fifty-two
savannah's pov
dad, jack and jack soon came back upstairs, talking and laughing extremely loud with two bottles of alcohol in their hands.
mom folded her arms across her chest and smirked, "what are you boys talking about?".
"oh, just men stuff" my dad relaxed his laughter and replied, yet us girls rolled our eyes at his answer.
"so, when are you going back to london? don't tell me anytime soon" andrea questioned me.
"woah, you're going back there by yourself? in this state?" mom panicked.
i examined the worried expressions on my family's faces.
"well, yeah. my job, my house, everything's in london" i told them.
"and she'll have me" jack lightly raised his hand.
"well, at least stay until you're slightly better. your mother and i would feel less paranoid if you were here with us" dad settled the wine bottles on the table.
"yeah, see it as a longer vacation since the cabin didn't work out for the best" johnson added.
i bit the inside of my cheek, thinking about what they were saying. it wouldn't be the worst thing staying with my family a little longer and having their support would help a lot.
"i don't know..." i said.
"i'll be here too" jack spoke up after.
my eyes widened, "what? no, you need to go home, get back to work and—".
"savs, i said that i was going to be here for you and i will" jack came and rested on the arm of the couch. "i'm staying in la until you're close to being back on your feet whether you like it or not".
i looked up at him as i couldn't bear myself to say no at the warm smile on his face or those dark, brown eyes.
"...okay" i eventually agreed, smiling back at him.
andrea happily hugged me and my mom left to collect a few glasses for us all.

as soon as i found out about my injury, i was so sure that i would be bored out of my mind from being housebound for most of my time.
but today, jack and johnson decided to stay a little longer to keep me company, since andrea had to leave for work and my parents went grocery shopping.
the boys helped me upstairs to go and look at my old room. there wasn't much left that was really sentimental to me because of college, then moving in with lauren and then london.
so it was pretty much just like a guest room now.
i settled on the double bed, up against the headboard. johnson sat on the edge and jack placed himself on the plastic desk chair.
"wow, the childhood bedroom of savannah brooks" jack announced, examining it with his eyes.
"it always feels so weird coming in here" johnson added.
i chuckled at their fascination, "why?".
"i don't know" he shrugged. "i mean, before you weren't allowed to have any boys in your room, this was the spot for us three".
"yeah, when we were like eleven, we used to sneak food in here so much that my room got bugs" i mentioned.
jack laughed, "we can blame johnson for that one".
"me? you're the one that couldn't eat without making a mess until you were 15. savannah can back me up on this one" johnson lightly nudged my foot.
jack glanced at me to hear my response and i bit my teeth together since i knew he wouldn't like the answer he was about to get.
"i'm sorry, it's true" i spoke, causing johnson to gloat in his face.
"i'm gonna have to rethink if i'm really your favourite jack is now" jack bitterly folded his arms together.
johnson gasped, "you said he was your favourite?".
"what? when did i ever say that?!" i exclaimed.
"you did" jack stood up to sit backwards on the chair. "it was a few months back and you said that i've always been your favourite".
i turned to johnson, "he's lying, he's just trying to feed his ego. you know that you're my number one, johnson".
johnson smiled proudly at my defense as jack rolled his eyes back.
"any ways, dude, how's that woman that you've been talking to?" jack inquired, tapping his hands on the back of the seat.
"what woman?" i wondered.
johnson started to grin, "she's good, we're planning our third date now".
"third date?" jack replied in a slight surprise. "wow, so where are you thinking?".
i turned my head back and forth at their conversation. i completely out of the loop and pretty offended at them ignoring me.
"um, hello? what woman?" i asked again.
"she's just this co-worker that i started seeing just before we left for the cabin trip" johnson finally responded.
"what the fuck? when was anyone going to tell me?! i always tell you whenever i start dating a guy".
"but that's different - i have to approve first".
"yes and i have to approve of this woman" i corrected. "why didn't you tell me?".
"like you told me about you and jack two years ago" johnson raised his brow, a smirk sitting on his lips.
"that was a two person job, he should be punished too" i pointed to jack.
"but i'm me" he shrugged with a smug smile. "he forgave me because you can't have jack and jack without me".
i picked up one of my pillows and threw it at jack's pleased face, before forcing them both to give me more details on the girl johnson is seeing.

later that day, johnson left to go back home, and jack and i sat on my old bed, watching a movie on the tv.
well, technically i was the only one watching since jack fell asleep in the first half an hour and started snoring directly in my ear.
it was now 9pm, so i shook him lightly to wake him up and he suddenly jolted as his eyes opened.
"sorry" i apologised.
he scratched the back of his neck, "how long was i out for?".
"you basically missed the entire movie, but it wasn't that good any ways" i explained, switching off the tv. "but you should head to your parents' house - get some sleep".
jack sat up a little and shook his head at my words.
"i spent three days in a hospital chair, so i'm fine here. honestly, i'm not even that tired" he shrugged.
i raised my brow at him, "jack, you just stated my exact reason as to why you need to go home and get some real sleep. please, i'll be okay".
i touched his arm and gave him a look of assurance, so he sighed and stroked my cheek.
"...okay" jack got up off the bed. "but before i leave, do you need anything?".
"no, i think i'm good" i told as he picked up his phone to request an uber.
"are you sure? do you need a drink? help getting in the shower or changing clothes, maybe your pillow is too flat or—".
"jack, i think i can manage" i cut him off and smiled sweetly.
"but what if you hurt yourself?" he added.
"my parents are just downstairs and andrea will be back here soon".
"maybe you need something from the store? i could head out and then bring it—".
i interrupted him with a chuckle at the adorable, concerned look on his face. this man will always go above and beyond for me.
"jack, listen to me. i'm going to be fine, so you don't need to worry" i emphasised. "you've been amazing all day, so you just need to rest. okay, please. for me".
he eventually nodded his head, but couldn't leave without quickly fluffing my pillow for me. i giggled at how much he was fussing.
"i'll be over first thing tomorrow" he promised as he stood over me, and i smiled with awe at him.
before he could turn to leave, i gently took his arm.
"thank you again, jack. for staying in la with me" i spoke in a whisper.
jack bent down to kiss the top of my head, "there was no way that you were getting rid of me that easily".
he winked and i bit back a smile until he went on his way to leave the house.
