Warning: Trigger warning; small expresses of depression, anxiety, bipolar and drug use, medium expression of rape through the next few chapters.
I spend the next few hours of the morning in my bed, trying to go back to sleep. Then, when I couldn't take it anymore, I thoroughly re-cleaned my room including resetting my drawer formations and rearranging all the clothes in my drawer. I tidied myself up, actually doing my hair and getting into some suitable clothes.
I was procrastinating, I realised, I didn't want to go out into the living room in fear that America and his bff would be there and I'd break down in tears or have an anxiety attack.
I got to almost eleven o'clock before I began to starve, I needed serious supplementation.
"Okay, okay." I whispered to myself, transferring weight from one foot to another like an athlete getting ready for their big race. "Three, two, one." I slammed open the door, rushing to the kitchen, assessing my options. Toast was first, I practically shoved the loaf in. I prepared myself a cereal, spilling the milk and then darting to clean it up. Emma was a neat freak and would be on my back all day about it.
"Olyvia?" I heard Emma call sleepily. "Is that you?"
Buffy was the first person to enter into the kitchen, he took one glance at me and flopped onto the couch. For some reason, that really annoyed me. Not the fact that he was sitting on the couch or that he was still here, but that he flopped onto the couch.
"Why did you do that?" I asked, frowning.
"Huh?" He spoke, sounding a little dazed. Right, Emma probably gave him really powerful painkillers or something.
Figuring I wasn't gonna get a straight answer out of him, I just shook my head. "Nevermind."
"Why do you hate us so much?" He asked, sounding really out of it, his eyes were unfocused and dazed.
"You-" I faltered, suddenly getting really deep, really fast, "you're not like us, we don't know how to defend ourselves, we're weak, and in times of trouble, we rely on you guys to help us but, people still die, people I love and liked died because people like you didn't stop it before it happened."
"But everytime we try to stop it before it happens, innocent people die, everytime." I turned to see Captain America standing in the doorway.
"But I'm starting to wonder if that's better than this." I looked up, dropping my hands by my side. Out the balcony window was a lovely view of the desolate town.
"You sound a lot like my friend, well, we used to be friends."
"Is this another one of your superhero buddies?" I scoffed. "Cause I don't know, you're all the same, all have a different assortment of powers, character arcs, strengths and weaknesses and a different set of morality views that are changed every so often." I shrugged.
"But so do you guys." Capt. said softly.
"But we're missing the super strength, or the bucketload of money, or the mind powers." I spoke scathingly, folding my arms and leaning on the bench.
"She does have a point Steve." Bucky grinned then shrugged when Steve sent him a glare.
"See? Your boyfriend agrees with me." I grinned.
"H-He's not my-" Steve stumbled in shock.
"Why not? You guys are attached at the hip! You're practically married." I enjoyed the uncomfortable look Steve had on, frowning, opening and closing his mouth in protest, then closing it, deciding it would be more diplomatic to just stop talking.
"What are you doing? You're not making the guests uncomfortable are you?" Emma asked accusingly, walking into the room.
"Course I am, what are the other reasons for my existence?" I shrugged.
Emma sighed then muttered under her breath. "Take drugs, do parties and be depressing."
"I heard that!" I sung.
There was a sharp knock at the door which sent the two heroes flying for cover. "Into the room," Emma hurried as I rushed to answer the door. "No dobbing." Emma scowled at me, I rolled my eyes.
"Heyo Jayden!" I sung as I ripped open the door. In the way, was Jayden, looking mightily fine may I add.
"Hey Liv." He grinned. "Joe's having a party tomorrow at his so-"
"Of course I'll come!" I grinned. "Anything to get out of here."
"Awesome, so-"
"See you tomorrow!" I slammed the door in his face and turn to Emma. "Coast is clear." I whisper-shouted. Before the Americans could return, I swiped up my food and returned to my room, making sure to lock it behind me.
Depression, PTSD, did I mention bi-polar? Yeah, it comes occasionally but I would think that it would've stayed away while they're here. Seems like I'll be riding the next couple of days on an emotional high, or, I could get absolutely done tonight and maybe my mood will return to normal.
I considered my options. Staying here, all day for the next, however long, was not going to be a fun experience.
Party it was.
...
Okay, so, the party was still a day away and instead, I spent the entire time in my room. I confined myself to mostly reading and watching to shows, in fact, I completely marathoned Adventure Time from start to finish. I was getting up to the latest episodes when I heard a cry outside my room.
I rushed up, knowing that it was late and rushed through my door to the couch where Bucky was screaming out in his sleep. Steve was only a half-step behind me. I rushed forwards, knowing what was happening. "Bucky!" I shook his shoulder softly. "Bucky wake up."
Frost biting at every millimetre of skin, Steve's face growing smaller and then completely disappearing, bleeding out into the snow.
"I-I... Steve." He moaned in pain, I winced, biting at my lip concerned. I clenched my fist and gathered all the anger inside of me and swung. I slapped Bucky hard across the face which did its job and woke him up.
I just slapped the Winter Soldier, oh God, he's going to murder me.
"It's going to be okay. You're safe, Steve's here. They're not after you anymore, I promise." I spoke soothingly. The flashes of memories, lingering behind my lids.
"Y-You promise?" Bucky asked slowly, a hand on his red cheek.
"I promise." I replied firmly, my expression softened, my heart was racing all over the place. I knew what was happening to him. I knew. "Hey do you wanna watch Adventure Time with me? You seem like an Adventure Time person."
Bucky nodded. "Whatever it is, I'll take you up on that offer."
That night, the two of us watched the show, I explained to Bucky the characters, the story arcs and the Internet Conspiracies about it. It got us talking about the Internet and memes and the other billion things the Internet has to offer.
Somewhere along the line, Bucky falls asleep. I don't.
