Chapter 33: Falling
That night, Alhaji Musa was in coma. He was bleeding from his left arm and the doctors had to remove the bullet as soon as possible.
When Barrister Edward heard the new, he was so shocked. It was just unbelievable. He knew how much Humaira hated him but he couldn't here she got the nerve to face him.
'How would Humaira take such wratic decision? Imagine attacking a soon to be senator in his office, this might be more complicated than I think.'
The barrister thought as he turned off his television and went inside to make a call. He had to call a friend of he's to confirm what really happened.
Humaira to him is like a junior sister. She's a very strong and intelligent person that he admires so much. She's just had to go through hell, especially with the devilish Alhaji Musa in it. The least he wants is to hear hat Humaira has spoilt her image as a lawyer, just because of him. Despite his lecturing and advises that she should forget about the past and move on.
"I'll meet her first thing tomorrow morning and confirm why she had to shoot Alhaji Musa. Where on Earth did she even get the gun?" Barrister Edward concluded as he walked to his bedroom.

The Following Morning...
Alhaji Musa's surgery was successful. They removed the bullet and luckily, he's safe and sound again, but still receiving treatment.
Barrister Edward went to visit Humaira that morning. They took her into the visiting room as he came to meet her there. Shocked at how devastated she looked made him realize how much pain, she's going through.
"What happened to my lawyer?" He started. Humaira raised her head, her eyes meeting his gaze.
"Don't call me that, Barrister Edward!"
Before all of these happened, on a normal day. Barrister Edward would call Humaira, 'my lawyer' and she'd feel excited about it. But not this time. Things have changed, everything is different.
"But you're my lawyer right?" He asked with hope in his eyes. "You're a legal practitioner."
"I'm no longer a lawyer, sir. Not with what I've done. I'm an insult to my profession. I killed Alhaji Musa." Humaira break down in tears, letting another series of tears pour out of her red, swollen eyes. With the look of things, she must have cried throughout the night.
"No you didn't, Humaira. You're not a murderer."
"What?" She jerked to his last words, as she lifted her face up to his gaze. "He's still alive?"
"Yes my dear. Alhaji Musa didn't die. Luckily, the bullet only whizzed through his left arm."
A cold shiver ran through her spine as she let out an heavy breathe. "Alhamdulillah! Alhamdulillah!! Alhamdulillahi Robil 'Alamin!!!"
Humaira clutched her head in her palms and let out soft whines.
A smile finds its way to Barrister Edward's lips as tears of joy gathered his eyes. Humaira was in a pitiable state, he just wished he could help her out already.
"Don't worry my dear. I'll work I'll help you work it out but there would be a bail for #20, 000. But.. you'll have to promise me something."
"What is it? She raised her head up. You'll have to promise me that you won't ever face Alhaji Musa ever again. You wouldn't attack him in any way... You'll have to fill this form and sign as well.
Barrister Edward brought out the bail form and placed it on the table, handling her a pen to write.
"How do you expect me to forget about everything just like that? He killed my son, Mr. Edward! He killed the only son I've loved and cherished! Someone I've sacrificed a lot for and hoped to watch him grow! Would you let him go if we were riding the same boat?!" Humaira let out her anger on him, as more tears pricked her eyes. "He confessed to me yesterday, Barrister Edward! That man killed my parents! His evilness destroyed me!"
The wetness in the barrister's eyes welled up as his hands held Humaira's. He wished he could help her pass through all of this, somehow... But his lips muttered.
"Sometimes, Humaira. Patience is the best weapon and silence is the best answer. You don't have to face him, Humaira. Now that Hadee is dead. Find your sister and make peace with her. Hopefully, tomorrow would be better than today." Barrister Edward encouraged as Humaira let out more tears. After submitting the form, Humaira would be able to leave the following day.

In The Maikuddi's Mansion...
Zainab Came to knock on Khalid's door. In her hands were a bottle of ribenna and two glasses of cups.
Khalid opened the door, looking at her confusedly.
"What?!" He barked at her.
"That's not nice." She meowed back to him.
Khalid smirked at her with a mugged look, letting out an annoying laughter.
"What do you want, Aliyah? Or have you forgotten the way to your room?"
"I just realized it would be better if we would understand each other as siblings so... Would you like a comfort drink?" She asked, rasing the bottle to him.
"Hmmm... Comfort drink my foot! Trying to heal the wound you gave me?" He angrily banged the door to her face but she opened it.
"I should be the one saying this, Khalid." She let out a sigh. "We're in the same boat, bro. You caused the accident that made me forget everything, including my past. I'm still angry with you but... I'm willing to forgive you. So, would you drink this juice with me? Let's put our grudges aside for now, can we?"
"Okay fine." Khalid replied and collected one of the class cups.
A smile find its way to Zainab's lips as she opened the bottle, pouring the purple coloured juice into the glass cup on him hand.
"Fill it." He requested.
Zainab was happy so she filled up his cup. About to pour it into her own cup too, Khalid threw the juice to Zainab's face, making her whole face stain with the colour of purple.
"Do you take me for a joke? Do you think we're age mate?!" He spat at her.
Zainab tried to open her eyes but it looked as if the juice was peppery, so, she couldn't. She tried wiping away the wetness but the was a splash of purple on her white pyjamas.
Khalid dropped the cup and hissed at her, banging the door to her face again.
"I'm going to have you packed up and kick you out of here! Imagine?! If you like, lose your fucking memory, it's none of my business! To hell with you, Aaliyah! You're not even a part of this family so leave! You have the nerves to serve me one stupid ribenna! You just wait and see what I'll do to you in this house! How dare she? Who the hell does she think she is?" He asked himself, parabulating in his room.
Just then, he heard a knock on the door.
"Seriously? You're still there again?" He opened the door and hissed "What?!"
Zainab poured her cup of juice at his face, making him scream in agony. He tried enduring the peppery-hot drink on his face as it drip down his body.
"Did you forget what I told you? I'm part of this family now. If anyone should leave this house it should be you. I told you that I give back as much as I'm given, crap for crap! So, let me give you a piece of advise Mr. Khalid. It's that your dirty attitude of yours that makes people run away from you."
"Hey! Shut the fuc_!"
"What? You now feel like drinking with me?" Zainab rolled her eyes at him and entered her room, leaving Khalid in the shock state. He gritted his teeth at her in anger.
I'm going to show that she doesn't belong here. Imagine, she poured that drink on me. Khalid almost cried but he went into his bathroom to take a shower.
Meanwhile, Zainab's lips slightly twitched up in amusement. She felt glad that she was able to splash he drink on him as well. There was a strange satisfaction she felt but, most of all, she hoped Khalid would be considerate and accept her as his sister soon. All she wants is to be free around without any evil eyes peeled around her.
"Well, that served him right." Zainab smiled and walked into the bathroom to take a shower.

Okay guys!
So, I used the word 'barked' and 'meowed' as an onomatopoeia sound. Barked for an angry, high voice while meow for pitiful, low voice. Hope we're clear?😌
