Toru was surprised when the two handsome strangers asked him about Azusa. And strangely, somehow they were very familiar, although he knew that they were just that. Strangers.

He eyed them carefully, but both of them did not seem suspicious, in fact, they seemed genuinely friendly.

"Are you Azusa's friends?" He asked them carefully while still on guard.

"Yes. We're her friends. In fact Azuma called us to help him with something, and we would like your help to find them, please?" 

The man with the long dark hair and heterochromia eyes answered him this time. 

Toru observed his eyes and wondered if he had any relation to the twins with the same anomaly in their eyes.

"Yes. Sure. I was about to find them. If you want to wait inside the bar, I will be back shortly."

"We will go with you." The man with the silver hair – Kai – smiled as he said the words, but Toru could feel the pressure, and the feeling that he would not want to decline the request.

Toru watched both men for a minute then he nodded. He just felt like there was no other option. And with such pressure? They should be able to handle themselves.

"Suit yourself." 

Toru walked and did not wait for their reply.

Both men looked at each other and nodded before they followed him.

When they reached the cliff, Toru saw how Azusa was struggling to climb up, so he just pulled her and he suddenly had this urge to keep her close and not lose her. Again?

He was scared.

He was scared that something might have happened to her when he was not around.

And that's when he knew that he wanted her to be with him forever.

But then she saw both men and her eyes lit up when she approached them and hugged them and kissed their cheeks with such familiarity. And he could feel the jealousy flared in his chest.

"Don't worry bro, they're family. And they're here to help us figure out something." Azuma patted Toru's tense shoulder. "Would you like to come and see what we found down there?"

When he heard that, Toru widened his eyes. Even he had not come down there since he knew that the cave was at risk of caving in anytime without proper gear and preparations, and these people wanted to get there without any equipment?

"I know what you're thinking, but think of them as a… tank. And a support beam. I will guarantee that no one will get hurt as long as they are here. And me too, of course." Azuma chuckled as he patted Toru's back. "Just follow us if you want to know the truth behind the island's… many strange anomalies."

Finally, Toru gave up after he saw how Azusa wanted to go back down there with those two men and Azuma said that he would go back to the bar to help with the others finding Chikara.

Of course he didn't trust the two men to be alone with Azusa, so he had to go down with them. And it seemed that Azusa knew what was going on in his mind as she squeezed his arm and held his hand.

"You don't have to do this." She told him after Dante and Kai went down to the cave with such ease.

"No, I want to." He pulled her close. "I want to help you with whatever you want to do, even if it's dangerous." He touched her face. "We better get moving before those two friends of yours get lost inside the cave." 

Azusa chuckled as it was impossible for Kai and Dante with their skills to get lost anywhere, but she didn't have to tell Toru that or he would be more suspicious of them. So instead she just kissed him and pulled him down the cliff to enter the cave.

When they entered the cave – following the two men – Toru was surprised when he saw how well-lit the cave was with some strange gems on the wall. He saw how Kai and Dante planted the gems as they walked further and he moved closer to see that it was actually a small device shaped like a sphere which emitted bright light.

"What's this?" He touched the gem and it didn't even feel hot.

"Oh, that's my new invention, a one-time use light bulb that can be used for around twenty four hours before it will disintegrate, leaving no waste behind." Kai answered him, and Dante chuckled.

"Another word, glorified glow sticks."

"It's a sphere, not a stick." Kai rolled his eyes as he put another one on the wall.

"Yeah, still a glow stick." Dante laughed, but he also put one on the wall as they moved further into the dark cave.

Toru suddenly remembered where he saw this young man.

Of course, it was last year when every personnel of the Major Crimes were called and given training in the new technology that the St.James Group made, and this man was there to give instructions.

"You're… Malachi St.James?" He couldn't believe that Azusa was a close friend to one of the most influential persons in the world. And he then remembered the man beside him, his partner, Dante Dahrk.

"You… remember me?" Kai suddenly asked him with such an interest and even Dante looked at him intensely. Toru could feel Azusa's gaze burning through him, but he was confused.

"Remember? Well, I do remember that you were the one who gave us training with the new tech that you provided for Major Crimes, and…" 

Toru suddenly remembered that he saw a woman that looked like Azusa there, and the flashback of him asking her out for a drink pierced through his head and caused him to almost keel over from the pain.

But then Dante held his hand and the pain subsided immediately.

"Are you alright?" He asked him in his very pleasant and calming voice, and Toru felt the pain subsided.

"I'm… I think I'm fine." He was about to walk again when Azusa grabbed him. 

"Guys, you just go on first, I left marks on the wall, you'll find it. I'll be over in a minute." She spoke to Kai and Dante and they nodded before they left them.

"So, Toru, tell me. I know that you just had a flashback when you said Kai's name. Tell me. Did you see me?"

Toru froze.

He did see her in the flashback.

But how did she know it? 

And more importantly, how was it that she was there in his memory when he did not remember her at all?
