Chapter 32
There will be some stuff at the end of this chapter that you might want to skip if you have read 'baby', there's a lot of backstory most of you probably already know about. I will make a small notice when the time comes.
It's if you don't want to read a long thing about taekook's past which is basically the whole 'baby' book, but here's Jimin's reaction to it and such. There are also some things about his mother, so I still recommend to at least skim-read it <3
I won't spoil further XD
Enjoy ~
__________
"This sucks! Why would people do this? It's a waste of time and energy, considering I could be sleeping right now," Jimin whines as he falls back on the training machine. He and Jungkook are spending some great quality time together a.k.a. Jungkook is currently trying to murder his son.
"Come on Jimin, it's not that bad! You should be used to it by now," the elder chuckles. To say he's enjoying this is an understatement. Training is for Jungkook space where he can really get to think and just be calm and collected. For Jimin it seems more like a warzone.
It has been a couple of days since the 'big' argument and everything has been calm at the Jeon resident. Only one problem. Jimin hasn't seen Yoongi in days now, and he doesn't know what to do. He can't break his parents' trust any further, but how on earth is he supposed to see the elder then?
There's still like, a week and a half left until he's 'ungrounded.'
Hoseok might be on the table, but after Jimin lied to him, the elder has been sternly disagreeing to ever let Jimin do stuff like that again. Or, at least he tried to have that kind of mindset, but he soon surrendered and said that Jimin can use him if needed to.
But Jimin just can't deal with it anymore. He can't bear it in his heart if he fucks up again. After several phone calls with Yoongi, they came to an agreement to wait it out. Considering they can still talk on the phone and Yoongi can visit at school in the breaks, it shouldn't be that much of a problem.
"Next run in 10 seconds," Jungkook's trained voice comes from the side, making Jimin groan. He gets ready and places his hands on the machine, waiting for Jungkook to say 'go.' When the elder does, Jimin starts the workout, already panting.
He has always had a beautiful body, so it hasn't been necessary to work out much. It's not that he doesn't like stuff like sports, it's just that training in a fitness center is so boring! There's nothing to fight for, so why bother?
He struggles at the last few pushes, Jungkook helps him lift a bit so he won't lose his form.
Finally, he reaches 15 and lets the machine's handles go. He leans over to get better airflow, looking down at the ground.
While he's having his head hanging low, a person approaches Jungkook who's busy writing down Jimin's results.
"Excuse me?" a very feminine, fragile voice asks. Jimin looks up and sees a beautiful girl, she's probably around 25 years, long blonde hair put up in a ponytail, her skin is light and she's indeed very beautiful.
Jungkook looks up as well.
"Yes?" he asks.
"We are struggling a little with this machine, do you mind showing us how it works?" her voice is bittersweet and very flirty. Jimin's body runs cold. Is someone flirting with his dad? Ew!!! No! Rule number one, parents are not allowed to flirt. Ever!
Jungkook, being the totally oblivious (or the head-over-heels-for-Taehyung) guy that he is, of course, agrees and follows the girl. There are two other girls standing there, hiding their faces and giggling. Jimin scoffs and watches how Jungkook starts explaining everything for them.
They are barely listening to what he's saying, they are just whispering, giggling and complimenting the elder all the time. It's honestly painful to look at.
After what feels like years, Jungkook finally says his goodbyes to the girls and walks back to his son. Jimin rolls his eyes as soon as their glances meet.
"What? Are you jealous of my attention?" the elder jokes, earning a kick over the shin.
"That was disgusting, why were they flirting with you?"
"They were?"
This man, honestly.
"Of course they were! They weren't even listening to your instructions! They were just looking at your muscles," Jimin huffs. Why is his dad getting more attention than him? Not that he wants it, but it still hurts his pride as a young-adult.
"Guess I'm the lucky one then," another voice beams into the conversation. Taehyung sometimes comes to the fitness center as well, helping out a little with entering and the economy. He's smart when it comes to stuff like that.
Both Jungkook and Jimin flinches, looking at the elder male in shock. Jungkook immediately smiles, walking over to his husband and placing both of his hands on the other's slender waist.
Jimin eyes the girls who are looking in the direction of the couple, slightly puzzled and still whispering things to each other.
"I would say I'm the lucky one," Jungkook says back before sealing their lips together.
Jimin hears the girls gasp and they quickly start bickering about their 'judging sense' which they clearly failed at. Jungkook doesn't really stand out as gay, Taehyung neither (yet he's a bit more feminine) so it's only obvious they would get confused.
"That was so cheesy," the son utters as he looks at his parents making out. What a displeasing sight.
The two pull apart and look at each other for a second before focusing back on Jimin.
"Then you know where you got it from," Jungkook points out.
Jimin puts a hand over his chest, looking offended.
"I'm not cheesy!"
The couple starts laughing out loud, pinching Jimin's cheeks or nipping his side so he gets even more annoyed. Typical family playfulness that has been missing in this one for a while...
But now that it's back, Jimin suddenly remembers something he's still very curious about.
"Hey dad?"
He gets the attention of both of them, but his eyes are focused on Taehyung. The elder nods and waits for Jimin to continue.
"Now that we are free tonight... can we have that talk? About my mother," he asks timidly. He doesn't know why it's a sensitive subject, but he doesn't remember much from his childhood and every time he asks about it, his parents get very panicky.
This time though, Taehyung is completely calm. He smiles and walks over, running a hand through Jimin's blonde locks.
"Of course baby, sorry for holding it back for so long..." he says.
Jimin smiles, saying that it's fine and he'll wait for way longer if needed. He's just so curious he's about to explode. This seems like a good day to talk about it. Everyone is in a good mood.
_____
[If you have read 'baby' this might be a bit lengthy, but I still recommend that you skim-read it <3 But it's not necessary]
The family went back from the fitness center and quickly made some dinner. They even bought snacks on the way home to watch a movie later. A movie after talking for a little while.
Jimin sits down on the couch, pulling his legs to his chest to be more comfortable.
Taehyung and Jungkook sits on the sofa that's diagonally towards the couch. Jimin is leaning a little on the armrest, his eyes big as he waits for his parents to begin their life story.
Taehyung looks back at Jungkook for a second. The younger gives him an encouraging smile and a nod. Their story isn't exactly bright, so it's hard to put it into words. Taehyung turns back towards Jimin, giving him a small smile before he begins.
"Well, I guess we can go all the way back to before you were born," he jumps straight into it, "I was 15 at the time I met your mother. She was absolutely gorgeous and I fell for her at first sight," he smiles fondly, fiddling a little with his hands.
"I approached her and we started talking together a lot. We were amazing together, could always make each other laugh and happy. It was the happiness I craved so much because of my harsh childhood. My father never cared for me, so of course I sought for comfort and love through something else."
He sighs. His story is long and complicated, and he doesn't really like speaking about it. But Jimin does have the right to know. The younger is leaning even more over the armrest, ears almost peeking as he listens to each and every word Taehyung has to say.
"We fell in love. I took her home once or twice, wanting my father to see that I was finally with someone. But the day we came to say Chaeyoung was pregnant, he went mad. Like, mad mad. He locked me up and abused me for weeks, c-calling you the devil's child and wishing nothing but hell upon us," Taehyung sighs, he still remembers those painful times, "but that never stopped me from doing everything I could to be close to you."
Jimin gulps, feeling his heart increasing its pace.
"I cherished you more than anything in the world so when... when Chaeyoung died while giving birth to you, I couldn't hate you. I couldn't give you away, I loved you way too much," he almost whispers, "so I was selfish again. I chose to keep you, even though I could never give you the childhood you truly deserved."
Taehyung takes a deep breath. Jimin is almost crying by now, hearing about his mother dying because of him, even though it wasn't his fault.
"Without support from a family, I struggled a lot with my economy, so I had to work a lot. Jin was kind enough to take care of you while I was gone... the jobs I had were n-not... good. I-" Taehyung feels his throat close up as he thinks about his past self. How he was used for so many years.
He feels Jungkook's caring hand on his waist, his thumb running in circles to calm him down. He takes a deep breath and continues.
"I worked as an escort. Or as a hooker as most would call it nowadays."
Jimin frowns. His father had a job like that? He can't believe his own ears.
"You... why?" he asks.
"Because my father still thought he owned me. And he did in some way. He threatened me about taking you away from me if I quit or told the police. I was scared to death by him, so of course I kept working. Until one day when I passed out and didn't make it in time... I almost lost you."
A faint memory of a hall and Taehyung crying on the ground flashes before Jimin's eyes. So that's what happened.
"That's were Jungkook comes into the picture," Taehyung chuckles. He clearly remember Jungkook's old jock kind of attitude.
"Yeah, we hated each other," the raven spits out. Jimin frowns. How can they have hated each other? "More like, I was your typical popular, rich asshole who thought about no one but himself," he continues. Taehyung nods with a small smile.
"But... how did you get together then?" Jimin questions.
"Kind of a complicated story, but I guess we have enough time," the male answers. "To make it short, I used Taehyung's father's... 'business' to get laid, because I was that naïve. That's when we had sex the first time and-"
"Too much detail," Jimin cuts in with a grimace.
"Right. That's when I started annoying Taehyung for good... t-teasing him and using him without seeing how he was holding up. He wasn't healthy and clearly not happy, but I was too caught up in myself to notice..." Jungkook sighs. It's clear in his voice that he hates himself for doing stuff like that, taking advantage of Taehyung when he was in that position.
"But when I saw you and found out Taehyung was your dad, I got so incredibly curious and I had this feeling... this need to help you out, both of you," he expresses, slightly frowning to himself, "I don't know why, but I started visiting Taehyung, not just because we had a project together, but because he was suddenly a completely new person."
He looks at Taehyung, quickly kissing his cheek before continuing.
"So, when the day came that you were taken away. I would almost say it was my fault that Taehyung passed out... that's not the point though, the point is that suddenly, Taehyung was all alone and he-..." the raven gulps. Just the memory of how Taehyung hurt himself pains him deep inside his heart.
"He got emotionally unstable and he... he tried to kill himself, multiple times..."
Jimin's mouth falls open. He looks at Taehyung who is looking down at his lap, clearly uncomfortable about this subject.
"Is... is that true? W-Was it because of me?" he timidly asks. Taehyung looks up with a small smile, grabbing Jimin's hand.
"When you were taken away from me Jimin, my whole world collapsed. You were my only reason to live so when... when you weren't there, I just couldn't live with myself. It made me do stupid things I now regret, but I was young and stupid... I never thought I would get you back..." Taehyung calmly says. Jimin feels the tears sting in his eyes. How can his father have been in so much distress?
"Luckily, Jungkook was there to save me... h-he made me feel loved again and spend time with me. More than that, he got you back. He got my little angel back," he says and ruffles Jimin's hair, making the younger giggle.
Taehyung looks back at Jungkook with a fond gaze.
"I was so thankful, there was nothing more important to me than that. Jungkook helped me get away from my father. He did so much, so of course, I will always be in debt to him," he points out to the younger.
"You have done more than enough," Jungkook comments. They give each other a small peck before turning back to Jimin.
He's still on the edge of crying, not knowing how to deal with all this information. He has waited so long for this story, and now that he knows it... he doesn't know how to react.
"So Jimin, remember that no matter what, we'll always love you and we'll do everything to make you happy. Even if it can seem like we're going against you at times," Jungkook chuckles.
Their son sniffs and is on his feet in a second. He jumps onto the sofa in between them, pulling them together in a bone-crushing hug. The two elders smile and happily return the hug.
They are a family with a lot of struggles and a lot of smaller arguments, but there's no filter for the love between them.
Mark your words. Family is always number one.
