*CHAPTER 5*

I woke up feeling very energized the next morning. I yawned and decided that as a thank you, I would cook my special pancakes for Dash's family. I checked on her and she was snoring like a typical dad. I slowly went downstairs. It felt nice to be able to eat in the morning. Plus, it was Saturday, which meant we had all day to look for clues to prove how bad dad is. I was wandering around the kitchen to find the flour bag. Honestly, I can't find anything here! Then, I felt something on my leg. I turned around and saw a very cute tortoise. I picked it up. "This must be Dash's pet" I thought to myself. I put it down again and kept searching for the necessary ingredients. After a while, I managed to figure out where everything was. Time to bake! I grab a mixing bowl and whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. In a separate bowl, I beat eggs and add milk and melted butter. Combining wet and dry ingredients, I stir until just mixed. On a hot griddle, I ladle batter into perfect circles, flipping when bubbles appear. Voila! Fluffy pancakes ready to devour! Just as I finish making them, I realize that I have flour all over my face and clothes. I serve the pancakes and start to clean up the dishes that I have used. Moments later, I feel someone's arms wrapped around me in a bear hug, and for some reason, I blush very hard. I turn around and see Rainbow Dash. She is wearing very cute pyjamas with red, blue and yellow lightning bolts. Her hair is super messy, and she was still yawning.

"Good morning, AJ!"She said while she yawned again.

"Just thought I might make some pancakes as a thank you for being so kind and letting me stay here."I said and covered my tomato red face. At that moment, Rainbow Dash hugged me again and kissed me on the cheek. My heart raced as Rainbow Dash's lips brushed against my cheek, leaving me stunned. The unexpected kiss left a lingering warmth, and I felt a mix of surprise and a flutter of something more. I stood there, a blush on my cheeks, pondering the newfound feelings that had taken root. I was still shocked when she said:

"You're the best friend in the world, AJ! Thanks for making pancakes" She said and sat down. I served her some of the pancakes. I must have looked very shocked, as she said.

"Are you alright? It looks as if you have seen a ghost" She said

"It's nothing, just thinking about my dad" I said.

We decided to investigate even more about dad's criminal accomplices. We went to the library to search in the mystery section. Entering the library's mystery section is like stepping into a realm of enigma and suspense. Dim lighting casts shadows on shelves lined with intriguing titles, and the faint scent of aged paper fills the air. The atmosphere is hushed, inviting whispers of intrigue. Row after row, the covers beckon with promises of thrilling twists and hidden secrets, creating an ambiance where every book holds the key to a captivating unknown. "Focus, Applejack" I said to myself. I was wondering off the mission. We found a rusty looking book and decided to read it. After searching it for a whole thirty minutes, Rainbow Dash was hungry. It was already 11 in the morning and we had breakfast at 6 am. She told me to wait for her. She wanted to go to a specific shop to buy a snack. She patted my shoulder and told me that she would be back in about forty minutes, since it was far away and she really wanted to show me that specific snack. When she touched me, I felt a shiver run down my spine and butterflies in my stomach. I had never felt like this before. I must be sick! I decided to call Rarity and ask her for help. She is very nice, and she was very nice to me that day in the bathroom. I need her opinion on this, since she knows a lot about feelings.

"Hello, darling!" She said.

"I think I may have a health problem" I said

"You mean, you're sick?"She asked, very confused.

"Well, I don't know, but I need your help. Can you come to the mystery section in the library?"I asked her

"Erm... Well, if it's that urgent and you consider that you need to tell me instead of medical professionals, I'll see you in ten minutes" She said and hung up the call.

I waited for ten minutes and, just on time, I saw Rarity come in. She saw me too and came in a hurry.

"Are you alright, darling?" She said and sat next to me.

"Yes, well, no, but.... I have been feeling very weird lately. Every time that I'm around Rainbow Dash I feel sick to the stomach and I blush a lot. I don't know what to do..." I said

"Well, I don't know who this Rainbow Dash is, but if my senses are correct... You have a crush on him!- She said and jumped up and down. Everyone in the library turned their head to look at her.

"The thing is.... Rainbow Dash is a girl" I said

"In that case, you're a lesbian!" She cheerfully said.

"Do you feel strange about her and blush every time she touches you?" She asked with a grin.

"Yes" I said

"Well it's settled then" She said

"What do I do?" I asked. She is very good at giving advice.

"Tell her your true feelings. Trust me, the sooner the better" She said and placed her hand on my shoulder. This time I definitely didn't feel sick. I have a crush on Rainbow Dash!

"But if she doesn't like me, I'll be humiliated" I said

"You're amazing, Applejack. I'm sure that she secretly likes you too" Rarity told me and winked.

"Well, I must get going now. And remember to tell her today! If not, you'll regret it!" She said and walked out.

Moments later, Rainbow Dash arrived with some posh looking snacks. We tried them. It was a lemon and apple cheesecake. The first bite of the lemon cheesecake with apple was a delightful symphony of flavors. The velvety cheesecake literally melted in my mouth, its tangy richness danced with the zesty burst of lemon. As I savored each forkful, the subtle sweetness of apple swirled in, creating a harmonious blend that tantalized my taste buds. It was a dessert symphony that left me craving another sweet encore. It's delicious!!

"This is one of the tastiest desserts that I've ever tried! Thank you for bringing it, it was definitely worth the wait" I said as I ate another bite of it.

We decided not to continue searching for evidence against dad. We had been at the library for hours and we still couldn't find anything. Rainbow Dash suggested that we went to the theme park. We did so, and arrived at the enormous place. Rainbow Dash practically dragged me to ride on a crazy roller coaster.

The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting a warm glow over the lively fairground. Rainbow Dash and I had spent the entire day relishing the exhilarating rides, indulging in cotton candy, and laughing like there was no tomorrow. As the sky painted itself in hues of pink and orange, we found ourselves standing before the towering ferris wheel, its giant spokes reaching towards the fading sunlight.

The whir of the ferris wheel echoed the excitement in the air. We exchanged glances, our eyes reflecting the shared joy of the day's adventures. Rainbow Dash nudged me playfully,

"Hey, AJ, wanna take a spin on the ferris wheel? The view up there is gonna be awesome!"

Grinning, I agreed, though my heart raced with a different kind of excitement. As we ascended into the sky, the bustling fairground transformed into a miniature wonderland below us. The air was filled with the laughter of children, the distant melodies of carnival music, and the occasional roar of a roller coaster.

With each rotation, the sky evolved into a canvas of warm colors, the sun sinking lower, painting the horizon in a tapestry of hues. The atmosphere became serene, and a gentle breeze tousled our hair as we sat side by side in the Ferris wheel's open compartment.

"Sure is a sight to behold," I remarked, my eyes fixed on the breathtaking sunset.

Rainbow Dash nodded, her eyes sparkling.

"Yeah, it's pretty amazing. But you know what would make it even better?" She turned to me with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

I raised an eyebrow, curious. "What's that, Rainbow?"

She leaned in, her lips close to my ear. "A little courage."

Confused but intrigued, I followed her gaze to the horizon. The sun was now a mere sliver above the horizon, casting a warm glow that bathed everything in a golden hue.

"Applejack," Rainbow Dash began, her voice softer than usual, "there's something I've been wanting to tell you. I've had an amazing time today, and well, I feel like we've got a connection, you know?"

I swallowed hard, the words hanging in the air. Did Rainbow Dash feel the same way I did? Gathering my own courage, I looked into her eyes and said,

"Rainbow, I reckon I feel the same. There's something about you that just... gets to me. I've been likin' you for a long time."

Her eyes widened, and a smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "No way, really?"

I nodded, feeling a mix of vulnerability and excitement.

"Really."

As the Ferris wheel reached its pinnacle, Rainbow Dash took a deep breath.

"Well, since we're being honest here, there's something else I've been wanting to do."

Before I could ask what it was, she leaned in, and her lips met mine in a soft, lingering kiss. The world around us seemed to fade as the warmth of the moment enveloped us. The kiss spoke volumes, conveying feelings that words had failed to express.

When we pulled away, a shared understanding passed between us. Rainbow Dash grinned, a blush tinting her cheeks.

"I've wanted to do that for a long time."

My heart raced with a mix of surprise and joy.

"Well, you caught me off guard there, Rainbow, but I ain't complainin'."

We laughed, the tension easing, and for the remainder of the Ferris wheel ride, we simply enjoyed the breathtaking view and each other's company. As the sun finally dipped below the horizon, casting the sky in shades of purple and indigo, Rainbow Dash turned to me once more.

"You know, Applejack, I've never been good with words, but I really like you too. A lot."

Her honesty melted any lingering doubt, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Well, ain't that a coincidence? Because I really like you too, Rainbow."

As the Ferris wheel descended, we shared another kiss, sealing the newfound understanding between us. The fairground below had transformed into a magical realm of twinkling lights, echoing the newfound brightness in our hearts. I was so happy that she felt the same, she really is the best.

United more than ever, we're ready to face whatever comes ahead. Now we just need to gather enough clues to show the authorities towards dad's illegal business and we can be free.
