Chapter Fourteen
* * * * *
"Girl, instagram is blowing up," Alya said scrolling through her social media phone. It was now 8:30, I got home like three hours ago and I had a mental breakdown beating myself up for kissing Adrien and liking it.
Now, I was on a video call with Alya. She was telling me about her meetings in another country.
"Blowing up with what?" I asked, going through my closet for something simple to go shopping.
"You didn't tell me that you and Adrien got heated in the park earlier today," She glanced up from her phone and at me.
I blushed as the memories came back to me yet again. "It was a photoshoot."
"That required you two kissing?" She rose a brow at me. "Very believable."
"But it's true!" I exclaimed, pulling out a grey romper. "Should I wear this?" Alya shook her head and I put it back. "The photographer was hellbent on seeing us kiss. A stylist started to second guess our 'relationship', because we were so hesitant to do a measly action like kissing."
"You should've told them where to shove their opinions that you didn't ask for," She commented, making a vomiting face when I pulled out sweatpants. "Girl, you are not wearing that to go shopping! Are you sure you are a designer? Wear your black leggings with that oversized grey sweater."
"I couldn't tell them that. My parents would kill me!" I sent her a glare. "That was the outfit I chose at first and you said no!"
"It was?" She moved her attention back to her phone. "Anyways, did you like it?"
"Like what?"
She rolled her eyes. "The kiss, stupid. It was the first sober kiss you guys had, so I want to know how you feel."
I let out a groan. "Why am I so confused, Alya?"
"What do you mean, hun?"
"I wasn't supposed to like that kiss, so why did I?" I asked, pulling out the clothes I was planning to wear.
Alya pondered on my question for a bit before she started to grin widely. I was seriously creeped out now. "Mari?"
"Hmm?"
"What if you're starting to like him?"
I think I heard wrong. "I'm sorry, what?"
"What if you're actually starting to like Adrien?" She repeated and I almost toppled over.
"Have you been drinking, Alya? You're not making any sense. I won't ever develop feelings for Adrien. I may like a kiss or two, but that doesn't mean I'll fall head over heels for him," I told her, picking up my phone and walking out of the walk-in closet.
"Only time will tell, Mari," She said, looking back at her social media phone. "Another meeting already?"
"Sounds like you're quite busy over there," I commented, stripping down. Alya and I have been best friends for years on end, so I have no problem with her seeing me naked and she's just the same with me.
"Too busy," She rolled her eyes. "I can't even have a four hour call with my best friend."
I smiled. "Go get ready for your meeting. We'll talk later."
"Love you, Mari."
"I love you too, Alya."
With that, she hung up, leaving me to get ready for "night shopping".
I pulled on the leggings and threw on the sweater before putting my hair in two pigtails. I remember always wearing pigtails in high school. My hair was much shorter then, though.
After pulling on my shoes, I made my way down the stairs and, as if on cue, the doorbell rang. I glanced at my phone at saw that it was exactly nine o'clock.
Right on time.
I picked up my purse and opened the door. There Adrien stood, his hand in his pocket as he scrolled through his phone. I bet he was scrolling through Instagram. He moved his eyes from the screen of his phone and to my face. A smile rose to his lips as he took in my outfit, as always.
Being around Adrien this soon after that kiss was too dangerous. All I could focus on were his lips and that definitely wasn't good.
"Ready to go?" He asked, tucking his phone away in the pocket of his dark blue jeans.
I dragged my eyes from his lips to meet his and gave him a nod. I locked up and followed him to his car where I slid into the passengers side.
He got in and started the car before driving off.
Tonight will definitely be interesting.

The lady piled several dresses into Adrien's waiting arms before leaving, as was requested.
We have been to six different stores so far, this was the seventh and hopefully the last. Every store we went into so far was filled with fans. This time, it wasn't Adrien's fans but mine. The went on and on about it being an honour for having a fashion icon in their store and, to be honest, I was flattered. Adrien didn't even hesitate to tease me about it.
"So I see a purple, a few reds, a black and some blues. Which one do you wanna try first?" Adrien asked, resting the dresses on a chair.
"The purple," I said, holding out my hand. He handed me the dress and I headed into the changing room. I examined the dress and saw that it had pleats was long enough.
I changed into dress and came out. I turned my exposed back to Adrien and he got the memo and pulled up the zipper.
I looked at myself in the mirror and shook my head. The straps went down my shoulders, not that I mind, and it stopped at my ankles.
"What do you think?" I turned to Adrien, who sat with his cheek pressed to his open palm.
His eyes ran over me and he shook his head. "Not your colour or style."
I nodded. "Agreed. Next dress."
"Colour?"
"The black one," I answered.
He handed me the black dress, zipped down the zip of the dress that I still wore and I returned to the changing room. I hated shopping so much! It took up too much brain power and time.
After putting on the dress, I stepped out of the changing room. "How about this one?"
"It looks nice," Adrien replied eyeing me. I could tell he liked this, cue me rolling my eyes.
This dress was skintight and it had a slit. I liked it a lot, but just not for the Gala. "I like it too, but I don't think I'd wear it to the Gala."
He nodded understandingly. "You're buying anyway, right?"
I smiled. "Duh."
I tried on a few other dresses, three blue and two red ones. I ended up choosing none.
"I'm tired now," I complained. Why was this so complicated? This is why I made my own things for occasions like these.
"Come on, Princess," He said walking over to me. He held out another dress. "This is the last dress."
I groaned and took it from him before heading back into the changing room.
When the dress was on, I stepped out of the changing room and he sipped me up. I went to stand in front of the mirror and was in awe.
The dress was beautiful, not that there weren't any other beautiful dresses that I tried on before. I liked a red, flowy dress that I tried on last, but I didn't want to wear it to the Gala. This dress I definitely want to wear.
It was slightly similar to the first dress I tried on, but it was blue, longer and had a split (that was a bit too high, but tolerable). I loved it.
"What do you think?" I asked Adrien, turning to face him. His mouth was agape as he took in the dress. "Flies, Adrien. Flies."
He closed his mouth and sent me a glare. "Looks like this is the dress."
"Definitely," I stood still, allowing him to pull down the zipper. Surprisingly, his hand landed on my waist. I turned to look at him and once again, my eyes landed on his lips.
I can't believe I'm thinking this, but I really want to kiss him again.
We were close, our lips almost touching.
Oh my GAHD! It's happening!!
I closed my eyes and pressed my lips against his. Our lips moved slowly against each other and my arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer that we already were.
"Sorry to be a bother, but are you finished- Oh my!" The voice of the owner of the store caused me to pull away to the blond quickly. "I- Sorry to disturb, we are closing this store shortly. Please choose your outfit quickly. I'm sorry again."
With that, she took off.
"Well, that was awkward," Adrien chuckled, running his hand through his hair.
"I-I'll go change out of this dress," I said quickly, running back to the changing room and closing the door.
I leaned against the door and placed my hand on my chest where my heart was going crazy.
I sighed. "Be still, my heart."

My phone ringing made me force my eyes open.
I looked at the time and groaned. It was 6 a.m, who on earth could be calling me so early?!
I picked up the phone and frowned when I saw that it was Matilda. I answered it.
"Hello, Matilda. Is something wrong?" I asked. Matilda never called me unless it was urgent.
"I'm sorry for bothering at this ungodly hour, but-"
She stopped speaking and I was becoming anxious. "But what Matilda?"
"Emma is missing."
