Chapter 18

Make sure you have read the warnings 🙏
_________

Jimin tiredly makes his way out to the kitchen. He obviously didn't go to school today. It would be way too emotional for him, mixed with the fact that it would not be safe either.

He doesn't even know what to feel in his heart anymore. Fear? Regret? Hate? Maybe it's just a mix of all of them...

"Good morning," Taehyung says and looks at his son with concerned eyes. Jimin slept all his troubles away yesterday, so of course his parents are worried sick about him.

"Good morning," Jimin says back as he slumps down in one of the chairs. Oh, how he can't wait to go home and sit in his own chair.

Today is the day they are going to give Yoongi the money. The culprit had the nerve to text Jimin after sending the picture, saying he should bring the money to his apartment, which Jimin learned a long time ago wasn't even his own.

Jimin can't even think about stepping foot inside there again. The fact that the memories he has from that place seems good and happy almost makes him even more angered. He doesn't want to remember a single moment with that prick.

He has honestly turned Jimin's life upside down with a snap of his fingers. Taken his home. His love. His freedom. Right now Jimin doubts he'll even get that back when they have given up the money.

The morning goes on rather slowly. Jungkook joins them later and works a little on his computer before there isn't much time until they have to deliver the money. However, they don't get very far without getting into an argument.

"Forget it Jimin, I'm going," Jungkook says sternly, having placed the bag filled with all the money on the floor. It's heavy and almost busting from how much money there is.

"What are you saying!? It's me who caused the problem, why won't you let me fix it?" Jimin fires back. They have been fighting about who should bring the money to Yoongi for about an hour now.

"It's not safe! He might attack you," Jungkook hisses and crosses his arms.

"Exactly! If he hurts you, I'll never be able to live with myself... I have hurt enough people because of this," Jimin states sadly. He can't let another person dear to him get in the claws of Yoongi.

"None of this is your fault. Whatever happens is purely because of Yoongi, and when I have given him the money, he can't stop us from contacting the police. He won't threat us any longer," the elder states.

Jimin sighs loudly and tugs his hair. He can't go through with this.

"I think he's right Jimin, it's not safe. Jungkook can defend himself if needed," Taehyung butts in.

"What if he's armed? Even Jungkook won't be able to do anything against a gun. Might as well him me as him," Jimin says. He tries to grab the bag from Jungkook's hold roughly, but he doesn't suceed.

"I'm going. This is final. You'll stay here with Taehyung and we'll all make it out alive, understood?" this time, Jungkook's voice is heavy with dominace. What he said wasn't a suggestion. It was an order.

Jimin can feel the tears sting in the back of his eyes. He feels like he's a child again, helplessly trying to hold his parent back from doing something dangerous. But the parent just shrugs him off, not listening to the desperate pleads. It's frustrating.

"Why won't you listen!? I'm the one who should be getting hurt! Not you, not Tae, not Hoseok. I can't deal with one more sacrifice on my conscience..." he says and looks down.

It's always worse for the people around a person getting hurt than the person themselves. That's the worst part about being in a family. You can't help but want to keep them safe at all costs.

Jungkook sighs and places the bag on the floor. He walks over to Jimin, and to the younger's big surprise, Jungkook pulls him into a tight hug. They hug so rarely that Jimin fumbles a little with his arms before he hesitantly wraps them around his father's bigger frame.

"I promise you Jimin, Yoongi won't get near me. He knows it's too much of a risk to hurt someone like me, more likely kill me. As we said before, he's a bitch but he's not stupid," Jungkook pulls away and holds his son's shoulders, "so I need you to trust me."

Jimin looks at him, biting his lip to helplessly try and keep his tears back. After a few second of struggling, he nods his head ever so slightly before he's pulled into another embrace.

"I-I'm so sorry... f-for all of this," he mumbles against Jungkook's chest. He soon feels Taehyung join the hug behind him.

"You don't have to be sorry Jimin," he whispers and kisses his son's hair. His heart is heavy, he's just as scared about Jungkook leaving them as Jimin is... but he just needs to trust Jungkook right now, even though it's hard to do so.

Jimin sniffs and holds back as many tears as he can. He doesn't want to let go of Jungkook as the elder motions to pull back. Jimin feels like his father will slip right through his fingers if he does.

"Trust me, okay?" Jungkook says again and pulls away completely. Jimin nods and dries his eyes as Jungkook grabs the bag again. Before he turns to leave, he stops in front of Taehyung and pulls him into a hug too.

"Please be careful, I can't lose you too," he whispers as they hug each other tightly. This is a little to real... a little to close to a final goodbye.

"You won't," Jungkook replies and leaves a lingering kiss on Taehyung's temple before letting go.

He goes for the door and opens it. He turns around and smiles at them, "I love you guys."

With that, he leaves the apartment.

Taehyung and Jimin stand still and look at the door for a while.

"It will be okay..." Taehyung says and holds around Jimin's shoulders. Anyone would be able to tell that those words came out broken and insecure. Jimin feels his body shake when he feels his father's fear.

"All we can do now is wait..." Taehyung says as he drags them to the table so they can sit down and relax.

If everything goes well, it won't be long before Jungkook is back. They keep telling themselves that as they pace around, sit down and stand up restlessly for the next hour.

They barely talk, both having their nerves outside their clothes and minds in another place.

Another hour passes and they are about to get impatient. Scared for that matter.

"What's taking him so long? He should be back now..." Jimin gulps and walks over to his father who has been walking back and forth in front of the kitchen the entire time.

"Maybe... he just had a few... complications?" Taehyung gulps but he doesn't sound convincing in the slightest.

"For two hours?" Jimin cries out, feeling his heart increase it's pace. Taehyung bites his lip as he grabs his phone quickly. He looks through the contacts and searches for the familiar number.

Please be okay. Please be okay. Please be okay.

Taehyung rants the same sentence over and over in his head as he waits for the other line to answer. After a few minutes, his stomach takes an uncomfortable turn as it goes to voicemail and he drops the device back on the table.

"H-He can't be hurt... right? P-Please tell me he can't," Jimin says as he looks pleasingly up at his father who's just as conflicted.

"I don't know Jimin... I don't know..." he replies, his voice empty from emotion. He lets Jimin fall into his arms, hugging him tighter than ever before.

"I can't live if something happens to him," Jimin whispers. Not him too... he can't do that.

Taehyung gulps and frowns, hiding his face in his son's hair. The only thing in his mind is prayers that Jungkook will be okay. Is okay. He can't lose the love of his life. Not again.

The pair seems lost when the phone suddenly starts buzzing. Taehyung jumps up and grabs it so quickly he almost losses his balance on the way. Without even looking at the display, he takes the call.

"H-Hello?"

Jimin is staring at Taehyung with awaiting eyes as the other person on the phone tells Taehyung something that makes his eyes blow wide.

Jimin helplessly tugs in Taehyung's shirt, desperate for some sort of eye contact or hint that Jungkook is okay and safe. But he never gets it.

Taehyung's mouth falls open as the calls ends, he wasn't quick enough to reply it seems.

"What did it say? Dad?" Jimin hurries, pulling Taehyung's shirt to make him look at him.

It's hard to tell which emotions is filling up Taehyung's eyes. They almost seems lost in disbelief.

Jimin frowns deeply. He calls out his father a few more times before the elder finally seems to get back in his head.

"Tell me!" Jimin hisses, he's mad his father can't just spill it all out. Taehyung blinks a few times before he nods shakingly. He runs a hand through his hair as he let's out a heavy breath. He then turns to his son.

"Yoongi's dead."
