Prologue - The Hour is NOW

Another long day at Playtime Co. was finally wearing down. It was getting late, employees both guilty and innocent were wrapping up any last minute projects they had on their desks. Others were already done with their work and packing up their belongings for the night. And then there were others who were all set to go but were too busy chatting away with colleagues. For one member of the staff, this usually annoyed them. But tonight, things were different.

Standing tall in the middle of the room, Huggy Wuggy's ever observant eyes watched a small group of people that had gathered in front of his display. One fellow was going on and on about their various problems of the day. The giant fuzzball had to resist the urge to roll his eyes. He needed to be patient. It shouldn't be long now. That thought had just crossed the toy's mind when the alarms began blaring.

It was showtime.

Huggy's mouth opened wide, revealing the two rows of razor sharp teeth he possessed. His gaze immediately went down towards the man who wouldn't stop talking about his problems. He needed to shut up. Without warning, Huggy lunged forward and bit down on the guy's head. Warm blood flooded his mouth, driving him insane with the exotic taste. Screams echoed throughout the lobby as the blue giant attacked his next victim, and another one after that. People ran for their lives as he chased them down the hall, away from the front door.

He would see to it that none of them escaped...

Mommy Long Legs lifted her head when she heard the alarms going off in the Game Station. So, it was finally time. She quietly turned to PJ Pug-a-pillar and Bunzo Bunny who were resting at her feet. Setting down the few mini Wuggies she had held in her arms, she whispered, "Alright boys, you know what to do." The other toys simply nodded their heads in understanding before departing their separate ways.

Watching her fellow experiments leave, Mommy turned her sights towards the few employees who were still in the Game Station. Scientists, all of them. They were staring up at the alarms and wondering what was going on. Too distracted to notice the bigger problem on their hands.

Perfect.

A maniacal laugh escaping from the depths of her soul, Mommy acted quickly. Grabbing one evil scientist and ripped him in half in front of his coworkers. The trio of course ran for their lives screaming. Futile. The giant spider-like toy was much faster. Scooping up all three in her arm, she pulled herself to the highest point of the Game Station before she released the scientists. Their screams ended with the sickening thuds of their bodies hitting the ground way too hard...

The prison guards had no idea what was going on. It was nice and quiet one moment ago. Then the alarms started going off. They tried making them stop, thinking maybe they were going off by accident. Superiors were calling those higher up in the ranks, trying to find out if maybe this was a simple test. But then the worst thing happened as the cells opened on their own. Screams filled the air as experiments like Yarnaby and Pianosaurus launched their rebellion...

Loud footsteps echoed down the hall as a lone employee raced down a hallway in the school. "No running!" a feminine voice remarked in a scolding tone. Oh no, they were right behind him. A brief glance over his shoulder confirmed this statement. The teachers were coming. Looking back forward only filled him with more dread when he saw more teachers up ahead. Left with no other choice, he bolted into a classroom. The nine teachers of Playcare's school filed in after him. Screams followed but they slowly faded away to nothing...

The factory floors of Playtime Co. had turned into a chaotic mess in the blink of an eye. Staff found themselves fighting against toys who had come to life. Toys found themselves fighting to kill and maim and torture their oppresses. They've allowed the pain to go on for too long. It was time for someone else to be in charge. And it would be the toys who called the shots from now on. But first, every wretched human must DIE...

"Something's going on out there!" one man cried, his voice muffled by the hazard suit he wore. His coworker nodded his head. Walking away, he grunted, "Help me loosen the straps on the giant." Hearing the two men speak, Kissy Missy shifted a little. They had been transporting her by train to somewhere but she didn't know where though. She wasn't even sure what the people were saying to each other. The only thing she knew was that the Hour of Joy was upon them.

The men were approaching. Dread overwhelmed Kissy. What were they going to do to her? Had they figured out about the rebellion? Were they going to kill her? Her heart pounding in her chest, the pink giant watched anxiously as the men walked over to her and started loosening the straps that restrained her against the board. They were going to kill her, she just knew it. Unable to take anymore of this crushing anxiety, Kissy lashed out. A quick smack to each was enough to kill both men. Hearing footsteps behind her, Kissy went towards the noise with the intent to silence...

"Shh, shh. We're okay, we're okay..." Doey the Doughman whispered to himself. The big clay creature was leaning against a wall, tucked away from the horrors of the uprising. The screams and shouts echoed easily down in the prison, considering it was down deep in the caverns below the rest of the factory.

"We should join in," Doey growled, his face wrinkling for a split second. The scowl softened as he gently corrected himself, "No, we shouldn't. We shouldn't take lives, we're better than those who imprisoned us." A sniffle escaped from the blob as he whimpered in between choked sobs, "I wish Mom and Dad were here."

The sound of a foot crunching on the gravel alerted Doey. They were no longer alone. Letting out something akin to a battle cry, he whirled around and struck the poor unfortunate prison guard who had discovered them. The human flew through the air and crashed against the cave wall with a crunch. They were dead in seconds. "Sorry guys," Doey whispered, his voice filled with remorse and pent up rage, "I had to protect us."

Curling up into a tight ball, the blob said nothing more as they sat and waited for the bloodshed to be over...

"This way! Come on!" a lady's shrill voice yelled. A whole stampede raced down a dimly lit corridor. Their destination, unknown. But hopefully wherever they wound up provided protection against the monsters running amok in the factory. At the end of the hall was a door. Faster than his companions, one young man reached the door first and threw it open. He was then suddenly dragged into the dark room he had just opened. Screeching to a halt, the rest of the people watched in fear as two eyes glowed from the darkness.

The screams of the humans were drowned out by a ferocious roar. Lunging forth from the dark room, Boxy Boo snagged the two closest people and ate them whole. The others tore down the corridor, screaming at the top of their lungs. They were getting away. Baring his sharp teeth, Boxy crouched and suddenly leaped forward, practically flying over the group. Crushing two individuals under his feet, he turned to face the other humans and bellowed. The remaining few sprinted back the way they came with the giant jack in the box toy in hot pursuit. Escape would prove futile for them...

"I'm scared..." Craftycorn cried softly. Wrapping his arm around the trembling unicorn's shoulder, Dogday nuzzled his friend in order to comfort her. "It's gonna be okay," the plush dog reassured his companions, the rest of the Smiling Critters. Holding his head high, he repeated, "It's gonna be okay." As he watched the others nod in agreement, Dogday could feel doubt creep into his heart. Shuddering, he peered over the stone wall he and the others had hidden behind.

Wandering amongst the field of the dead and dying, Catnap's eyes surveyed the area. Survivors, he must find the survivors and snuff out their spark. There! Movement in the bloodstained grass. One of the many counselors was still alive and she was trying to crawl away. Slowly walking up to her, Catnap reached down and grabbed the young woman in his mouth like an actual mother cat would grab her kitten. Without missing a beat, the giant plush feline threw the human against the statue in the middle of Playcare. The lady was dead upon impact.

Satisfied with the kill, Catnap flicked his tail and continued on his rounds. He needed to find more...

"Oh my god oh my god oh my god..." the warden hissed under his breath as he ran for his life. Finally arriving at his destination, he slammed the door behind him in the nick of time. Whatever had been chasing him crashed against the now shut door. A bellow of defeat sounded before the sound of heavy footsteps faded into the distance. Drawing in shaky breaths, the warden sunk to his knees.

"Hm, what's going on?" a voice full of static questioned aloud. Oh great. Groaning as he rubbed his temples, the warden turned around and found himself staring at a computer screen with a purple eye. "Doctor, please," the warden grumbled, "Now is not the time."

"Ah, I see. The experiments have finally risen to the challenge and begun their little rebellion," Doctor Harley Sawyer remarked. Chuckling to himself, the computer system added, "No doubt that Experiment 1006 is behind this mess."

"Oh will you shut up for once?!" the warden barked. Standing up so he could look the Doctor eye to eye, he ranted, "In case you haven't heard the screams, there is nothing but bloodshed outside of that door! If either one of us steps out there, we'll be dead."

"You would be, not I."

"Oh whatever! Get off your high horse every now and then! Don't act like you matter more than the rest of us!" the warden shouted. Throwing his hat down on the floor in frustration, he sighed deeply and mumbled, "I want to go home to my family."

"Is that all you want? I can make it happen," the Doctor commented. This caught the warden's attention. The human turned to the computer system as Harley continued, "It'll come with a simple price mind you. Nothing too fancy, just a favor. I scratch your back, you scratch mine." Taking a step forward, the warden asked, "What is it that you want, Doctor?"

"Give me the Omni-hand and I will get you out of this nightmare safe and sound."

"...deal..."

Sitting alone in her room, Poppy Playtime flinched when she heard the screams of the people. A howl from whatever monster was chasing them soon followed. An oily tear slowly ran down her face. Covering her blue eyes with her hands, the small china doll wept quietly. She wept for the poor souls losing their lives outside of her sanctuary.

They didn't deserve it, none of them did...

All was quiet in the labs. Blood as red as the poppies in the garden stained the once pristine white floors. His metallic legs clicking softly on the tiles, the Prototype's eyes darted around the room. There were bodies everywhere and no signs of life. The scientists have all been slaughtered.

Well, almost all.

A faint cough caught the Prototype's attention. Curious, he turned around. A feeble hand reached out from behind an overturned desk as a living and breathing scientist meekly crawled out into the open. Making his way over to the sole survivor, the Prototype stooped down to the human's level. A little blood dribbling out of his mouth, the scientist croaked, "Is... is this... what you wanted... Experiment 1006? Are you... satisfied... with yourself now?"

"We'll be satisfied with your DEATH," the Prototype answered, his unique voice changing four different times in the same sentence. Raising his hand, the experiment plunged his pointy fingers deep into the scientist's back. The human never even got a chance to scream as sharp metal pierced his heart. Retracting his fingers out of the fatal wound, the Prototype raised his head high. If he listened carefully, he could hear the uneasy silence that had fallen upon the toy factory.

"At last," the Prototype rasped, flicking droplets of blood off his fingers, "Freedom is ours..."
