Aella POV

Time skip (when she got home about an hour and a half later)

I walked into my house quietly trying not to get noticed by my mom. I tiptoed carefully past her but then heard her strict end of the day voice.
"Where have you been little miss runaway?"
I froze. "Uh playing with uh little baby Jack." I lied. My mom didn't know about my floating island I normally go to. And I didn't want her to figure out anytime soon.
"Well I needed you to come home half an hour ago. You still have to prepare your stuff for your trip to the End." She explained.
I sighed. "Why can't I do that next week? I still have fourteen more days."
My mom turned around to face me. "Go to your room to pack. Why can't you be more obedient for once?"
I hung my head low and left the room without saying a word. This is one of the reasons why I wanted it to be my birthday sooner. To escape my mom's scoldings. She thinks it's such a big deal that I'm leaving the Aether for a couple of weeks. She's gonna throw a huge party for me with all of our family members and friends. There's gonna be lots of food and presents. I think it's a little too much. No one can stop my mom from doing this. The only person that could was my dad. But he disappeared five years ago.
When I got to my room I took out my backpack and list the things I needed. I looked at the paper and checked things off as I went.

Time skip (about twenty minutes later. But it felt like hours)

When I had finally finished packing, I heard some knocking at the door.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Uh your cousin Alexia. Fourteen years old, has blond hair with-"
"Okay you don't have to start explaining all that! I know what you look like!" I complained.
"Can I come in?" Alexia asked. Her voice was a bit muffled on the side of the door that I
was on.
"Can I come in?" She asked.
"Yeah sure."
She opened the door and came and sat on my bed.
"I need to tell you something." Alexia said.
She didn't even bother for an answer.
"One of our Aether villagers is trapped in the Nether. I have to leave in three days to go get them back. I'm sorry but because of that, I won't be able to make it to your birthday party." My cousin explained.
My face fell at that.
"But I want you to be here to see me at my party." I whined.
"I'll leave your present with your mom. You can open it early if you want."
"But it still won't be the same."
"I know but it's just how it is. I have to get that Aether being before any Nether being notices. You know we're enemies with them."
Alexia stood up and left the room. She closed the door silently. I could hear her footsteps get fainter as she got farther away.
I sat there in silence for a few seconds. I then broke the silence by opening my window and jumped through. I unfolded my wings and let the air gather up underneath them. I flapped up and ended up flying above our village. Some of the people looked up and waved at me. I looked at them and waved back.
I went to one of the medium sized floating islands and rested there. Tears welled up in my eyes and I started crying. I tried not to cry too loud so people would hear so I hugged my knees to my chest. I put my head in my knees and let the tears fall onto my chestplate.
Why does Alexia have to leave? Now that's four siblings that can't make it. I thought to myself. In my mind I was screaming at myself.
I suddenly felt a warm hand rest on my shoulder.
I looked up and couldn't believe my eyes.

Sorry for the cliffhanger and short chapter. By the way I'm sorry for not using anyone's characters but for the next few chapters I won't have them in yet.
