Chapter 21: Judgement

"Getting back to the office, Alhaji Musa got arrested. Are you going to be alright? What's happening sir? You're innocence right?" Mrs. Lydia asked with tears in her eyes. She knows nothing would ever be the same if her boss is being arrested.

"Don't worry, Lydia. Things would sought itself out. Just take care of the company till my arrival." He explained as he stretched out his hands to be handcuffed.

Well, he didn't argue or tried to explain anything to the police men. He knows he was guilty but what exposed him was Scorpion. He'd fucked up big time but this didn't make him panic whatsoever.

"Bye now. Take care Lydia." He mentioned before leaving the office.

They look him downstairs as other workers were confused. They didn't seem to fathom what was happening. Alhaji Musa had a serious face though, but he followed the officers. Walking outside, they took him into their van that was already opened for him.

'Too bad, I have to go through the embarrassment. All thanks to Scorpion I trusted and hired.' he said to himself as he got into the vehicle.

Getting into the police van, the siren sang along with him as they drove away. Staring through the window as they left; Lydia couldn't help but to shed more tears.
'Oh God! Please save my boss. I know he's into different kinds of dirty games and he's not a saint but please... Let him come back in one piece. I don't want this business to fall apart, I've spent almost half of my life working as his secretary. I wouldn't want to go jobless because of this.' she whispered to herself. Wiping away the lines of tears on there face.

Going back to work was normal but knowing that Alhaji Musa was imprisoned brought her more worries.
'Like seriously, only God knows what he's done this time." She hissed to herself.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Musa was taken directly to the prison along with Scorpion to wait for judgement. Although, they weren't locked in the same prison, the both of them had regrets flooding out of their minds

Alhaji Musa was so pissed off but he didn't say anything to Scorpion. Trying to argue would just expose him more and making things more difficult for him to bare. Hopefully, Barrister Kingsley and his other friends in the judiciary system would help him out of all these.

Days later,

In The Court Room.

Everyone were seated including Humaira and Barrister Edward against Alhaji Musa and barrister Kingsley.

After lots of questioning and answering. Zainab and the driver from the other day testified what Mario did. He kidnapped Hadee that afternoon, along with Scorpion who didn't know where exactly they took him too. There wasn't enough to prove that Alhaji Musa actually sent them.
Although, that day he came home late, Alhaji Musa's Albino gatekeeper testified that his boss went to work because he didn't see any child.

There was a long discussion on the issue but the judge cane to a final conclusion.

"Since the kidnapper in charge of the boy is dead, investigations would be carried out by the Nigerian police force to find the missing child. As for the armed robbery incident that took place five years ago; You will be produced in court tomorrow for the planned of Dr. Azeezah's death. This court orders Alhaji Musa Adamu to be reminded to judicial custody for 15 days while Simon Darlington aka Scorpion is sentenced 10 years in prisonment."

No, this isn't right!" Humaira cried but he judge has already given judgement. Something is wrong somewhere. Barrister Edward says to her. I'm sure he had planned for this before hand. What are we going to do now? He asked.

I don't know. I'm as confused as well." Humaira retorted. The police officers walked Alhaji Musa into their patrol van. It was just so unbearable. He had an evil smirk planted in his face.

Turning to him as they walked him out if the courtroom, tears escaped from Humaira's eyes. She hated him so much, yet, she don't know how to bring him down. Every single time she fines a way, he gets Webby and stronger to avoid the punishment he truly deserves.

Come on Humaira, let's go. Barrister Edward said to her. Just then, barrister Kingsley walked to where she was, looking at her with his black-devil eyes.

I'll advise you let go, young lady. You're too young to drag yourself into his pool of dirt.

"What are you insinuating, Barrister?!" Humaira fired at him.

"I feel you should have come up with a better proof. And you know, Zainab isn't enough. You're a lawyer, you should be wise enough to understand things now. My father-in-law, the judge won't hesitate to pull you down. Especially when luck isn't on your side."

Shit up Barrister Kingsley! Yore in no position to speak to Humaira like this." Edward retorted.

"Oh! I see... So who are you to her now? Her bodyguard? No, her guardian?" Barrister Kingsley rolled his eyes at them disgustingly and walked out.

Humaira watched him, heartbroken. She wished Alhaji Musa would be sentenced to death. As if he haven't done enough to her and Zainab already.

"Don't worry Humaira, everything would come to light." Barrister Edward tries to convince her.

He held her by the shoulder as he helped her up.

"Come on, let's go now."

Humaira wiped away her tears as they stepped outside. Zainab was waiting for her but the door. She rushed to give her a tight hug immediately they meet.

"Don't worry sis, everything would be alright and we'll find Hadee." Zainab encouraged her words with a small smile.

Humaira was shattered. The court didn't handle the case as she expected. She just walked out of the courtroom.

Outside the court were reporters and investigative journalists trying to find out with truth. As Humaira stepped out, they rushed to her.

"Ma, which jail is he going? One man asked. Will you ensure he goes behind bars?"

"He heard he kidnapped your son? How sure are you about that?" Another woman asks as Humaira raised her he'd to answer the reporters.

"I'm here till the charge sheet of his case is filled."

"What about your missing son? Is it true that Alhaji Musa Adamu is the father of the child?"

Humaira's eyes blared at the questioned as her heart skipped a bit, but, she was strong enough to give a reply.
"Don't ask me questions on rumors without getting the facts right. I'm a single mother a single mother and I'll do whatever it is to find my son. Although, there's no evidence on who actually sent the kidnappers since the so called Mario is missing. But, I promise to find whosoever is behind this. And remember, people believe anything published in the press, first. Their trust in you is so please, be factual on what you see and report."

She find her way into her car as Zainab followed.
