Smokey. "so what are you guys doing all the way over here in California?" Lightning ask. he looked down at his phone because it went off when Sally texted him, so he missed the looks Doc and Smokey shot each other. Doc shot Smokey a dirty look shaking his head, while Smokey looked surprised. Doc hadn't told Lightning they came to help keep his dad away and he wasn't going to.

"came to see the race. Huds always bragging on you. more so after you came back to racing. I haven't seen you race in person." Smokey smiles. Lightning smiles looking over and grinning.

"oh, thats cool." Lightning smiles. Smokey smiles back at him before looking away awkwardly. Doc catches his eye and Smokey frowns slightly as they walk. Lightning holds onto Bolts leash carefully, feeling relaxed. he's gravitating closer to Docs side, with Bolt between him and Smokey, not purposefully for distance, but just so he can walk beside Doc happily. Smokey doesn't seem to mind, Lightning hasn't put Bolts vest on yet, so he's just chuckling away as Bolt licks his hand.

"whats got you so interested in that phone kid?" Doc snorts.

"Sally. she said they're showing footage of the track on the news... says someone destroyed it and several of the cars. thats why the race is tomorrow, not today." Lightning frowned, shoving his phone into his back pocket.

"Mack didn't say anything about that." Doc said, sounding slightly confused.

"maybe they didn't tell him. they probably blocked off the whole area and gave some bullshit excuse." Smokey said.

"Mack would ask questions. he wouldn't just accept that." Doc said.

"just leave him alone. he was probably tired and just didn't ask. he gets like that sometimes." Lightning shrugs, patting Bolts head. Doc looked unhappy but nodded in agreement. the three headed into the coffee shop, got their coffee's, and headed back towards the hotel.

"I still don't understand what a 'pupcup' is and why they gave one to the dog." Smokey said. Lightning shrugged.

"its just something that some coffee places do. it's just a little cup filled with whipped cream. it's for dogs." Lightning explained. "and Bolt seemed to enjoy it. don't get used to it though." Lightning warns looking at Bolt. he barks quietly, wagging his tail happily.

"that little barista almost lost her mind over him." Doc chuckles.

"who can help it? he's freaking cute, even Smokey likes him." Lightning smirked.

"I didn't say that." Smokey said, a small smile on his face. Doc snorts and says something back to him, but Lightning couldn't hear it. he was staring off frozen in the spot. Doc looked back after a moment when Bolt tugs on his pants.

"kid?" Doc ask, pushing Bolt off him. "Lightning?" Doc ask. Lightning dropped his coffee and took a half step back. Doc shoves is coffee at Smokey and runs over to Lightning. "kid? hey!"; Doc calls slightly louder.

"is he having another seizure?" Smokey ask.

"I don't know." Doc said, carefully reaching out towards the younger. he's quick to catch the younger when he collapses onto the side walk. "shit!" Doc shouts, scooping him up. he mumbles something that has Docs head snapping up.

"Hud?" Smokey ask.

"he's here. it's panic attack." Doc said, carrying Lightning off quickly. Smokey looks confused and follows him, Bolt running past him to stand beside Doc and bark.

"who are you talking about?" Smokey ask.

"his dad. he's here." Doc said. they get silent as they walk quickly back to the hotel. they make it back to the hotel in record time.

Doc carefully lays Lightning on the bed feeling his neck gently.

"is he okay?" Smokey ask.

"I caught him before he got hurt, but I haven't seen him react this bad for a while." Doc said. Bolt jumps up on the bed and lays beside Lightning with a whine. "I bet his dads the one who destroyed the track." Doc mutters.

"how do we wake him up?" Smokey ask. Doc got up and went to his bags coming back with a small stick. "whats that?" Smokey ask.

"Ammonia Inhalant, or smelling salt." Doc said, breaking the stick under Lightnings nose. "used to wake people up when they faint." Doc murmurs. Lightning jerks awake, shoving it away from his nose. "welcome back kid." Doc frowned. he sits up and looks at Doc silently. "where did you see him?" Doc ask. Lightning stays silent, holding Bolt tightly. "hey, Monty, come on kiddo, talk to me. please." Doc said softly.

"leave me alone." he mumbles, clinging to Bolt. Doc frowns stepping back and Smokey holds out his cup of coffee carefully. Doc takes it and looks at him with a sigh.

"you two going to be okay?" Smokey ask.

"I'll be fine, but I'm worried about the kid." Doc murmured softly. he walks back over to Lightning. "hey, you want my coffee? you dropped yours." Doc said softly. Lightning turns his head away and Doc nods. Smokey heads out of the room to get them privacy. Doc sits on the bed, putting his coffee cup on the nightstand. "come here baby." he murmurs.

"leave me alone." Lightning mumbles. Doc reaches out and ruffles his hair gently, before pulling back.
