Chapter 5
Yawn! Splash!
That was me splashing water on my face and trying to wake at 6 in the morning.
I just don't get why life has to be so hard.
I don't have a particular place to go for an interview but I just couldn't give up. I had to keep searching if I don't want to end up with James.
Thinking about that made me shudder.
I don't know a fate worst than having to end up marrying James.
Except from the fact that he's a spoilt brat. He is a popular womaniser.
I still don't get why some women are ready to be in a bed with someone that looked like that all because of money.
I looked at myself in the mirror imagining how we'd both look on the altar, swearing to be by each other's side forever.
Geez, I don't even wish that for my greatest enemy which happened to be Sadie.
Are you sure you don't?
Well, maybe I do a little.
I stared for a while at my reflection in the mirror and decided to sleep back.
'I don't care whatever happens I'm getting my beauty sleep'.
Just as I laid back on my bed I heard a knock on my door.
Who could it be?
'Who is it?'.
'It's zina'.
'What do you want?'.
'Madam asked me to call you down for breakfast'.
'Breakfast? At 6? What kind of breakfast is that?'.
'Well, I don't know but my guess will be it's because the Davies family are around'.
'What are they doing here?'.
'Well, if you don't mind. I heard them discussing---giggles--about--giggles--how---'.
'Zina?'.
'Yes?'.
'Please stop giggling and get to the point I'm sleepy here'.
'OK... I heard them talking about you and James'.
'What about us?'.
'If I heard correctly.. It sounded like the marriage between the both of you'.
'Oh, I see'.
'Thanks for the information, now go and tell them that the bride is coming to meet her bridegroom'.
'Right away'. She went away giggling.
I stood up and ruffled my hair that looked like an haystack already and opened the door not bothering to change out of my pyjamas.
I'm sure the love of my life would love to see my early morning beauty.
'Good morning everyone' I greeted.
Spotting Mr and Mrs Davies I moved to greet them.
'Good morning, in-laws. Did you sleep well?'.
'Well-uhm- yes we did'. Mr Davies managed to say.
'I'm glad you did'.
'Maya! What the hell are you putting on?'.
'My pyjamas. Why? Don't you want my future husband to see me in it?'.
'I'm sure he doesn't mind. Do you?'.
I asked facing him.
It took a while for the idiot to realise I was talking to him.
'Uhm-yes of course, why would I?'.
'Good then'.
I intentionally picked the seat beside Sadie even though there were two empty seats one beside James and the other beside Sadie.
'Since Maya has joined us why don't we talk about how the wedding should hold?'. Liza suggested.
'Yes'. Mrs Davies said not looking so sure.
It looked like she wanted the say the opposite so badly.
'Yes, let's talk about that. I'm sure my darling James is still interested in me. Aren't you James?'.
Please say no. Please.
'Of course, I can't wait for us to get married'.
'Me too'. I said through gritted teeth.
The rest of the morning went by with Liza and Mrs Davies planing our wedding that isn't gonna take place and me stabbing my food.
I noticed that Sadie didn't comment on how bad I smell and saw she was busy throwing seductive looks at Richard who was busy on his phone.
Same goes for Sophie.
I decided to butt in.
'Cough cough. I can't help but notice that Sophie and Sadie had been staring at Richard since we began eating. Do you guys wish to tell him something?'.
They both threw murderous glares at me and I smiled satisfied.
'Uh- no- nothing at all'. Sophie stuttered.
'There's something I want to say actually'. Sadie said.
'What's it'. Richard asked, speaking for the first time.
'Well, since Maya here is getting married to James why don't one of us also get married to Richard. I mean he should chose one out of Sophie and i'.
Everyone exchanged glances and looked at Richard for answer.
'No!'.
Sophie and Sadie gasped. I grinned.

The rest of the breakfast went uneventful.
We all ate in companionable silence and everywhere was quiet except from Sadie's occasional grumbles.
We finished our foods and it was time of the Davies family to leave.
Richard totally ignored Sadie's waves but James returned it making her scowl.
'You don't always get what you want'. I patted her back and went back inside to get ready for the last interview before I get married.
Mrs Davies had offered me a job with one of the most popular companies in Hungary which belonged to the husband of a friend of hers.
She didn't guarantee that I'd be taken but could only offer me an interview which is supposedly hard to get.
I put on a grey skirt and black blazer with nude shoes and walked downstairs.
I met Liza at the bottom of the stairs.
'Remember this is your last chance or else you'll become a full housewife'. She reminded me.
'I'll keep that in mind'. I said and rushed off.

'We're sorry, we can't accept some one without experience'.
And that was it. My hopes were crushed.
It's like it's my destiny to become a full housewife and not an accountant.
I slowly made my way out of the company with slumped shoulders. Defeated.
Even Maya was tired and hopeless.
She didn't even bother arguing with me over that.
I sat on a roadside bench that wasn't far from the company too weak to even call a cab.
I could imagine my life with James. It would be so...spiffing... I don't know if there's a word like that but I don't give a fuck right now.
I sighed and prepared to leave when I spotted a billboard with an ad.
The job was totally different from what I wanted to do.
It said 'hunt down predators for big cash'.
'What kind of predators? Dangerous ones?'. Maya asked.
I frowned at the ad as I read the tiny inked letters, My mind was running faster than My brain. A pain jolted through My body due probably due to overstressing myself.
I tore a paper from my jotter and scribbled down the address and retraced back into the streets.
'They won't make us do things that'll hurt us'.
Yes, they won't. Even Maya agreed with me.
If only we knew.
