I like Forks. It is a quiet town in Washington.
The summer is almost over, if you can call it summer. The weather here is always the same, except in autumn and winter.
In a starry night, I take a walk through the forest. The wind sweeps through the treetops. It's quiet until I hear footsteps. I turn around, run away quickly and hide on a tree. A group of drunken teenagers comes over. They bellow and laugh.
I keep climbing to avoid detection. The bellow gets quieter, which means they are already a few miles away. I let myself fall and land skillfully on the forest floor.
Barefoot again, I keep running and jump over the moss. I feel the wind in my face and smile.
Faster and now I fly formally. I don't want to stop. Don't stop, just keep running.
After a while I stop at a cliff.
The moon shines brightly over the sea. I sit on the edge and look at the water. I think of swimming, not having to show up to take a breath. When I was human, I couldn't swim.
I taught myself as a newborn, since I can no longer drown.
I'm back on the way back. It's only a few hours before I have to go to school. I enter my room and discover my phone on the bed. I've missed over twenty messages, all from Carissa. I will answer her later.
