Chapter 18
I don't know what happened... One minute we were singing along to Mia's phone and the next Autumn and Rose were jumping on the couch while Mia and I danced on the coffee table.
"I took a pill in Ibiza, to show Avicii I was cool. And when I finally got sober, felt ten years older but-"
"What is going on in here?" Johnathan is standing in the door way, all of his groomsmen crowded behind him. His eyes are focused on Autumn as he watches her stop jumping.
Autumn freezes while Rose immediately jumps off the couch. Mia squeals and throws the water bottle she was singing into behind her.
"Wedding planning babe." Autumn tells Johnathan calmly, while he reaches his hand out to help her off the couch.
"Of course," Johnathan nods as Autumn takes his hand. "That's exactly what it looked like."
My eyes unwillingly turn to the group of groomsmen, searching for a specific one. Instead, I find his gray-eyed best friend. What is Cameron doing here? His eyes are focused behind me on a red-faced Mia, who's probably waiting for me to get off the table so she can get down too. Cameron takes a step toward her when Kai comes rushing past him.
"Dang, Mi, who know you had that much skill." Kai shouts causing Mia's face to turn an even darker shade of red.
"Shut up." She mutters as his arms wrap around her legs and he throws her over his shoulder.
"Put me down!" She squeals.
"Nope." He says, then starts singing. "I drive a sports car just to prove, I'm a real big baller 'cause I made a million dollars and I spend it on girls and shoes."
Ignoring their antics I turn back to the rest of the wedding party. I still don't see Isaiah, but I notice Cameron glaring at Kai. A knock on the door makes Kai stop singing as he goes to open it, Mia still hanging over his shoulder.
When Autumn's two other bridesmaids walk through the door she claps her hands. "Alright, everyone's here. Although, I don't know who you are.." She looks at Cameron.
"That's Isaiah's best friend Cameron." Mia's head snaps up at the mention of Cameron's name, but he's no longer staring at her and Kai. Instead, he's standing in front of me holding out his hand. Oh right, I'm still standing on the table.
"Thanks." I mutter once I'm off the table. He nods in response then watches as Kai set Mia down.
"Where's Isaiah?" Mia asks, sparing me a glance.
"He's sick." Cameron responds staring at me. He's not exactly glaring at me but it's a hard stare. Why? It's not my fault he's sick. He turns to Mia. "He asked me to come figure out everything he needed to do."
"He's got bachelor party duties with me." Kai tells Cameron as he sits on the floor Indian style.
Once Kai sits everyone follows his lead and sits somewhere. Some on the couch, some on the chairs we set out, and some on the floor.
"And next week all the guys are going to get their tuxes." Johnathan tells Cameron. "But I'll just text Isaiah the address."
"And while the guys are getting their tuxes, we ladies will be dress shopping. I don't know where yet, I'm still trying to find somewhere that has a good selection of gowns." Autumn says from her spot on Johnathan's lap.
"You should try Belle Mariée." Cameron says and everyone looks at him. How does he know where to go wedding gown shopping? "It's French for beautiful bride, my sister owns it." So that's how...
"Really?" Autumn says looking excited, then writes something on her hand. "Do you- do you think some dresses will be in this price range?" She asks and bites her lip. Actually looking scared of his answer.
Cameron squints and reads what she wrote on her hand. "Definitely." He nods and reaches into his suit pocket. He pulls out his wallet and grabs a white card and hands it to Autumn.
"Ah!" She squeals. "Perfect! Thank you."
Three hours later wedding colors have been picked and the church and reception spot have been picked. A guest list has been made and we've started seating arrangements. Most of the wedding party has left. All that's left are Johnathan, Autumn, Kai, and Cameron. Cameron looks like he'd rather be anywhere else than here, Autumn and Johnathan are discussing seating, Mia's making comments to help them, and Kai just keeps poking her. Cameron is watching them intently and when his phone chimes he stands up.
"Excuse me." Mia watches him walk out of the room then turns back to talking to Kai.
A few minutes later Cameron hasn't come back to the room so I get up saying I'm getting a water.
When I walk into the kitchen Cameron is standing with his elbows on the island, his face in his hands.
"There's nothing going on." I whisper, walking toward him.
Cameron's head shoots up and his eyebrows furrow. "What?"
"Mia and Kai," I clarify. "He messes with her but it's not in the way it looks. He's like another brother to her."
He shakes his head. "Why are you telling me this?"
"Because," I look down and pick at the skin around my thumb. "I saw how you were looking at him. I know what you're thinking and it's not that."
"Well, at least you're not completely heatless." He mutters but I hear it clearly and it feels like the wind has been knocked out of me.
"Excuse me?" Why would he say that?
"You know," He straightens out. "When did you become a whore?" I have no idea what I did or why he's saying this.
A gasp sounds through the kitchen and it wasn't from me. Cameron looks behind me and his eyes widen. When I turn around, Mia is standing there looking appalled.
"What is wrong with you?" Mia asks. "A pregnant woman Cameron! One that was your friend."
"Amelia, I-" Cameron starts.
"Never mind, just leave."
"Mia," I whisper.
"No," She snaps at me. I don't think I've ever seen her this mad in all the years I've known her. "Cameron, get out."
He opens his mouth but Kai suddenly comes into the kitchen. "I think I heard her tell you to leave."
Cameron looks at me. "I'm sorry Meghan." He nods at Kai. "I'll pass all this information to Isaiah." Then walks to the living room. "Johnathan congratulations."
"Thanks man, hope to see more of you."
"Yeah, Autumn, nice to meet you."
Mia still looks furious and Kai just looks confused.
"Mia, really, its okay." I try to calm her down.
"No, it's not." She snaps again. Kai wraps an arm around her shoulder.
"Hey, take some deep breath." He tells her then goes to the living room.
Cameron walks to the door and we hear it close.
"You okay?"
"Y-"
"Dumb question." She sighs and pulls me into a hug.
"I'm fine." I tell her and push her toward the living room. "Go help your brother with seating for his wedding."
And then I'm left in the kitchen by myself wondering what I did wrong.

I don't even know.
