Chapter 1
Fontaine sat in her hiding place. She needed to get away. Get away from her family. This was the only place she really could. It was a shabby small room but it was paradise. No literally the walls were painted like an island. It was amazing. Her hand reached for her IPad. She scrolled through her albums.
"Let's listen to Now that's what I call music 102" she presses play and listened as the music entered her ears through her headphones.
Little did she know that something bad no awful was about to take place on board the very submarine she was on.
'Bang' Fontaine looked up from her screen. 'What was that?' She thought to herself. She pondered it for a minute before coming up with her answer. 'Ant had smashed a plate or something' she repeated inside her head. It was if she was trying to convince herself of the fact that nothing seriously bad had happened. After a while she decided to go get some chips. Slowly she crept out of the hiding place and into the corridor. Her eyes looked around. Not a sound. Not a footstep. No laughter. No voices. No nothing.
"Hello?? Is anyone here??" She asked worried as she stepped into the bridge. No one was there. Something was wrong she could tell. Her eyes scanned the room for something out of place. Suddenly she realised what it was. The pedestal where the emphemycron usually stood was empty.
Now she was scared. Someone had been on the Aronex. "Mom??" She asked into her communicator.
"Hello Fontaine" a man replied then laughed a psychotic laugh. His voice she instantly recognised.
"Where are my family Alpheus?" She demanded. Trying to sound as confident as she could under the circumstances.
"Well here's a riddle. Solve it and it'll lead you to them.
Find me low in the deep below
Find me up high in the sky
Follow the trail through the hail
To the heart of the grove" he ended the call.
"What the hell!!" Fontaine screamed. Before she forgot she wrote down what Alpheus told her. She paced around the bridge. Her eyes searched the room. For some reason she thought there was a chance Alpheus didn't have her family. But in reality she knew he did. She ran into the study. And unlocked the safe with the override code. Her finger tips wrapped around the chronicle of the deep. Her eyes scanned through it for anything that could help her. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. She knew where she had to go. Every cell in her brain told her not to. Every ounce of intelligence in her body knew she shouldn't. But she had to for her family.
