Chapter Thirty-Five

* * * * *

"Oh my God! Is she your daughter?"

"Congratulations on your marriage!"

"Can we get a few pictures with you guys?"

"Marinette! Adrien! What is her name?"

"At least a quarter of Paris believes that your marriage is because Marinette pregnant with Adrien's child! What do you have to say about the matter?"

"Is the little girl a result of a fling?"

Adrien, Emma and I were shielded by bodyguards as we made our way to the limousine that was waiting for us. Gabriel made sure that none of the paparazzi could get too close to the venue, so they were across the street and on the sidewalks being held back by bodyguards and security.

Soon we were seated in the limo and on our way to the reception area.

Emma was sitting beside me as Adrien sat across from us. She was currently snacking on a cupcake with a weird look on her face.

"Is something on your mind, Emma?" I asked her, sipping on a glass of water.

"What's a fling?" She asked, tilting her head to the side and glancing between me and Adrien.

My breath hitched and at the same time Adrien choked on the champagne he was drinking.

"A-A what, Em?" Adrien asked to make sure he heard right.

"A fling. I heard someone say it when we were leaving the church," She stated, taking a huge bite of the cupcake she held.

"W-we'll tell you when you get older," I tried to divert from the conversation. I mean, how do you explain what a fling is to a five year old? "Did you enjoy the wedding?"

"It was a teeny bit boring," She muttered shyly.

"I thought so too," Adrien piped in. "My favourite part was when I got to kiss Marinette and when she walked down the aisle."

Emma giggled loudly as I glanced at Adrien subtly only to see him already staring at me. "Mine too!" She exclaimed.

For almost the entire ride, I was dying of embarrassment as Adrien and Emma chatted about how awesome I looked, how pretty my hair was, and how long my vail was.

"You guys can stop now," I ordered slightly, patting my hot cheeks.

"Your face is red," Emma commented, tilting her head to the side cutely.

"She's blushing," Adrien teased, pinching my cheeks, only for me to swat his hands away from my face.

They both teased me a bit more before the limo came to a stop. We heard faint shouting outside the car causing me and Adrien to share a knowing look.

"How did they even get here before us?" Adrien growled.

"The paparazzi have surrounded the vehicle. We are going to try to get them away from the vehicle so you can head inside," The driver's voice came out of a speaker on the door. Adrien pressed a button before replying.

"What's going on?" Emma asked, finally finishing the cupcake she had been eating.

"Some people are blocking the door so we have to wait until the security asks them to move," I told her, squinting my eyes to see outside the tinted windows.

My eyes widened when I saw the large amount of reporters outside.

"Couldn't they like take a day off?" I rolled my eyes with a huff.

We sat there for about fifteen minutes before we were informed that the paparazzi was pushed back far enough so that we could head into the building.

Adrien then quickly hurried me and Emma into the building before going to talk to someone.

After waiting for him, we finally headed to where the reception was being kept. I originally wanted the wedding reception to be somewhere like at a beach, but the wedding planner said that a place like that would make it easier for the press to get in and ruin everything. So Gabriel chose one of the largest and most famous hotels in France to hold the wedding reception and the cocktail hour.

Now I know that no matter where we went, the press would still ruin things. That's the downfall of being even remotely famous.

As we were lead to the reception area, I heard faint music and chatter. Soon the chatter stopped as we were about to enter.

"Introducing Mr and Mrs Agreste!" The DJ, who was unsurprisingly Nino, announced causing my heart to almost leap out of my chest.

It would take a lot of time to get use to that name.

Adrien's eyes met mine as we both held Emma's hands and walked in.

Gabriel had hired special photographers to take pictures of us and the wedding —mainly us— so I wasn't really shocked when I saw people taking pictures in the corner of the room.

(A/N: Okay, so we're gonna use our IMAGINATION here. We are going to imagine that the tables are waaaayyy more spaced out and that the ceiling is higher. Then we are going to imagine pretty blue lights illuminating the room to make it look prettier. I don't know why I can't find better pictures for these things, smh. Onto the story🤗.)

Emma scurried over to Matilda and the others unwillingly when Nino announced that we were going to do our wedding dance or whatever. I didn't understand why we had to do a dance.

As if on instinct, Adrien's arms automatically slipped around my waist and mine wrapped around his neck after the music came on.

"Have I ever told you how beautiful you look?" Adrien whispered, his lips brushing mine slightly.

"A million times today," I rolled my eyes.

He chuckled lowly as we swayed together. "Well that clearly isn't enough."

I shook my head slightly, resisting the urge to roll my eyes at him. Instead, I pulled his head down to mine while he did the rest by attaching our lips.

I let out a sigh of content as his lips moved against mine and he pulled me closer.

For the rest of the dance, we just stayed there in each other's embrace.

* * *

"When are they bringing out the food?" I complained to Adrien as we sat down.

"They should be bringing it out now, Princess," He grinned, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

I then remembered something. We didn't adjust the seating arrangements....which meant that my 'parents' and Alya would be sitting at this table with us. I was trying my best to ignore her longing looks.

Our table was the largest of all the other tables because our parents were seated here along with the bridesmaids and groomsmen. We had wanted it that way.

We had arranged for Emma to be seated between us, just because, and she was chattering away.

Though sometimes I didn't understand what she was talking about or why she was talking about it, I just enjoyed seeing her happy and chattery.

A little while after, the waiters started to come out with the food. After everyone was served, we didn't hesitate to dig in.

I didn't eat anything this morning because the nerves were eating me away. Plus, Adrien wasn't there to force me to eat anything.

Gabriel believed in superstitions and stuff like that so he said that the bride and groom shouldn't see each other the day before the wedding. He took Adrien, despite his heavy protests, and got Rose to stay with me for the night.

"Did you eat anything this morning, Princess?" Adrien asked, giving me a knowing look. "I just have a feeling that you didn't."

"Well, I-" I started to muster up some sort of lie but the look he was giving me told me to come clean. "No."

"Should've known," He shook his head then started to call over a waiter.

"I don't need you packing me up with food now," I protested as he asked a waiter to bring out a few more plates.

"Not your choice," He told me.

I was about to say something to Adrien when I felt Emma tap me on my arm. I looked down at her with a smile. "What do you need, Em?"

"Mommy, I wanna pee," She whispered awfully loudly causing me to laugh. She pouted at that.

"Okay, let's go," I said, standing. I leaned down to Adrien's ear then said, "I'm taking Emma to the bathroom."

"Do I need to come?" He asked, getting ready to stand.

Pushing at his shoulders, I shook my head. "No. Why the hell would you need to come?"

He shrugged. "You don't know what could happen."

I smacked him on the head before asking Gabriel where the bathroom was. After he told me, I took Emma's hand and made my way to the bathroom.

The bathroom was a little far from the room. When we got inside, we couldn't hear any music.

After Emma did her business, we cleaned up and left the room.

As we made our way back to the reception area, I felt on edge. I felt as if we were being followed.

"Walk faster, Em," I told the singing child beside me as I picked up my pace. My ears suddenly perked up.

Footsteps.

I heard footsteps.

Running.

People were running.

How much?

I didn't know.

I was wearing extremely high heels with a long ass dress. This definitely won't do.

"Emma, run," I told her lowly. I couldn't even kick off my heels because they were buckled on.

I was glad that Emma didn't hesitate or ask any questions because she just took off running with her tiny hands trying to hold up her dress. Smart girl.

A light gasp passed my lips when two pair of hands gripped the both of my arms, spun me around causing me to twist my right ankle in the process and slammed me into a wall. A scream came out of me as the pain in my ankle increased.

I looked up and saw two people in masks. They were wearing the same masks like the ones in my dream.

My eyes began to sting with tears.

This had Luka written all over it and I was beyond scared.

Come on, Marinette! No more tears, no more crying!

I took a deep breath to calm myself now.

"Let go of me," I hissed at them only to be roughed up. "HELP! SOMEONE!!"

"Shut up," the bigger one snarled, slapping a glove covered hand over my mouth as the other one went through a bag.

"What are we going to do about the little girl?" The thinner one asked, pulling a cloth out of the bag.

"If you hurry the hell up and knock her out, we can get out of here before she calls for help," The bigger one barked. "Knock her out now!"

Wasn't this place supposed to be heavily guarded? What the hell?!

The other one started lifting a cloth to my face and I knew exactly what they were trying to do.

I held my breath right before he covered my mouth and my nose with the chloroform filled fabric. I moved my chest up and down in a fast motion before slowing down my movements and closing my eyes slowly.

'Will they fall for it?' I thought worriedly.

I felt the bigger one throw me over his shoulder when the man removed the cloth and started to run.

'they fell for it!'

I watched through squinted eyes as the other one ran behind him while continuously looking at me and behind him.

"Shit," The one that held me muttered as he came to a stop. The one behind stopped as well with his eyes wide.

"Put her down," A new voice joined in.

Adrien.

The man made no move to let me down.

"Marinette," Adrien called out.

"Yes," I replied and the one that stood at the back looked at me in shock.

I heard my husband let out a sigh of relief. "Put her down or I shoot."

Shoot?

"We have strict orders," The bigger one spoke, not phased by Adrien.

A gunshot sounded and the guy at the back fell with a strangled scream. He looked like he got shot in the leg.

"Adrien," Another voice met my ears. This sounded like Nino. "Calm down."

"Hell no," Adrien sneered. "I am getting quite impatient. Last chance. Put her down."

"Just listen, dude!" The one on the floor yelled. I could clearly see the pain and fear in his eyes.

"Boss'll kill us," The one holding me spoke. This position was getting more uncomfortable by the minute.

"He won't get a chance if you don't put her down right now," Adrien sounded awfully angry.

"Listen to him," The other one whimpered out, clutching his leg. That looked like it hurt....

The one holding me let out a sigh before putting me down. I winced and almost tumbled over, if it wasn't for Adrien who caught me, because of the surprising increase of pain in my twisted ankle.

Adrien and Nino weren't the only ones here from what I was now seeing. There were at least a dozen armed security guards standing behind them.

I frowned. Where were they when these guys broke in?

"Arrest them and take them to my father. He'll know what to do," Adrien ordered the men, scooping me up in his arms despite my complaints. I then felt him tuck the gun in the waistband of his pants. "Wedding over, Nino. Go tell everyone to go home."

"Okay, dude," Nino said, adjusting his glasses on his face. "Call me."

"Where are we going?" I asked the silent blond as he headed to an elevator.

"To our hotel room for the night," He muttered, seeming to not be in the mood for conversation. I decided not to push the conversation any further.

We waited for practically forever for us to get to our floor.

Soon we were in our room. Adrien walked into the bedroom before placing me on the very large bed. He then began to take off my heels.

I touched his shoulder slightly and he looked up at me. "I-It's okay. I-I can take them off."

He sighed before going back to taking off my heels.

"Are you mad at me?" I asked out of the blue after he took off the other heel.

"I am mad," He said, putting the heels aside and taking my foot in his hands. "I'm just not mad at you."

I winced when he started to put pressure on my ankle. "Then why are you acting like this?"

"Like what?" He asked, lowering my dress.

"Like I killed your dog and fed him to you," I pouted.

I took in the look on Adrien's face and realized that he was trying not to laugh.

"It's just....I was scared, yeah?" He sighed, taking a seat beside me on the bed. "When Emma came running in crying and saying that you told her to run and you screamed, I was scared and pissed. First thing I did was run out of the room then grabbed my gun."

"Wait," I cut him off. "Where did you get a gun?"

"I've had it for years. All my guns are licensed. I have about seven — give or take," He explained to me.

"The more you know," I muttered to myself.

"I didn't mean to shoot the guy," Adrien said suddenly, catching my attention once more. "They just pissed me off. They tried to take you away, on your wedding day? With a party in full swing? Could they get any dumber?"

"They didn't even realise that I held my breath so that I wouldn't inhale the chloroform," I told him, rolling my eyes.

"At least I know you listen to me when I talk," Adrien grinned, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear and cupping my cheeks. "I'm just glad you're okay."

"I wonder if Emma's okay," I told him, resting my head on his shoulder.

"They should still be here," Adrien responded, getting up. "I'll go get Emma and someone to look at your ankle. You think you can move from here to the bathroom on your own?"

I nodded. "I need help to get out of this dress though," I muttered lowly, dropping my gaze from his. He was definitely smirking.

"I can help," Adrien teased.

"Hurry it up then," I rolled my eyes, trying to stand.

Luka tried to ruin today, but....maybe it didn't work.

* * * * *

Oof, it took me so long to write this. Word Count: 2672.

I think that I might stop writing after I finish this book, apparently writing "won't get me anywhere in life and it's waste of time". Maybe I'll just stop...

I'm going to try to get back on schedule with the updates. A lot of things are going on here on my end right now and they are not good at all. I really hope they get better soon.

How was today's chapter?

What are your thoughts?
