Chapter 3 - And So We Meet
Rewritten.
Marinette P.O.V:
Why do I have to get married?
Stupid law.
I sat in the garden, violently turning the page of the book I just borrowed from the castle library.
Today I was supposed be meeting my "fiancé" today but he seems to be late. His father is already here and let me just say, that man is intimidating, I wonder if his son is the same...
"Princess," I heard someone say, making me look up. In front of me stood a maid. "Your parents sent me to tell you that the Prince will be here very soon and you should come to the throne room."
I nodded and she bowed before walking off.
"Stupid Prince," I mumbled standing up from the bench.
I was making my way across the gravel road to head into the castle when I heard a car horn.
I green and black sports car was heading right for me in full speed and I was a deer stuck in headlights.
I panicked and jumped into the fountain, wetting my dress, my hair and my book.
"Oh shit," I heard the driver mutter before getting out of the car.
He walked over to me and helped me get out of the fountain.
I was soaking wet and super angry. Not only because I was dripping with water, but because my book was ruined.
"Oh my God, I am so sorry miss," He said and I finally lifted my head to look at him.
He was drop dead gorgeous. His blond hair was slicked back and he looked at me apologetically with his emerald green eyes. And those lips-
Okay, what?
I shook my head to get rid of those thoughts and returned to the matter at hand.
"You imbecile!" I shrugged his hands off of my shoulder and glared at him. I could see him gulp.
"I-," He started, but I cut him off.
"Do you even know who I am? Who taught you how to drive?!" I exclaimed and he flinched looking around.
"Look, I'm saying I'm sorry and you won't even let me speak! All you're doing is insulting me. The question is, do you know who I am?" He said, glaring at me with the same intensity as I was glaring at him. I almost backed down.
"You know what, I can't even speak you right now," I said before marching into the castle.
What a dick! (I'm sorry mom). He was the one who almost ran over me and he had the nerve to talk to me like that?!
No one has ever spoken to me like that in all my nineteen years of life and I am so upset.
Now I'm going to meet my future husband looking like a wet dog.
As I neared the throne room, I begun to hear my parents speaking to someone.
"Ahh, Prince Adrien, you're finally here," My father greeted.
"I'm sorry I'm late, I got here about five minutes ago, but I got delayed by this woman in front of the castle," A familiar, irritating voice said.
Wait... The guy that almost ran me over was my fiancé?
'Talk about coincidences' My subconscience said.
I pushed open the door to the throne room making everyone turn to see who was entering.
"My God, Marinette! What happened to you?" My mother overexaggerated.
"The Prince happened, that's what!" I exclaimed shooting him a harsh glare which he returned.
"Believe me your highnesses, I apologized and tried to help her, but she told me off and insulted me!" He said to my parents and I gasped.
"Why you little-"
"Marinette!" My father shouted, causing me to bite my tongue. "Have a little respect for the Prince. He is your future husband after all! You two should learn how to get along."
"But father-"
"No buts, Marinette. Now, go change. You might get sick," He said before turning to apologize to the Prince who secretly stuck his tongue out at me.
I gasped and flipped him the bird before marching out of the room, I caught a little smirk on his lips before the door of the throne room closed.
* * * *
I sneezed.
When I woke up, I could barely breathe because of my stuffy nose.
It's all because of that dumb Prince who didn't know how to use his damn brakes.
I let out a groan and rolled out of bed. I headed and took a well deserved.
After my bath I put on one of my favourite outfits and did my makeup.
knock
knock
"Come in," I answered, swiping some lip gloss onto my lips. The door opened and a maid poked her head inside. "What is it?"
"Your parents have requested that you come to breakfast," She said.
"I'll be right down," I gave her a small smile. She quickly shut the door and I heard her footsteps disappear down the hall.
I exited my room and headed to the dining room.
When entered the dining room, I stopped in shock.
"What is he still doing here?" I asked my parents.
"Good morning to you too, Marinette," My father said dully.
"Good morning. Now answer my question," I glared at Adrien, but he just looked at me with amusement dancing in his green eyes and a smirk on his lips.
"He stayed the the night," My mom answered simply.
I huffed and took a seat beside the Prince.
The cooks brought out the food and we all begun to eat.
I chewed angrily while glancing at the Prince who couldn't stop staring at me.
"Stop staring at me!" I whisper-yelled so my parents wouldn't hear.
Adrien leaned closer to me, smirk still on his face, and said, "How can I stop staring? You're too beautiful."
I felt my cheeks heat up and I hung my head.
'I can't believe he said that!' I thought.
"Who said what?" My father asked with his eyebrow raised.
I said that out loud!
"N-Nothing," I stuttered then stuffed my mouth with bacon.
My parents looked at me weirdly before shrugging and going back to their conversation.
For the rest of the meal, I hacked, sneezed and wiped my runny nose several times which made my mom look at me with concern.
"Are you okay, Marinette?" She asked, pressing the back of her hand to my forehead and retracting it almost instantly. "Oh my, you're burning up."
"I think because the incident with the prince yesterday I fell ill," I said, shooting him a not so subtle glare.
"I apologized!" He defended.
"Because of course an apology will prevent me from getting ill," I rolled my eyes.
"Enough," My father intervened. "Since you two can't get along, you're going to have to spend some time with each other."
"We had a talk with Gabriel last night and we came to an agreement. Adrien, Marinette will be staying with you for a month. Your wedding will be in two months and you two need to get along whether you like it or not," My mom said making my jaw drop.
"What? I don't want to stay with this imbecile for a whole month!" I exclaimed, but Adrien remained silent.
"Too bad, you'll be spending the rest of your life with him. Now go pack. You're leaving this evening to head back with Adrien," My father said in a matter of fact tone.
"Ughh!" I stood abruptly and marched up to my room.
This is ludicrous!!

I stood in front of my castle watching the butlers pack my suitcases into Adrien's car.
I really didn't want to get married, but I had to do it for my kingdom and my country.
"Ready?" I heard Adrien ask, breaking me away from my thoughts.
I nodded and walked over to the car. He held the car door open for me and I slipped in.
He circled the car and got in. He started the car and we were on our way.
