John

Hi. I'm John. I guess I should start at the beginning of the end.

The beginning of the war started in December, a year ago. I was at school when the teachers sent us home, to keep us safe from the war that was waging closer and closer to the city of Mastill, Georgia.

I got home and my mother, father, and brother were waiting for me. My parents took us to the underground shelter we had made when the threats of war first came up two weeks ago, and waited for twenty minutes according to my watch, when the first bomb went off. My father was an expert in military weapons, and he said it was about 2 miles from our house, and 10 miles from the center of the city. We waited for another few minutes when we heard another bomb much closer this time, that it left a quiet ringing in my ears. My father said this one was about half a mile from our house, "If they're moving this fast," my fatter said, "they should be here in a minute or two. Considering that the nearest farmhouse is a half mile from here, I'd guess they're killing innocent people, and we need to run." He opened the cellar door and sure enough, we could see the enemy army closing in by the minute. We ran for the small woods behind our house, and we were almost there, when the enemy army stopped in front of our house. I looked behind me and saw 3 of them search the cellar, but when they came up empty handed the three soldiers shot their guns in our direction, but I didn't get hit. I looked over and my mother and father were on the ground unmoving, with a bullet in my mother's back and a bullet in my father's head. I held in a sob and looked at by brother Al, and saw a bullet in his leg.

Through gritted teeth he yelled, "Go! Leave me, I'll catch up!" I tried to convince him no, but he insisted.

I should have known otherwise. I never saw him again, and when I went back to the house an hour later to look for him and collect provisions, my family was dead. I ran inside grabbed a backpack, towel, two changes of clothes, canned food, water bottles, hiking boots, and my bow and arrow I used for archery at school. I also grabbed a map and radio and ran back into the woods.

Author's note: Hi! Thanks for reading After The End. Please comment and vote. I'll be updating as much as possible, but school starts in a few days for me, so this is no longer as big a deal as school. Bye! Xoxo, Petunia724
