savannah's pov

i stepped back after knocking on the door to derek's house and it soon opened with him standing on the other side.

"hey" he spoke as he held onto the door with one hand.

"hey, is-is jack here?" i inquired.

"no, he stepped out about an hour ago for some air" derek stepped aside, allowing me to follow him inside. "did you want to talk to him?".

i shook my head, "no, i actually came to see you guys. i just didn't want things to be awkward if he was".

i came into the living room, where johnson and nate lazily sat on the couch in front of the tv, and munching on various snacks.

"so what brings you here?" johnson asked, gesturing the bowl of chips to me but i declined and instead handed him the visitation card in my pocket.

"what is it?" nate moved closer to see as i took a seat.

"visitation for maxwell preston" johnson read aloud.

"you went to see max?!" derek immediately exclaimed.

"who went to see max?" sammy entered the room, securing the zip on his pants.

"savannah, you're not serious" johnson said to me. "if this is about jack saying that he couldn't forgive you, he's just upset. but going to see—".

i threw my head back, "it's not what you think. max has tried calling me a few times, begging me to come and see him, so i did. but i told him about how much damaged he's caused and to never contact me again".

"really?" he asked skeptically.

"yes. you really think i would go there and accept his apology after he's the reason that jack can't even look at me the same anymore" i spoke and retrieved the card back from his fingers.

"well, you need to get rid of that before jack sees it and gets the wrong idea" derek urged and at that exact moment, the front door shut and jack walked in, briefly scanning the room.

"before i see what?" he wondered and i couldn't help, but move uncomfortably in my seat at his presence.

"nothing" derek replied. "it's nothing".

"hey, jack?" a female voice called. her heels tapped against the floor as she followed into the living room along with a bottle of wine. "where should i put this?".

i instantly frowned, trying to figure out if i recognised the brunette standing beside him.

"i bumped into nadine while i was out and i thought that she could hang out with us tonight" jack explained, whilst i swallowed the small lump inside my throat at the mention of the woman's name.

i quickly looked away from them both, looking at the tv and staying quiet as i could feel the other guys glancing at me.

"you mean now?" sammy questioned.

"yeah" jack briefly chuckled, taking off his jacket. "that's not a problem, is it?".

i watched them exchange a few looks, before concluding.

"no, i guess not" derek finalised and the rest of them somewhat muttered to agree too.

i could barely believe that jack was choosing to hang out with the woman that he cheated on me with. he's acting as if i'm not even in the room.

i mean, i know that we're not on the best of terms right now, but this just a complete stab in the back.

"uh," i picked up my bag and stood up from the couch. "i-i think that i'm gonna go".

"savannah, you don't have to" johnson subtly shook his head.

"no, it's fine" i tried my best to smile at him. "i'll text you".

i went around the minimal space beside jack and nadine and headed towards the door.

"savannah, wait" nadine suddenly stopped me outside the living room. "i just hope that because of the past, there isn't any hard feelings between us".

i looked at her as if she were crazy, "seriously?".

"yeah.jack obviously wants me in his life and since you're somewhat apart of that too, despite what happened with that max guy, maybe we could learn to be friends" she explained.

"sure," i smiled in the most sarcastic way possible, although i doubt that she noticed. "why not".

"good" she smiled back, then turned on her heels to join the others.

"bitch" i rolled my eyes and muttered. i reached for the door again until jack came out to go to upstairs.

"hanging out with the woman that you cheated on me with? great move, jack" i commented and he paused, facing me.

"great move? this isn't a game, savannah" he walked a little closer.

"so, what are you doing then?" i dropped my hands by my side. "or do you not realise that you're hurting me?".

"like you hurt me?" jack remarked and i pressed my lips together, nodding my head as realised what this is all about.

"don't you think i feel bad enough for what happened?" i unintentionally raised my voice. "you're making it seem as though i did it out of spite. there was no room for trust back then, jack. okay, you cheated on me remember?".

"and i was sorry for that" he replied just as loud.

"but, you're not now" i stated, referring to his past tense. "because of course, after i believed a guy that i knew for about six months over you, i pretty much deserved you having sex with another woman now".

"don't put words into my mouth, savs" he edged closer, shaking his head. "i'm hanging out with nadine, not asking her out".

"well...if you don't understand that both ways hurts me equally as much, then this conversation is over" i told him and finally opened up the door. "enjoy your wine with nadine, jack".

i glared at him from head to toe then stepped out with the door, closing loudly behind me.

"so what did you all do?" i wondered, holding the phone to my ear as i played with the tips of my hair.

"we just had some takeaway, a couple of drinks, watched a film" johnson replied.

it's been hours since i left derek's place and apparently, jack left to drop nadine home so i clearly took this as an opportunity to find out what had happened.

"is that it?" i inquired.

johnson huffed out deeply, "yes".

"...really?".

"yes" he emphasised even further. "sammy, help me out. wasn't that all?".

"yes!" i heard him call out in the background.

"i mean, what else could we do? watch her and jack get it on underneath a blanket" he laughed, whilst i kept on a blank face.

"that's not funny".

he calmed down and sighed, "hey, she's actually not that bad, you know. she's laid back, she's pretty funny—".

"wow, thanks jack".

"but if it bothers you that much, we won't hang out with her again" he offered.

"works for me".

"you're being paranoid, savannah!" derek loudly mentioned and i rested my head on the pillow beside me.

"i'm not, i actually don't even care" i tried to lie. "i don't care that jack is trying to replace me with that bitch".

johnson chuckled at my words, "he's not trying to replace you".

at that moment, lauren walked through the front door with a mass amount of shopping bags in both hands.

"yeah, well we'll see about that" i told him. "lauren's home, so i'll talk to you later".

"okay, bye and stop stressing over nadine, you have nothing to worry about".

i softly rolled my eyes, "yeah, yeah, bye".

i hung up the phone and stood up to help lauren carry the bags up to the couch, then settled them in front of us.

"looks like you enjoyed yourself" i said.

"i literally had to force myself to leave every store before i bought the whole of london" she lay back in exhaustion. "but, i managed to get so many things, including those two for you".

"aw, you shouldn't have" i told her, opening the bags to take a look.

"actually, i should have. my best friend was upset and i knew that some brand new clothes would somewhat cure that" lauren said, sitting back up. "so, what did you do today?".

"well, don't react so fast, but i went to see max. but only to tell him to stop calling me and leave me alone for good".

she breathed out with relief and gripped my shoulder, "phew, because i thought that this whole thing with jack was affecting you that bad that you'd let max back into your life".

"then, i went to derek's and jack came back with some company" i added as i admired the brand new outfits and she got up to go to the kitchen.

"who?".

"nadine" i replied, taking one of the glasses of water from her hands.

"wait, who's nadine?" she thought for a second, before gasping aloud. "fuck. the one that he—".

"yep" i sipped my drink.

"and he just invited her over?".

"yep. he didn't even give a shit that i was there and that the whole situation would be uncomfortable for me" i sat back against the couch and folded my arms.

lauren soon followed my actions with a sigh, "honestly, jack can be so stupid sometimes. that was such a dick move".

"tell me about it. i mean, he does shit like this, but how much i desperately love him and want to be with him doesn't even change. not a single bit".

i bit my lip, thinking about how mad jack can sometimes make me, but that doesn't even match up to how crazy i am about him.

"then if you compare that to jack - yeah, he said he loves me, but i doubt he wants to be with me at this point" i settled my glass down. "madison's probably got a better chance of getting him back than i do".

"oh my god, speaking of madison" lauren excitedly hoisted herself up and crossed her legs onto the couch. "guess who's marrying her sometime next year?".

i immediately copied her ways and faced her, "no way! that wesley guy, right?".

"nope, not even him" she spoke with smirk. "there's a new man on the scene, i think his name is james. i heard that the wedding is going to be top-level expensive, because he's an heir to something".

"how have you just told me all of this now?".

lauren cocked her head back, "um, because madison doesn't really come to mind on a daily basis for me".

"aw, so it's true love then?" i questioned and she shrugged.

"yeah, i guess. apparently james really adores her".

"oh, i was actually talking about madison and his money" i corrected, causing her to burst out laughing and i threw head back, doing the same.

"...okay, okay" i sat up properly, trying to calm down my laughter. "but honestly. i still wish the best for that girl and hope that she learns to settle down for the right reasons".

"we'll see" lauren responded, before i grabbed my phone and unlocked it to check any messages and search through social media.

i eventually landed on instagram and began carelessly scrolling through the home page until my eyes caught attention on a particular post.

i stared at the picture as my smile slowly faded and i could feel lauren looking at me concernedly.

"what?" she asked and without answering, i showed her the selfie that jack posted of him and nadine sitting closely beside one another with her head on his shoulder. "he's just doing that to get a reaction out of you".

"i know" i looked at the picture one last time then quickly locked my phone again. "hey, you know how you said we should have a night out soon?".

"sure".

"let's go this weekend. i mean, i have a new outfit now and it'll be good to celebrate before you ditch me for la again".

lauren chuckled and put her arm over my shoulder for hug, "yes, finally! i've been waiting to experience the london nightlife".

"you're such a tourist" i laughed, shaking my head. "it's embarrassing".

"shut up" she playfully hit my arm, just as we already started to plan exactly how our weekend will go.
