Roslyn stares at the casket, feeling incredibly sorry for the young boy who lies inside. "It's not your fault." I grab her shoulders and assure her that she is not to blame for his demise. She blames herself for the events that occurred after she was attacked by Julie. I wish I could stop the pain she feels for this boy she has never met. She says she doesn't even know his name despite living down the street from him for her whole life.

Jackie sheds a single tear, knowing his death could have easily been prevented if we were just a little bit faster. Her thoughts run wild. She is struggling with so many things as she stares at the boy's face, covered in make up to hide the wounds on his skin.

I grab on to both of their shoulders and pull them closer to me. "It's not our fault he's dead. There's nothing we could have done differently.

Jackie removes my hand from her shoulder. "Speak for yourself James. I knew Julie wasn't in the right state of mind and I still let her go out there without any supervision." She turns and leaves to stand far away from us.

"Yeah, and I am the reason she died and got turned into a blood sucking monster- no, no offense." Roslyn adds, jointing Jackie in the back of the room.

I sigh and shove my hands in my pockets, silently wishing that this boy will be looked after in the afterlife and that he will not be alone. I hope he will have someone looking out for him when he transfers over to the land of the dead.

All I can do is hope at this point.

This is the first person anyone in my family has killed. I've heard of vampires killing people and using their blood as a viable food source but my parents raised us differently. We never even looked at a human as a potential source of food. Not even when we were starving and haven't eaten in weeks.

But not Julie has tasted human blood and it will be nearly impossible for her to go back to anything else. It is an addiction. Much like when a human struggles with addiction from a drug, we struggle with addiction from human blood.

Humans will never be safe around Julie ever again.

Unless we can cure her.

I have to do it.

I have to sacrifice myself to help my sister.
