Chapter Ten

Aella POV

A few short minutes later, we went through the gates into the Jeweled Verdant Kingdom. The beautiful night sky was splattered with stars in all types of random directions, and right in the middle of the it was the glowing pearl white moon slowly but surely moving to the other edge of the horizon.
We sat on our horses and led them through the huge gates and into a large village that bustled with villagers, hybrids, changelings, elementals, glitches, and a few friendly looking mobs.
Brick, wood, and stone houses and buildings lined the streets with people and mobs scurrying in and out quickly, yet calmly. The pavement was studded with emeralds and sapphires and a cobblestone base underneath them all. Every single one of the glistening jewels cast off this eery glow that caught my attention for a few brief seconds.

The most beautiful part of the kingdom was the palace at the top of a smallish mountain across from the town. It was glowing slightly green and had spiral towers going so high that one of them was nearly poking the clouds. The windows were different shades of green stained glass with the occasional black stone splattered here and there. It was as magnificent as my Aunt and Uncle's palace back in the Aether.

As I passed dozens of curious villagers and mobs, they gave me peculiar looks that caused a shiver to run up my spine. I never liked people staring at me like that. There was one strange girl that hitched my sight to her direction. She was glaring at me with her glowing violet eyes, and a strange looking black tall creature with glowing green eyes stood right beside her. The girl had large black and violet wings folded in just barely noticeable behind her back with miniature spikes facing outwards on the tips. Covering her tall pale body was a long sleeve sleek black dress with rippled frills cascading out from underneath. The outfit was just surrounding her thighs which looked oddly uncomfortable, but telling by her expression she didn't seem to notice. Going just a couple inches below her dress were a pair of raven black boots with thick metallic violet buckles on the sides that reminded me quite clearly of Nashira's boots, but much much longer. Her long glowing purple hair was swirling down her back gracefully and spiralling up a bit in an elegant manner. A quite complicatedly coloured and oddly shaped bow was slung over her back and she fiddled with the multicoloured string as she glared at me. The colour of the bow did not match with her outfit at all which made her seem quite unusual looking in the crowd of people.

I did my best to avoid eye contact with the strange girl but it was quite difficult to with her violet eyes piercing through my body. I turned my head and shifted my gaze back over to the beautiful place we were headed to. Its tall spiralling towers and beautifully polished surface looked quite welcoming.

We eventually made it over to the giant palace and it looked just as beautiful as in the distance. Green dressed guards marched around the perimeter in a cheerful way instead of the usual strict guards I saw whenever I roamed through the halls of the Aether palace. Some even held a tiny skip in their walk as if they were enjoying their job. It seemed like Queen Halla was quite the kind person.
We walked across the long rich brown bridge with glistening green-ish blue water rippling and swirling underneath us almost in a welcoming matter. Four guards escorted us through the long hallways with maids and servants bustling about clutching trays and silver platters of all kinds of dishes. They all had a huge grin on their faces, but shot me a curious look as their gaze shifted over to my Aether-like features. I guess they'd never seen another Aether being before.
My footsteps echoed down the long corridors and paintings of nature, sunlight, pets, and all kinds of stuff were placed here and there. The frames were glistening silver with jewels studding the corners. One thought came to mind thought when I saw no portraits of Queen Halla herself. Did she not like looking at herself? Did she not want to be recorded in the history of the kingdom? I guessed she never really liked showing herself to the public. But that was quite surprising with all the kind villagers who didn't seem to have the courage to criticize her.

We stopped at two magnificent sized double doors and Alli leaned into me and muttered in my ear.
"Please be as kind and polite as you can Aella. Halla can be quite... Umm........... Unpredictable.... At times."

I slowly nodded my head in response. I wasn't quite sure what Alli meant by that but made sure to glue those thoughts into my mind as rapidly as I could.
Two forest green dressed guards pulled the handles of the doors and they slowly opened revealing a large room with rich chocolate brown rafters streaking the ceiling. Giant transparent emerald green pillars glistened and cast off this soft glow to the room. A long black, green, and brown carpet with strange patterns woven through the edges wove itself across the room and travelled to the other side in an elegant fashion. The entire place was incredibly calm with a few maids wandering throughout the area holding trays of jewels, food, and folded squares of fabric.

My eyes shifted over to the very end of the room which held a young girl seated on an emerald glistening throne. She had her soft chocolate brown hair woven into a smooth braid that twisted to one side and snaked down her shoulder. A single sky blue streak was laced into the left side of her hair and cast off this slight glow to the side of her face. A long and elegant green robe was placed on her shoulders with the sleeves falling over her hands, and underneath was a white blouse with small spirals of lime green flaking miscellaneous areas. Her sleek black shorts looked extremely comfortable, and stopped at just the right length. A thick brown leather belt hung around her waist with a single large emerald in the middle for the clasp that shone and glistened in the moonlight that poured in through the windows. Her small feet had a pair of brown fluffy boots with Pom-poms dancing around the sides in an ecstatic way.

Last but not least, her eyes. They were a beautiful toxic green that almost seemed to light up the entire room. It held a soft green glow around her pale face, and looked like a pair of emeralds that had been soaking in a pool of crystal water. They glistened as her gaze shifted to different directions cheerfully, and I just couldn't take my eyes off them. Like a beautiful rich green field that swayed and spiralled in the sunlight. Or maybe a forest of thick green leaves hanging from the largest trees I had only ever seen in pictures. Or it just might be the streakingly toxic green of a potion that would make you spring so high in the air, it was like flying. Who knows where those green eyes came from.

The girl (which I presumably assumed as Queen Halla) had her feet up tucked into her legs as she leaned across one side of her large throne inspecting some fabric a maid held on a silver tray. She held one greenish blue square of the silky surfaced object, but put it down when her gaze met all of us approaching her. With a swift gesture of her hand, the maid scurried off with the tower of fabrics that had once been inspected and disappeared out the door.
Halla swung her feet out and the Pom-poms danced once again. She stood up and brushed herself off, and looked at all of us. A warm smile spread across her lips as I came into her vision. Alli tapped on my shoulder and motioned for me to bow down with them. I went on one knee and slowly descended to the floor trying to act as polite as I could.

"Stand up my friend. There is no need to be so formal at this moment." Chuckled Queen Halla.

I was slightly confused but got up anyway. Well Alli sure was right about Halla being nice. She was one of the kindest girls I'd have ever seen.
Alli stepped up. His face stern but still compassionate.

"We'd like to introduce Aella your majesty." He explained calmly.

I pulled my hands behind my back and fiddled with them as Halla's eyes met mine once again. She grinned even bigger as she walked up to me. She held out her hand and I gladly shook it as her eyes skimmed over my appearance.
The young queen looked up again and turned her head over to one of the maids dusting off one of the emerald pillars. She had a mound of hazelnut brown hair piled up on top of her head in a messy way, and a pair of sweet rosy cheeks.

"Go get miss Aella cleaned up if you please. I'd like to organize a place for her to stay for a few days." Halla ordered happily but still sternly.
The maid looked at me and quickly put her duster away. She scurried over to me and gestured for me to follow her. I agreeingly nodded in response and followed after her out of the throne room and down the long hallways.

"Where did you uncover her existence?" Questioned Queen Halla. Her dark brown braid swaying against her back as she paced back and forth in the throne room.

"Approximately ten blocks away from a creeper crater deep in the forest your majesty." Replied Alli. His stood straight and tall beside Halla's emerald throne awaiting any questions she were to give him.

"Did she fight back at all?"

"No miss. She was too injured to do so even if she wanted. When I inspected her though, she seemed like quite a skilled fighter. It-"

"What type of injuries?" Cut off the young queen. She sounded quite worried for Aella, and wanted to make her feel at home as she could.

"A broken wing, bruised chest, bleeding hip, and slightly sprained ankle. They were quite minor, but I do worry about her wing. It was almost like a person did it, like on purpose!" Alli explained. Sadness and worry tingled and hung in his voice as he talked about Aella's injured wing. He had slight feelings for her ever since he laid eyes on her.

"Wing?" Halla questioned?

"Yes. I forgot to mention to you that miss Aella is an Aether being. She still hasn't explained what happened to her, and I don't suggest you ask until she's all settled in and has enough Minecraftians to trust. Showing from her appearance, I assume she's been through a lot lately and needs time until she sets off again."

Halla's feet stopped moving. Her back was turned to Alli and her emerald eyes were widened in shock. Her chest expanded and fell as her breaths became brief and heavy.

Alli approached her worriedly. "M-miss? Are you well?"

Halla's eyes and breathing calmed down. She took in a sharp breath and replied. "Y-yes Alleski. I am quite alright. I-I just.... Need to retire for the night...... If you please."

Alli nodded and his expression painted into a calm look. "As you wish your majesty. Have a good night." And with that he walked out of the throne room, and down the long twisted hallways towards his room. As soon as he disappeared out the door and his footsteps were nothing but audible, Halla regained her posture and walked out as well. She needed to have a quick talk with Aella about her species.

Guys, I apologize so so much for not updating this in so long. I've been getting too carried away in Dragons, Enders, Attack and completely forgot about all the people reading this one. Fortunately though, updates will get more frequent since I'm not really having to worry about my other books anymore. For the next few months, I'm gonna update in a continuous schedule going from DEA (Dragons, Enders, Attack!), Aether, and AwaS (Angel with a Shotgun). So for all of you AwaS readers, get ready for an update that'll actually be written by me!
Anyways, sorry for the long rant. See ya'll later!
Baaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!
