Chapter 15: Catastrophe
"Bubbles, you'll be sleeping in this room with Charles."
"Leave me alone." said Charles. Bubbles was... not ready.
"And Violet, you'll be sleeping in this room with Emily and Aiden." It was the two rascals at lunch.
"Violet, tell Aiden that I'm not dumb."
"But it's true."
"Is not!"
"Is too!"
"Is not!"
"Is too!"
"Have fun." Smiled Starflight.
That night was long and painful.
"Is not!"
"Is too!"
Violet checked the time. It was midnight. How could they keep up this argument for so long? Violet was getting a headache. She decided to go for a walk, as far away from those two as she could. She found herself going on top of the mountain, which unexpectedly, Bubbles laid. Bubbles was also shocked.
"Hey Violet. Why are you up here?" Violet shuddered.
"My roommates wouldn't stop arguing."
"Oh."
"Why are you up here?"
"Every time I moved a little, made a slight noise, she would just burst into tears. I plan on going back down if she's asleep." Violet walked over to Bubbles.
"Mind if I sit here?"
"Sure. I don't care."
They laid there for about half an hour. Bubbles was already asleep. Violet gazed at the stars, and started wondering. Why was she here? Why did she follow Bubbles? Was it because she had nothing else to do? Why? She looked over at Bubbles snoring. Was it to be nice? Violet was confused. She saw no other reason to help him other than to be his friend. She started closing her eyes, and thought she saw a dragon fly by her face, but she was too tired to examine it.
The next day, Bubbles woke up to falling down the side of the mountain. Luckily he was a light sleeper, and easily steadied himself in the air. He hovered just inches above a pit of spikes. Who would've done this? Violet was the only one who knew where he was, and she is quite mysterious, but he decided not to jump to conclusions. He examined the spikes, but not a single talon print was left anywhere. Not even a scent. He flew back up to his sleeping spot, and Violet was there, sleeping, but no other signs of what pushed him off or who put the trap at the bottom of the mountain. Bubbles was being quiet to concentrate. But it was a little too quiet.
Violet wasn't breathing.
He ran over to her and started doing chest compressions. He checked frequently to see if she was breathing. He turned her head to see that it was bleeding. He quickly flew her into the mountain, letting everyone figure out what was going on.
"Don't... Die on me..." Said Bubbles, about ready to burst. His eyes leaked tears every now and then, but he tried to keep it in. Two nurses came and scooped up Violet, and immediately took her to the emergency room.
Bubbles went to bed that night, and cried himself to sleep.
That night, Bubbles dreamed about loosing his friends. One just vanished, and the other suffered a serious injury What was Bubbles going to do? The room was black. He spotted beading red eyes straight in front of him. Another one appeared next to him, and more and more started appearing. Soon, there were hundreds. Thousands. Millions. All until everything was red. Deep, blood red. Voices from the abyss started whispering "Why did you do this?" "It's all your fault." "You shouldn't have done this." "WHY DID YOU KILL THEM?"
Suddenly, Bubbles woke up. It was midnight, and everyone else was asleep. He stared at his shadow in the moonlight as if something was... off. Then, it moved. Bubbles knew it! He chased the shadow down the hall, until it slid under a knife on the floor. The shadow slowly went from 2-D to 3-D, sending chills down Bubble's spine. This must be the work of an animus! The Shadow dragon attempted to stab Bubbles, but he was too slow. Bubbles didn't dare touch the dragon, since he was too weirded out by what he looked like. The shadow tried to stab him again. Bubbles was now wondering what he should do.
"What did you do to Violet?"
The shadow looked in suprise. Did he... know her? He stood motionless.
"She's in the emergency room. Look what you've done."
Slightly confused but worried, the dragon went over to the emergency room and saw violet. He stood lifeless. His hands shook as he raised the knife and twisted his head towards Bubbles, like 'what did YOU do?'. He was terrifying. His shadow grew bigger and meaner, shrinking everything else around him, especially Bubbles. Bubbles thought it would be best if he ran.
