jack's pov

i've always hated sundays. they usually consist of me sitting on one end of the table, drowning in paper work and savannah on the other end doing the exact same.

we were sat in pure silence and the only sound heard was the typing on savannah's laptop. i looked up from my work and tapped my pen against jaw, staring at her opposite me before her lips edged into a smile.

"i can feel you staring at me, jack. so stop" she lightly blushed.

"am i not allowed to be mesmerised by your beauty?".

"not when it's sunday evening and i'm in sweatpants and no make-up" she told.

"but that's when you're the prettiest" i smiled, causing savannah to grin with an eye roll until silence filled the air and i began tapping my pen against the table.

i've always been easily distracted after working for too long, but i took this as an opportunity to try and postpone this paperwork as a whole.

"are you seriously trying to play footsie with me right now?" savannah glanced up, biting the tip of the pen in her hand.

i nodded, "i'm bored and watching you concentrate like that is really turning me on".

she raised her eyebrow and folded her arms across her chest.

"don't give me that look - you do it on purpose and you know it" i told her and she chuckled lightly until continuing to type consistently.

soon enough, savannah's phone vibrated against the table and she answered it, holding it freely between her cheek and shoulder.

"hey kendall...yeah, i'm slightly behind schedule and no where near finished...no, i can't get hold of him, but we can do without him until then" she explained through the phone.

i wasn't stupid, i knew very well that they were talking about max. but as a whole, it wasn't a bad thing since trying to ignore it actually helped me concentrate hard on my paper work once again.

it was just after dinner - i had finished all the work that i had been putting off for hours and was watching old walking dead episodes.

whereas savannah was still deep in her work with her half-eaten food getting cold on the side, and also on the phone to now, max.

"one sec...babe, could you put the volume down? i can't hear" she asked me and i decided to take off the tv as a whole since the episode was boring me.

i stood up and sauntered over to her, lightly massaging her shoulders, "baby, i thought that you were almost done".

"i know, but—".

"you need to take a break" i leant down and placed butterfly kisses all over her neck.

"hold on, max" she put the phone to her chest. "babe, i seriously can't afford distractions right now, i need to get this done".

i frowned, "so i'm a distraction now?".

"well right now, yes" savannah said, so i let go of her.

"well, it doesn't seem like max is ever a fucking distraction" i muttered underneath my breath.

"jack, you know very well that it's not like that" she surprisingly heard me. "we're working".

"you know what? it's fine, i get it one hundred percent" i retorted, then headed towards the bedroom, shutting the door behind me.

a few minutes after, i came out in changed clothes and with my jacket in my hand.

"where are you going?" savannah asked.

"out with the guys," i explained, fixing my jacket on in the mirror. "y'know, since you—".

"sorry max, what was that?" she spoke through the phone and i scoffed, shaking my head at what just happened then walked out with the door slamming behind me.

derek, caleb and i decided to head down to a local bar, because it was sunday so we just wanted to chill out and not travel too far.

"so, what bought you out on a sunday night?" derek questioned as we sat down at the drinks bar.

i huffed, "my girlfriend did".

"alright, tell us the details over this first round of beers which are on me" caleb offered before trying to get the bartender's attention.

when our beers arrived, i took a sip then pulled my fingers through my hair.

"i mean, i thought that i was work obsessed, but savs is on another level and it's just the fact that her work has to involve max" i explained.

"is max the guy that she's suddenly become close with?" derek inquired.

i nodded my head, "not just that - he tried to kiss her the other night".

"jack, i told you so!" caleb exclaimed. "never trust a straight guy, who wants to be bffs with another man's girlfriend".

"and now she's at home talking to him on the phone about who knows what" i said through gritted teeth, before anxiously chugging about a quarter of my glass.

derek patted my back after i settled my glass back down, "okay, now that i officially understand what brought you out tonight, it's time to forget that and enjoy yourself mate".

i nodded my head at his words and already had in mind that this would be a really long night.

as time passed, i was still ranting like my life depended on it whilst also being slightly intoxicated with who-knows-how-many-drinks.

"y-you know he even asked me if i was jealous?" i scoffed. "of what? his annoying ass smirk and british accent?"

derek and caleb let out a laugh at my comment until my eyes diverted to the bar entrance behind me.

i narrowed my eyes and scolded as max came towards the drinks bar with theo, "speaking of the devil".

"oh, hey jack!" theo called out with a wave.

"so which ones the infamous max?" derek leant over and whispered.

"you'll see" i said, finishing my drink and harshly placing it down before turning around on the bar stool.

"i didn't know that you come here" theo spoke.

"yeah, well there's always a first for everything" i said, whilst eyeing up max behind him. "and max, i thought that you were too busy talking to my girlfriend?".

he let out a smile, scratching the back of his neck, "hello to you too, jack. but savs and i are colleagues, that's what we do".

"did you just call her savs?" i unstably rose from my seat. "i-i'm the only one who calls her savs, okay, me. it's been like that since we first".

caleb took hold of my shoulder, "settle down, jack".

"what's going on between you two?" theo wondered.

"oh, did you not hear? max tried one on savannah the other day" i announced. "fucking pathetic".

max laughed, "look at you, mate, you're a mess. i think that month around europe will really benefit savannah".

i knitted my eyebrows at his words, "what? what are you talking about?".

"max, he wasn't supposed to know about that yet" theo quietly reminded him.

"so what? he'll be too pissed to remember" he carelessly replied without answering my question, so i stepped forward and grabbed onto his shirt.

"i asked you a question, what did you say?!" i yelled in his face before theo took him out of my hands, and derek and caleb appeared behind me to do the same.

"go and ask your girlfriend that!" he exclaimed, shoving me off him.

"jack, i think it's best if we get you home" derek lightly pulled on my arm.

"no! we're staying. i am not leaving to satisfy this idiot" i snapped, referring to max and sat back down to stay put.

savannah's pov

i left the house to quickly go and buy some food essentials because i knew very well that if i texted jack to do it, he'd say that he forgot since he's mad at me right now.

as i got back into my car, i received a text from theo:

come to the bar on kingsmill street now

jack is pissed and acting up

i huffed at message and rolled my eyes, before turning on the ignition and driving out of the parking space.

i entered the doors of the bar and the first thing that i could hear was an overly loud, familiar voice. i shook my head and immediately walked over to where jack's friends were attempting to restrict him from causing more trouble.

"jack," i spoke up as his head turned to me.

"savs? what are you doing here?".

"theo texted me. come on, that's enough for tonight, let's go" i grabbed onto his arm until he yanked himself out of my hold.

"what? so-so i can sit at home and watch you be more interested in a laptop screen than me?" he raised his voice, causing a few eyes to direct to us.

i ran my fingers through my hair with frustration, "jack, not here, please" i begged.

"hey, we'll take him to the car for you" derek offered and i gave him a thankful smile, as i handed him the car keys and let them escort jack away.

i sighed, folding my arms across my chest, "thanks for texting me, theo. and max, i'm so sorry for whatever trouble jack just caused you".

"you shouldn't be apologising for him" he gently stroked my arm. "it was his mistake, not yours".

"i know, but i'm really going to have to teach him to stop turning to alcohol when we argue" i said, until theo nudged max's arm like he was pushing him into saying something.

"savannah, before you go, you should probably know that...".

i narrowed my eyes, "know what?".

"that i might have told jack about europe" max elaborated and my eyes widened in surprise. "it was an accident".

"what? like you telling him about last friday was an accident too" i snapped, shaking my head in disbelief.

"it just slipped out".

"that doesn't matter. what does, is that my boyfriend probably thinks that i've decided to just get up and go across the entire continent for a month".

he stepped forward, "savannah, i'm sorry".

"....i'll just see you two tomorrow" i mumbled, turning around and leaving to focus on taking jack home.
