Chapter Twenty-Four

After Adrien parked his car, a security guard came to escort us into the building. Now that it was day time, I could see the building better than how I saw it last night.

It was way bigger than the last two buildings. Those buildings would now be used as branches, based on what my father had told me.

The security guard said nothing as he led both me and Adrien to the elevator and up to what I assumed was Gabriel's new office. I had expected his office, along with my parents' to be on the extreme top floor, but it was two floors down. I wonder what was on the top floor....

He opened the door, telling us that this was our destination, before walking away. Adrien allowed me to step inside first before following closely behind.

Inside stood Gabriel Agreste, along with both of my parents. They seemed to be discussing something quite important because they weren't aware that Adrien and I had arrived.

Adrien cleared his throat, catching their attention.

My mother grinned, "You two got here fast."

We hummed in response.

"Come, have a seat," My father said, moving towards the set of sofas in a corner of the room. "We have much to discuss."

I sighed, knowing exactly what they wanted to talk about. Soon we were all seated on the sofas, Adrien and I sat side by side, as did my mother and father and Gabriel sat in the single arm chair.

"First, what the hell happened last night?" Gabriel questioned, his eyes narrowed. "We weren't even half way through the event when someone rushed to tell my son was assaulting someone!"

"Calm down, Gabriel, I am sure they have a good explanation for what went on," My mother intervened, moving her gaze over to me and Adrien.

I nudged Adrien with my leg slightly and he got the memo before starting to explain what took place.

"B-but isn't Nathaniel your friend since high school, Marinette? Why would he do something like that?" Mom asked, shock written on her face.

"That's what I thought, but, apparently Nathaniel likes me. For some reason, he hates Adrien and doesn't like the idea of me dating him. I don't know why he did what he did though," I explained in a low voice, not really wanting to talk about this.

"Well it doesn't matter, because we're pressing charges," My father said, anger pouring out of him. It has been a while since I have seen my father like this. The last time I saw him truly angry was a few years ago when that incident happened. "He could have killed you if Adrien did not show up and he is not going to get away with this."

"Exactly, we'll deal with those details later though," Gabriel cut in, adjusting his glasses on his face. "I'll show you both around the building before I take you to where you will be working. After that we will return here to discuss more wedding arrangements."

Both Adrien and I nodded before getting up and following him out of the room. 

Gabriel brought us to the extreme bottom floor. He showed us that underground parking was now available. The reception area was much bigger than the ones in the other two buildings.

We now had extra floors for runway shows. We never had runway shows in the company building before so this was shocking. The cafeteria area took up an entire floor. He showed us where to find the new machines, new fabrics and all those stuff. He also showed where the models worked. We even had several areas dedicated to only photography. We were shown meeting rooms and so much more.

This building was huge and it was a definite upgrade from the other two. I was dreading to see my office though.

"I'm going to show you both to your office now," Gabriel spoke as we stepped into the elevator. He pressed the button for the extreme top floor and I got confused. Our offices were on the top floor? That was definitely shocking.

When we got to the top floor, the elevator dinged and the doors opened. We stepped out and I scanned the area with curiosity. There was a waiting areas along with secretary area and bathrooms, then there was only one door.

'Maybe there were multiple doors with other offices behind that door...?' I thought. Gabriel walked towards the door and beckoned for us to follow him. He placed his hand on the doorknob, turned it and pushed it open. My  jaw dropped.

The office was huge! There was a large desk at one corner, and another of equal size at another. The office gave a view of the city down below and it was absolutely breathtaking.

Gabriel cleared his throat getting ready to speak. "This is your office. Since both of you design, I had the office built to accommodate both of you. This is one of the largest rooms in the  building, it even comes equipped with its own bathroom and snack room."

"Why is it on the top floor though?" I inquired. "The top floor is for the head of the company."

"Well, you two are the heirs to this company and both of your parents and I will soon retire, so it is time for both of you to take up your responsibilities. You will now be accompanying us to important meetings and you will start going abroad and to other runway shows to represent the company. You will also start inputting ideas that you think will be best for the company. You both will begin to learn how to manage the company without us."

Both Adrien and I nodded, a heavy weight now laid on our shoulders. We both know that the day we officially take over the company is coming. I don't know about Adrien, but I don't think I'm ready as yet.

Gabriel then walked over to one of the three doors in the room and pulled it open. "This is a storage room for fabrics, machines, sketch pads, et cetera. This will be restocked by the staff every month." Then went to another door. "This is the small kitchen that will be stocked with snacks, coffee, tea, whatever you like." Then he went over to the last door. "This is your bathroom. I hope you all find everything to your liking. I will be back with your parents, Marinette, in a few minutes to have a discussion about the wedding as well as the rumors going on about last night."

Okay, I definitely did not want to hear what story our crazy made up about last night.

Before I could say anything, Gabriel was already out the door.

I turned to Adrien only to see him already looking at me. 

"So," He started, "Which section do you want?"

I held the steaming cup of tea to my lips as I watched Gabriel and my parents take a set in front me and Adrien.

After Gabriel left, we decided where we chose to work and we worked out rules since were sharing an office. I had no problem sharing an office with Adrien, surprisingly. I didn't hate him like I did before and the office big enough for the both of us, so I wouldn't throw fit.

A little while ago, Adrien made a cup of coffee for himself and made a cup for me, then our parents walked in, Gabriel holding a laptop.

Now the older Agreste was trying to bring up a post.

"Here it is," He said after some time. He turned the laptop around and we leaned to read the words on the screen.

UPDATE ON ADRIEN AGRESTE AND MARINETTE DUPAIN-CHENG (SOON TO BE AGRESTE)

Last night was the Gala that celebrated the joining of  Agreste Modeling and More and Dupain-Cheng's Fashion. Now the company  is called Miraculous Fashion and Modeling Incorporation. Last Night is definitely something to talk about! The head of Inside Paris was invited, so we got to see and hear everything that went on inside LEGALLY.

Before last night, we had been notice Adrien's and Marinette's closeness and it turns out they were dating all along. Last night Gabriel Agreste announced Marinette and Adrien's engagement! We are indeed very, very happy for the young couple.

Anyways, that was not the only thing that went down last night. We know it's a gala, so obviously there was dancing. Marinette and Adrien got up and started to dance for a while before the were approached by Nathaniel Kurtzberg.

Now, we have seen Nathaniel, on several occasions, with Marinette and so we just labelled them as close friends. Nathaniel interrupted  the couple's dance and started talking to Marinette. There was definitely tension between Nathaniel and Adrien. Said blond looked just about ready to murder Nathaniel. After some time, Marinette left the room with Nathaniel and Adrien went back to sit at their table.

Marinette had been gone for a slightly long time before Adrien got up, looking all worried, and left the room. He was also gone for am awful long time. Soon after a frantic security guard ran into the room and whispered something into Gabriel's ears, soon all the security guards and bodyguards ran out of the room. We followed along with the other guests to see what was going on.

What we saw was definitely juicy! Adrien was giving Nathaniel a definite beating, and we saw Marinette in a corner crying. What could this mean?

It took three security guards to pull Adrien off of the barely conscious Nathaniel. The blond then proceeded to harshly shrug off the guards to head over to Marinette. When he got to her, he tried to get her to stand only for her to go limp in his arms. He picked her up bridal style and quickly left the building, not sparing anyone a glance.

Well,  we were well fed with drama last night, but what the hell did all of that mean? 

We have some theories:

1. Nathaniel is Marinette's actual  fiance, but she ran off and got engaged to Adrien to please the media, so Nathaniel got angry and asked her to talk. While they were talking, Marinette decided to end their relationship because she actually fell for Adrien. Nathaniel got upset, hit her, Adrien saw it, and the fight broke out.

2. Marinette is actually forced into a abusive relationship with Adrien and Nathaniel was trying to help her get away. Adrien caught on and went to find them. He beat Nathaniel and seeing it  Marinette was so overwhelmed that she fainted.

3. Marinette is willingly engaged to Adrien and Nathaniel is that one friend that fell for her and so he is upset that she is with Adrien. So last night he decided he wanted to talk to her in private and Adrien allowed it. While Marinette and Nathaniel were talking alone, Nathaniel confessed his feelings to her and she rejected him resulting in him lashing out on her. Adrien happened to arrive at the right time before he did any damage and he damaged the redhead instead.

We are not entirely sure of any of these. They are just theories.

I was silent when I finished reading, Adrien was also silent as he continued to look at the screen.

"Based on what you two informed us of, we are going to say the closest theory is number three," My father broke the silence, folding his arms over his chest.

"We don't want to dwell on this situation for much longer, it is already decided that we will press charges. I am also sure that Nathaniel will try to press charges against Adrien for harassment, so be prepared for that," Gabriel spoke with a sigh. "Let us move on to discussing the wedding."

Adrien and I nodded.

"Marinette, I will be making your wedding dress," He said, a grin brightening up his face. It was actually the first genuine smile I have ever seen on Gabriel's face. "You will meet with me later in the week so I can take your measurements. Adrien, I am sure you know I will also be doing your suit."

"You both will meet with the wedding planner next week to do the cake, food and venue along with some final planning. We will be dealing with the guest list," My mother jumped in with a smile.

"Work officially resumes tomorrow at eight," My father finished, standing along with my mother and Gabriel. "You can leave now, make sure to be here tomorrow."

My parents left and Gabriel remained behind to give me and Adrien two keys each telling us that they were for the office and we shouldn't lose them.

Soon we were once again seated in Adrien's car.

"Well that was eventful," I commented, rolling my eyes. "Adrien?"

He hummed, turning his head from the road to look at me for a second. "Yes, princess?"

"Can we go visit Emma and the girls?" I asked, gazing down at my lap. "I don't wanna go home just yet."

"Sure," He replied, a smile on his lips.

A small smile even made its way to my face. I wanted to spend some time with the girls and I also wanted to work up the courage to ask Adrien if he could spend the night again.

There weren't much Adrienette moments in this one, but I promise that there will be much more in the next chapter *insert smirkey face*.
