Jackson's POV;

Hi! My name is Jackson and I'm in college. I live with my mom at a one bed apartment. It is small but it is just fine for us. My mom uses the bedroom while I sleep on the couch. It's pretty comfortable so I don't complain. My douche bag of a father ran out on us when I was five with some bitch. Sorry, my bad. I should not use these words. But I can't help it when it comes to those two losers. He never ever contacted us again. I tried getting in contact with him for a few years, until the day when he finally told me that he never wants to see us again.

Actually one day, I got to talk to him. It was during my first year at high school, Elaine, my best friend, went with me for support. He didn't know who I was but I talked about how he felt about us in a round about way. He said he didn't give a fuck about how we were and that we were all mistakes. Elaine got angry at him and I had to drag her out of there before she could hit that guy with her shoe. Although she did manage to throw his own drink on him. I didn't get that angry. Because I had a feeling from the start that he was going to be like this.

After that incident I never tried to contact him again. My mom got remarried. My step dad was a cool dude. He was a really great guy who I kind of love because of how he treated my mother.  My mom has an incurable disease. It has a pretty lengthy and weird name. Despite being ill, he took care of her with love and I really admire that about him. We were broken after my father left, but he's the one who put us back together and I'm forever grateful. Although he was also diagnosed with stage three cancer recently and I'm left to take care of both of them.

I also have an elder step brother. He is like Mr. Perfect. He has it all, brains, looks, he's even athletic. There's nothing that guy can't do. He was always smiling and he treated me like family, teasing me and protecting me like an older brother does. But then when I got to my third year of high school and he was in the last year of his university, he left the country. After that slowly by slowly we lost contact with him. He got married quickly and his wife wouldn't let us talk to him that much. He too would rarely come visit us. After he left, my step dad wanted me to take care of his business. And I accepted. Not because I wanted to be a businessman, I did it because of my respect for him. For everything he has done, it was time I paid him back. He deserves it all.

My best friends are Elaine, Tyler and Claire. Although I am acquainted with Tyler's high school friends as well as I have a few other friends but the one I am most close to is Elaine. Especially after Tyler and Claire started going out. I lover her and she's practically my sister and I would do anything for her. I know she would too.
People are always assuming or telling us to go out with each other but what they don't know is that we have such a strong special sibling type bond and it's not like that. But you know, humans and their stupid tendency to play matchmakers.

In my university years, I met this girl named Bella. She had pale skin with a slim body and black hair. She had blue eyes that were the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen in my life. And her smile, her smile was like it was something someone could immediately fall for. And when she spoke, her voice was soothing yet soft and gentle and it made my heart flutter. I was head over heels in love with this girl. The only reason I started going to my english classes daily was all because that she was in the same class as me.

At the beginning it was love at first sight. I wanted to talk to her, get to know her. And when she did one day approach me, I felt like I was flying up in the air. I know its cliché, but that's what I really felt. But then as we started talking, it turned out that she liked my friend Gary. And the only reason she talked to me was so that she could get close to him. But Gary paid no attention to her. Gary had always been a selfish, over-confident type of person. Despite that I was still friends with him.

So she started asking for advice from me. And I helped her. I thought my love at first sight was just a stupid crush so I ignored it. But as I helped her slowly by slowly we became close and she started regarding me as her "good friend". "Friend" I didn't like that. It pained me to see her work so hard to get some guy to like her that wasn't me. No matter how much I tried making myself believe that I want to see her happy, it still made my heart ache when she talked about Gary or anything related to him. I was becoming insanely jealous and crazy. When I would see her smile to him, I would wish so hard that if only that smile were for me. I never told her my feelings because I already knew I was gonna get rejected. They only person who knew about my feelings were my friends. And they told me not to help Bella because they believed it would make me hurt. I told them that it's fine and that I'm not hurt. Even though that was a lie.

A few weeks ago, we were walking to the cafeteria when Bella came to me.

"Oh Jackson! Good, I was looking all over for you." Bella said as she beamed with joy. There was just something about her. I don't know what but it made me smile and I kept falling for her even more every time we met.

"Hi..." I said as she suddenly forces a small piece of cake in my mouth. I eat it as she looks at me expectantly and says, "So...how is it?"

"It's good. It's better than the last batch." I said

"Yay! Great! Thanks. I hope Gary is going to love it. Thanks a lot for your help." She said as she then goes away before I could even say anything.

"Urgh..." I heard Elaine and Claire groan after she left

"What?" I asked as I didn't like how these two acted around Bella

"Her! She's using you." Elaine said

"No she's not. She's treating me like a good friend" I replied. Not this again. I don't get what these two have a problem with Bella.

"Yes she is. Do you know that she knows about your true feelings? She knows and yet she is still acting like this." Claire said

"Well maybe it's her way of politely rejecting me!" I said as I had enough with these two and their nagging. They don't know Bella. They have no right to always talk about her like this.

"No. You are too blinded by love, you don't really see what's going on." Elaine said

"Don't you talk to me about love when you haven't been in love yourself!" I said to Elaine with a bit of anger as my voice raised a bit

"Fine. We were just trying to help." Elaine said

"I don't need your help. I'm doing just fine." I said as I then noticed that Elaine looked a little hurt and she was probably mad at me. I was about to say something when she turns around and says, "You know what, I'm not that hungry. I've also got this test to prepare for. So I'm gonna head to the library." She goes away as Claire follows after her

"Why is she mad at me now?" I said

"Because you told her you don't need her help. Also because you have skipped every weekend us friends hangout time for that girl Bella. And on top of that, Elaine is especially mad because well I think it's also kind of our fault. Me and Claire make plans to hangout and you know how considerate she is, she lets us two go alone." Tyler said

"So those times when I didn't you tell you guys before that I was not gonna make it, has she been waiting for me until I messaged you guys late that I won't come?" I asked

"Pretty sure yeah. Although a few of those times we were with her waiting for you." Tyler said

"She doesn't have to." I replied

"She's our friend. You know how much she values friendships. She cried when I said I was going to go to a different high school. That is not cool dude. You're ditching us for that girl. That's not how friendship works." Tyler said as I decided I'll talk to Claire and Elaine later on

That day before going home, I talked to Claire and kind of apologised to her for disappearing lately. After scolding me, she accepted my apology.

I then looked for Elaine along with Claire as I saw her standing next to John. John is like...that guy is all about Elaine this and Elaine that. Elaine is kind of friends with him but I don't really like that guy. Plus I like teasing him.

I went up to them and I jokingly put my arm around Elaine's shoulders. John looks at us with irritation. As I smile. See, teasing him is fun. He then says he has some things to do so he leaves. As soon as he leaves, I pull my arm back as Claire whispers to me, "That was cruel."

"No, that was kind of fun." I replied

"What do you want?" Elaine asked me

"We still on for the movies night this weekend? It's gonna be movies, pizza and drinks." I asked

"Don't you have to help Bella with something? You said you had to meet her this weekend." Elaine replied

"I did. But I can cancel on that. Besides, this is way more fun." I said

"Really? Are you serious?" She asked

"Yeah. It's gonna be just like old times." I said

"Except me and Tyler aren't gonna be there." Claire said

"What? Why?" I asked

"I wish you would've told us this sooner but we already made plans. Tyler is gonna come over my house to have dinner with my family this weekend." Claire said

"Guess we have to cancel the movies night now.." Elaine said

"No it's fine. Us two can have fun. We are gonna play video games, watch Claire and Tyler's favourite movies and.." Jackson said as Claire interrupts him and says, "That's not fair!"

"How about when you guys are free from dinner you two quickly come over?" Elaine said

"Oh that's a good idea!" Claire said

"So where should we have the movie night?" Elaine asked

"My house." I said

"But what about your mom? We wouldn't wanna disturb her." Claire said

"It's fine. She has gone to live with her sister for the weekend." I replied

"You didn't go?" Claire asked as then Elaine said, "You know he doesn't like going over there."

"Oh right I forgot." Claire said

"So it's done then." I said as Claire and Elaine excitedly talk about which movies to watch. As I take my phone out, I message Bella about how I can't see her this weekend.
