savannah's pov

jack, tristan and i all took a flight from london to nevada, where we met with lauren and the guys to rent two cars and drive down to the cabin.

nate, sammy and jack all carpooled in the car behind us, whereas johnson drove our car with lauren in the passenger seat and tristan and i in the back.

"come on, lauren! pick a song, we're almost there" johnson complained, since she had been trying to find, in her words, the perfect song for our journey.

"i'm trying, i'm trying" she quickly scrolled through her phone until the silence was soon filled with the intro to a familiar song.

i listened closely and my chest slightly tightened as i noticed that lauren had selected american by lana del rey.

"we waited ten minutes for this?" johnson frowned, whilst i remembered back to the last time that i heard this song — in the conference room, at work, late at night, and with max.

"actually, can we change the song?" i abruptly spoke up, causing lauren to turn to me in her seat.

"what? savannah, this used to be our favourite".

"i know, but remember what happened months ago that suddenly made me hate this song?" i tried my best to remind her, and it wasn't long until she finally understood.

"oh yeah, i'm sorry. i'll change it" she instantly paused the song, scrolling through her phone again.

i laughed at johnson's impatience as he groaned a loud.

"you know, i can't wait for zayn to arrive tomorrow, at least he loves me" lauren protested.

"this was supposed to be a friends' trip any ways, not a couples' retreat — no offence tristan" johnson immediately defended.

"none taken" tristan brushed off.

"you can't complain, you're the one who was dying to meet him" i mentioned.

"true, this could give us all a chance to get to know him" lauren backed me up and settled to playing some old drake songs.

"fine. tristan, what are your intentions with savannah?" johnson questioned him, causing lauren and i simultaneously roll our eyes.

"here we go. do you have to do this every time savannah and i get a boyfriend?" she inquired.

"yes!" he exclaimed. "it's very crucial. tristan? your answer?".

"well, i intend to be there for savannah, support her dreams, make her happy and make sure that she has the most perfect life" tristan took hold of my hand.

"oh, i didn't expect you to actually have a good answer" johnson scratched his neck.

"tristan's a business man, he's good at thinking on the spot" i proudly told them and he smiled back, before kissing my cheek.

we arrived outside the cabin after a few minutes and started taking all of our luggage out of the car.

"my bag is so heavy" lauren tried her best to carry and pull it out of the trunk.

"here, i'll do it" johnson offered, putting his own things down to help.

"tristan, can you help me with mine?" i kindly asked.

"sure, babe" he carried both his own suitcase and mine in his muscular arms, as lauren and i took our hand luggage from the car.

we're the first to enter the large house, so immediately we hurried upstairs to check out the bedrooms and stalled the guys with our suitcases, so that we could choose the best ones.

we quickly observed all seven rooms to check the obvious pros and cons, then finally came to a decision.

"i found my one, how's yours looking?" i leant against the doorframe.

"great, made sure i had the best en suite too" she said.

"we do this every time and the guys still fall for it" i laughed and we could hear them coming inside the house, so we stood on the balcony at the top of the stairs to look down at them dragging in our things.

"you could help with the other bags, you know?" johnson told us.

"you fell for it again, didn't you?" jack figured out.

nate snickered at him and messed up johnson's hair, "they tricked you into carrying their bags for them, so that they could get the best rooms".

"how do i keep falling for that?!" johnson exclaimed, dropping lauren's bags onto the floor.

"to be fair, we're the only girls on this trip so we need to stick together" i explained.

"i guess it's only your loss, because savannah and i are sharing any ways" tristan added.

"then i get next pick" johnson hastily announced.

before i knew it, the guys were all rushing upstairs like children and pushing each other out of the way to find the next best room.

after settling to who's room is who's with an intense match of rock, paper, scissors between both jacks, i started to unpack a few of my clothes with lauren merely helping me.

"so," she clasped onto the double bed, then lay on her stomach to face me. "update me on your crazy life, savannah".

"update you?" i questioned her, continuing to add clothes onto hangers. "i tell you everything 24/7".

"i know, but i want the full details" lauren explained and i laughed at her eagerness. "y'know, i was so surprised when you told me about tristan. don't get me wrong, he's a good guy but what about jack?".

"what about him?" i asked.

"when i was visiting, i was sure that eventually you and him would get back together".

i shrugged, not knowing how to respond, "jack said that he couldn't be with me".

"i know, but—".

"was i just supposed to wait around forever?" i cut her off. "i was surprised too when i fell for tristan, but i really like him, lo".

lauren's lips formed into a smile, "i can tell. i'm happy for you".

"thank you" i said, adding my last piece of clothing into the closet. i sat down beside her once i was finished. "now, what about you and zayn? any updates?".

"not really. i mean, we live together and everything so i don't think you can go to the next level unless it's marriage".

my eyebrows raised with surprise, "and do you think he's ready for that?".

"i don't know" lauren replied, anxiously biting on her lip.

"are you ready for that?".

she started smiling at the thought, "...maybe"

"oh my gosh, your wedding would be so cute" i gushed with excitement. "i can already picture the dress — a princess type, right?".

"nah, i've moved onto the lace designs and the fitted dresses" lauren corrected, before she started laughing to herself. "listen to us, he hasn't even purposed and we're acting like we're ready to go dress shopping".

"it's never to early to prepare" i assured her until we started engaging in a much more deeper conversation about wedding dresses, venues and even our dream colour schemes.

jack's pov

for dinner, the guys and i decided to go out and buy some burgers and fries to bring back to the cabin. we knew that everyone was way too tired to cook, and this was technically the next best thing.

"we're home with food!" nate loudly announced as we came through the door with numerous bags of hot meals.

lauren and savannah came hurrying down the steps to follow us into the kitchen.

"yes, i'm starving" lauren groaned and immediately tried to dig into one of the bags, but nate slapped her hand to stop her.

"wow, tristan is still on the phone?" johnson stated as we could faintly hear him talking in the next room.

savannah gathered up a few plates, "yeah, it's a business call".

"well," sammy rubbed his hands together. "he's missing out on the warm food".

nate started taking out the meals from the bags and handed them to the designated person.

"steak burger for sammy, chicken burger for jack, hamburger for me...chilliburgers for johnson and savannah, then steak burger for tris—".

"wait, chilli burger? no, i ordered a chicken burger" savannah told him, looking inside the bags to double check.

"i told you" sammy mumbled, chewing on a big bite of his burger already.

"yeah, thanks for the heads up" nate harmlessly swatted his arm.

i handed my chicken burger to her, "here savs, you can have mine".

"no, it's okay" she sat up on one of the stools to brush it off.

"no, have it" i placed it on the plate in front of her. "i know how you only like the chicken one any ways".

savannah raised an eyebrow at me, "are you seriously giving away your food? well, that's a first".

"do you want it or not, because i can decline my offer?" i told her and she shielded the burger before i could take it back.

"thank you" she said, giving me a tingly smile.

we all sat at the island bar, indulging in our food and talking about our plans for the next few days. tristan was still on the phone next door, but i could care less about that at the moment.

i ate a few of my fries, brushing off the fact that i was consistently catching savannah glancing and staring at my remaining burger beside me.

"you're looking at my burger" i finally mentioned and she shook her head, before focusing back on her own.

"was i?".

"yeah. if you want a bite, all you have to do is get on your knees and beg" i said to her and she rolled her eyes at my words.

"i'm not going to beg you, i have my chicken burger any ways" savannah proudly sat up straighter in her seat, although i wasn't buying it.

"exactly, the chicken burger that i miss and stupidly gave up for you".

"don't act like you didn't want to, you did it because you love me, okay" she teased and it annoyed me how that sentence didn't seem like just a joke to me now.

"so, do you want a bite or not?" i chuckled and she nodded like a happy child, so i slid my plate over to her.

she took a bigger bite than i intended and managed to get the chilli sauce on the middle of her chin.

i laughed at her messy face, "do you even know how to eat a burger?".

"yes!" she exclaimed, still trying to chew and swallow her bite.

"i'd second guess that" i smirked and used a nearby tissue to help wipe her face.

"i'd second guess your eating skills too" savannah giggled, pointing to my dirty hands. "and also, that burger looked better than it tasted".

"so, i let you take a bite then you insult my food?" i raised my brow and reached over to try and touch her face with my unclean hands, but she was quick to push my arm away.

"jack, don't" she told me with a hint of a smirk in her voice.

i obviously wasn't going to listen, so she started backing away from me as i tried my best to get some more of this sauce on her.

she laughed and constantly threatened me if i dared, but i eventually grabbed onto her waist as she moved in fits of laughter, and managed to get it on her sleeveless arm and some on her shirt.

"you're so annoying!" savannah shouted as i grinned at my achievement.

interrupting our banter, tristan walked into the kitchen so i released from savannah's waist and straightened up, before we both sat back down in our seats.

"i'm officially ready to eat" he picked up his own plate and tried to find his food in the current mess in the kitchen.

"sorry to disappoint you, but your food must be ice by now" johnson told.

"i know, but i had some unfinished work business to deal with - i had to confirm some important contracts" tristan explained to us, even though no one technically asked.

"well, at least you're here now" savannah said and he kissed the top of her head just as he went to the microwave to reheat his food.
