Chapter 8: Egon's return

Phoenix was seated on her bed looking at one of the many books she'd brought with her from where she'd been staying in Maine with her boyfriend Topaz for the past couple years when all of a sudden her locket began to bounce up and down around her neck.

"What the hell?" she thought as she pushed the locket back down around her neck only to have it star bouncing again.

"Okay so this is weird." Phoenix murmured aloud as she pushed her locket back down a second time when it popped open to reveal a picture of her and her grandpa long ago when she was only a baby.

"Grandpa?" she asked aloud as she looked around her room in confusion when suddenly the window opened and the cold air blew into her room kissing her skin lightly as she got up setting her book aside and made her way over to the window and peered out.
"How strange." she thought as she closed the window before getting back on her bed as her locket started bouncing again at the same time the window blew back open.

"This is not normal." Phoenix thought as she stuck her head out the window squinting slightly as her eyes focused on a shimmering blue figure hovering outside a few feet away the figure was of a tall man with hair that had once been the same black brown like phoenix's and his eyes were brown like melted dark chocolate as they looked at her from behind the pair of circular glasses he wore.

There was no denying it now the figure she was seeing was her grandfather his head turned towards her and he smiled.

Phoenix gave him a watery smile in return before she raised her hand into the air and gave him a small wave which he returned as a lone tear streamed down his pale cheek as he smiled at her sadly before beckoning to her.

Phoenix slipped on her boots and pulled her fuzzy grey robe over her white nightgown before tiptoeing downstairs and opening the front door as quietly as she could before making her way over towards the ghost who sat waiting on the grass next to her car.

"Hey." she greeted as she carefully sat down next to him in the grass with a smile as he reached over and held her hand.

"I really miss you." Phoenix continued as she smiled at her grandfather fondly who smiled back as he used his other hand to tuck a strand of her dark curls behind her ear before patting her cheek "I miss you too Pheo, more than you can even imagine." Egon said as he kissed the top of her head.

"Why didn't you ever write?" Phoenix asked as she looked at her grandpa with a raised eyebrow.

"I tried sweetheart, I really tried, but i'd been tracking your life the whole time." Egon said as he stroked his granddaughter's curls.

"I was just about to ask that." Phoenix laughed as she held her grandpa a little tighter.
