The beginning of our friendship
CAMUS POV'S
I enter to the classroom for the first time along with the principal. After entering the first person I sight right on the last desks row is no one more and no one less than my dearest "bad guy." What is he doing in here? << Idiot. >> I say to myself. Needless to say, this is his classroom, well, is my classroom. Our classroom. Doesn't matter.
I feel his gaze scrutinizing my entire body. He explores it closely and I feel like burning. He inspects me with a smirk, why? Why is he smiling? Why can't I stop watching him to begin with? Good, I've decided not to care about him at all. At his side I can see someone waving at me, it's "Beatles." He moves his hand quickly from left to right while smiling. I return the gesture by raising my hand just enough for him to see. I've never been a smiling person so, he has to settle himself with that action, and seems like it was enough for him. He mutters something to "bad guy" and afterwards shows a victorious grin while the leather jacket boy tries to ignore my presence. "Unnecessary girl" is also here. One row in front of the other two. She looks at me angrily.
Having known that getting into that staring grief would come with a stalker, an angry girl and the friendly guy included, I'd never ever had followed that stupid game.
- Students of the 1-A course.
The principal's voice gets the attention of everybody in the classroom. She has already finished to update who'll be my new teacher and now she has to inform the students.
- He is Camus Aquarium and will be your new classmate. I ask you, or rather, I require you to be kind and friendly with him; and I'm referring to you, Mr. Scorpio. – Scorpio? The principal's sight goes straight to "bad guy", so it means that's his last name, eh? How bad could he be to have the principal lecturing him in front of everyone? I guess, I wasn't mistaken in his nickname.
I arched an eyebrow due to the surprise; he notices my action and snorts turning back to face the window.
- Take a seat, Camus. Have a nice day. – And with that she farewells.
At the back, right at the corner is an empty seat. << Perfect. >> I celebrate in my mind. It's isolated from the rest. Exactly what I like. I start to walk to take possession of my new desk. Finally, something good came from this experience. What I mean is that, at least, the desk is totally apart from where that Scorpio guy is.
- Wait! Take my seat, Camus.
Oh, no! It's "Beatles." I turn to face him. He's murmuring again with Scorpio, whom seems uncomfortable and I would dare to say nervous? A mix of both maybe.
- It ain't easy to be the new one. – Says with an enormous smile. – Being alone won't help either. Take mine, I'll gladly take yours.
Little by little he gets closer to me, takes my backpack and lunch bag, and puts it on the desk that was his before. Is it already too late to say no?
- Furthermore, allow me to tell you a secret, the corner is the best place to take a nap between classes. – Murmurs while making me sit down forcibly.
This, indeed, will be a long... Long year.
The first part of the day passed, now it's lunch time. I've heard and read that this is, supposedly, the best part of a student day. Maybe it's true. I'll have something to eat and something to read, doesn't sound bad.
I leave the classroom after everyone has gone out, bringing the paper lunch bag on one hand and my book on the other, and then I walk through the hallway. The hallways are large and, on the walls, some big glass murals are extended. In the courtyard are some very ornamented columns. I think it suits the Institute's name. Big, large green areas to have lunch. There are some benches around, as well, but who would sit there having all this extension to enjoy? And just as if they could read my mind, the dynamic trio is sitting right on a bench not that far from where I am. "Beatles" gets to see me and smiles. I raise my hand again as a salute. The girl stares at me, challenging. I just ignore her and continue my walking. I turn to the right, a hallway that seems to lead to the back part of the building, this is quite longer than the other hallways. At the end of it I discern a light in the distance, and right at the end, a garden. Without any people around, an empty garden. The birds sing some melodies pleasant for the ears.
- This is a good place. How come no one knows about this marvelous garden? Where can I sit? Oh, right there! - Onto that hill, to the foot of the identical sal trees, whom I've baptized as the Twin Sals.
<< What else could it be? Food. Enough for breakfast and break.>> Aunt Sindy's words return to my mind. I forgot about breakfast but now I'll have more food for break. What could she have cooked? Curiosity kills me.
I definitely have the best aunt on the Earth. After opening the paper lunch bag and encounter myself with a unique scent that comes from a purple Tupper. On a note on the top of it can be read:
"Good luck on your first day, I know how much you love it. It'll be your lucky charm. Je t'aime."
- I love you too... Although I may not say it so often.
By opening the Tupper I come across a surprise. Pelmeni, aunt Sindy makes the most delicious on town. She learned the recipe from a Russian author she worked with. I perceive the smell of the home-made dough mixed with the pork and lamb. I spread some mozzarella cheese on top of the pelmeni which, with the heat the container saved, melted a bit.
I accommodate my back to one of the sals log, take a pelmeni and enjoy it while looking for the page I was reading yesterday's night. Sincerely, I haven't read that much because I just recently started. << Page... Page 8, here it is! >> A grin is drawn on my face. Undoubtedly, a literary gem from an unknown author. It is pretty much about love, an unrequited love. Thanks to my dear teacher for recommending it.
"And under the constellation of Scorpius he declared his love, in that field surrounded by crimson roses, he gave proof."
- Scorpius...? Scorpio? Seems you are everywhere, eh?
- Hey! You should consider stop talking alone... Some may thing you've gone... Crazy, dude. Isn't it right, Milo?
Leaning on the doorway is "Beatles", showing his distinctive smile. Wait one sec., Milo? Who the heck is that? And there he is, behind the brunette. Milo, the guy of long blonde hair. They, both, walk towards where I am and take sit under the shadow of the sal tree in front of mine.
- My name is Aioria, Aioria Lion. And this dude over here is...
- Milo Scorpio... - I interrupt the smiley Aioria with an unconscious whisper.
- Eh? So, you two already know one another? If that's the case, why don't you speak, Milo? Or could it be... The mouse ate your... - He couldn't finish the phrase, again, because Milo hit him on the head.
- I, surely, can talk... Is just that, I don't want to. – Just what I thought he would say. Definitely, I don't think I might befriend him.
- I see, after all you're a problem child. That's mainly why the principal lectured you earlier. – I say before returning to my book.
- Stop that shit, Milo! Of course, you can and you want. And Camus, I swear you he's a good fella. His appearance may be suspish but regardless of, the principal loves him. – Makes a pause to make sure I'm paying attention. I'm. – So, from today on, we'll be besties. This is the beginning of a new scholar year for all of us and the beginning of our friendship.
And that's how my year starts... Seems like I might have some new friends, forcibly. Although turning back to my words, one of them won't have my appreciation. I already know.
- By the way, what are you eating? It smells delicious!
- Pelmeni, but I'm not sharing. – For no reason I'll share. The pelmeni is mine. And that's how you leave a little lion glummy.
