"I can still save her life!" Jackie screams. "I can and I will!"

"You won't be saving her life, Jackie! You will literally be ruining it!" I shout back, frustrated that she is even considering this at all. "I would like to believe that she had a good life. Don't go messing it up now."

"Guys, she is dead. I hate to be morbid and rude right now because that is really insensitive of me and you guys just lost a close friend but she is dead. There is no point in arguing about this. You can't ruin her life and you can't save it now either. We need to take her home to her parents and we need to do it now." Zack tries to insert himself when he knows nothing about this situation other than the obvious.

"I absolutely can save it! Butt out of this Zack! This does not involve you!" Jackie screams, practically hissing at him.

Zack steps back, wishing he never got involved in the first place. This guy's thoughts are going wild right now.

"I promised her, Jackie." I plead my case. "I promised that I would let her die if this ever happened. She doesn't want to live the lives we were forced to live. She wanted to die." I fill Jackie in. "She knew she was going to die. She knew I would be sad. She knew I could save her. And she knew I would do it if I had the choice. But she specifically asked me not to. And I promised her." I think back to the conversation Roslyn and I had.

Jackie shakes her head.

"I love her and I don't want to lose her. But I respect her decision to die. I have to. I promised her." Tears flood to my eyes, making me wish I had never promised Roslyn anything. This hurts. I know I can save her. I know I can bring her back and keep her here with me.

But I promised I wouldn't do that.

I promised.

"She's my best friend James!" Jackie screams at me through her tears. "I can't lose her!"

"I'm sorry Jackie. I promised her."

"I didn't." Jackie speaks calmly, coming to a new realization. "I didn't promise her anything."

"Jackie no!" I lunge for her just as she plunged her fangs into Roslyn's vulnerable neck.

Author's note: and just like that, this story is finished! I can not believe it.

I have had so much fun writing this story and I hope you have had just as much fun reading it.
