Chapter 25 - No

Switch P.O.V up ahead as well as a long chapter to make up for the previous short chapters.

Marinette's P.O.V:
It's Friday morning and I've yet to tell my parents that I'm going on a date with Adrien.

My mom wouldn't have a problem with it.

It's my dad I'm worrying about.

We were currently sitting at the dining table having breakfast.

Occasionally, I'd glance up at them, my mom's eyes met mine and she rose her left brow.

"Is there a problem, Marinette?" Mom asked, breaking the silence and making my father look up.

"W-well y-you s-see-,"

"Spit it out, child!" My father barked.

"Adrien asked me to go on a date with him today and I'm wondering if you'd allow me to go," I said quickly in a squeaky voice.

"Of cour-,"

"No,"

As expected.

"Why can't I go?" I asked and he resumed eating.

"Don't question my authority, Marinette. I said no and that's final,"

This lit the flame for my anger.

"It's not like Adrien's just some random guy, Dad. He's my future husband!"

I had called Adrien my future husband! OMG!

Well, that felt weird when I said it. Too late to turn back now.

Dad placed down his eating utensils and looked up at me, his eyes dark.

"Raise your voice one more time, little girl,"

I shrunk in my seat and kept my mouth shut. He continued to talk.

"I said NO and that's final,"

"Father, that's completely unfair and utterly stupid. We're already about to get married in a couple of days, why can't we go on one measly date?" I asked as I glared at him.

I was walking on thin ice here, I know and it was very very stupid of me.

He rose from his seat and stalked over to me. Mom jumped out of her seat and grabbed his bicep, stopping him in his tracks.

"Tom, just let her go and stop making a big fuss!"

SMACK!

The slap he gave her echoed in the room. I was stuck in my seat with shock.

"WHY THE HELL DID YOU HIT HER?!"

Welp, the shock finally subsided and my mouth betrayed me.

Dad's nostrils flared as he pulled his arm from Mom's grip.

He grabbed my arm harshly and tugged me out of my seat, tipping the chair back and sending it flying to the floor.

"Let go of her, Tom!" Mom exclaimed, her hand resting know the cheek in which he had hit her.

"Mom, it's okay," I tried to give her a small smile, despite the pain I felt where he gripped me.

Dad dragged me out of the dining room and up to my room. He flung me inside and shut the door. I then heard him start barking orders on the other side. I had to press my ear on the door to hear what he was saying.

"She is not supposed to leave this room unless I give you the Okay. The only person to enter this room is me. No one goes in, no one goes out. Understood?"

I assume he was talking to a guard.

"Yes, sir!" The guard replied.

I heard my father's footsteps disappear down the hall.

I let out a sigh as I held in my tears and sat on my bed.

He hit her...
And I sat and did nothing.

My bed soon started to vibrate then I realized that it was my phone ringing.

I took it up and Adrien's picture flashed across the screen. His eyes closed and peaceful smile on his face.

I remember when I took this picture. We were both lying on his bed and he fell asleep. I snapped the photo without him knowing.

Stop thinking and answer the phone, Marinette!

Oh yeah.

I clicked accept then pressed the phone to my ear.

"Hello,"

"Mari,"

I felt myself relax slightly at hearing his voice.

"Adrien,"

"Get ready, I'm coming to get you soon,"

"I'm sorry, Adrien, but my dad's not allowing me to go on the date with you,"

"What?"

"He says I'm not going,"

It was silent on his end for a while.

"Anyways, do you have anything black and red? Like the ladybug print,"

Did he not hear what I just said?

"Adrien, I just said my dad's not letting me go on the date. He even locked me up in my room and left a guard outside,"

"I heard what you said, Marinette. I just chose to ignore it. I'm coming to get you in about thirty minutes. Wear something with the ladybug print. Okay?,"

"O-Okay,"

"Alright. Later, babe,"

He hung up right after.

Babe? He called me babe?

Why did I feel my heart flutter?

I shook my head and stood up. Adrien said to get ready.

I walked over to my walk in closet and started looking for an outfit.

Little did Adrien know that majority of my closet was ladybug print.

Why?

I don't know.

In the end, I picked out a red jacket with black spots, a black T-shirt with a ladybug in the middle as well as the words Spots On and Black ripped jeans. Obviously, I also picked out black sneakers.

( A/N: I had no pictures, I hope that description was okay!)

I then headed to the bathroom.

Adrien's P.O.V:
Sitting in the car with my father was not as awkward as I expected to be as we drove to the Dupain-Cheng Kingdom.

My mind wondered back to the conversation we had earlier.

"Is there a problem, Adrien?" Father asked as I entered his study.

Yes he was back home.

"I want to take the Princess out on a date today," I stated.

"And?" He rose his eyebrow.

"I'm afraid her father does not want her to go on a date with me,"

He sighed and rose from his seat.

"Go get ready, Adrien. We're going to the Dupain-Cheng Kingdom so I can talk some sense into this stupid king,"

I smiled triumphantly and nodded as I exited the study.

"We're here, your majesties," The driver informed us and my father nodded.

The driver got out and opened the door for us.

We got out and headed inside. We went straight to the throne room.

We entered and saw King Tom and Queen Sabine. They looked surprised to see us.

"King Gabriel. Prince Adrien. What makes you grace us with your presence?" Queen Sabine greeted with a fake smile. I took note of a bruise growing on her cheek.

Why's her cheek bruised?

My father spoke up.

"Sorry if I sound rude, Sabine, but I'm not here to see you. I'm here to speak to your husband about something,"

She nodded and held down her head when Tom glanced at her.

"What is it you need to speak to me about?" Tom asked as he glared at my father.

Does this guy have a death wish?

I glanced at my father only to see him smiling calmly.

"Why don't you want your daughter to go on a simple date with my son? They're literally getting married in a few days. What's wrong with a date?"

Tom stuttered and buffered under the gaze of my father. Looking at my father, you could tell he was getting bored.

He held up his hand and Tom stopped spewing nonsense.

"It's obvious you don't have a valid -- sensible -- reason. My son will go on that date with your daughter today, whether you like it or not," My father said sternly. Tom sat in silence before he slowly nodded.

"Good. Now we adults will sit and have a chat while our children go out," My father grinned. He likes for things to go his way and I'm not gonna lie, so do I.

He nodded to me and I walked out of the throne room.

I then realized, I don't know where Marinette's room is.

A maid walked by and I grabbed her arm.

"Erm.... sorry, but do you know where the Princess' room is?" I asked with a smile and she blushed. She nodded rapidly.

"F-follow me. I'll show y-you," She stuttered, still blushing.

She took me up some stairs then pointed at a door in which a guard was standing in front of.

"Thank you," I shot her a smile. She nodded, blushed and quickly ran off.

I shook my head and headed to the door.

The guard stood at alert when he saw me infront of him.

"I'd like to see the Princess,"

"No can do, Sir. I have strict orders from the King saying No one goes in, no one gets out," The guard said. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

"Do you know who I am?" I asked.

"No, sir, but it doesn't matter who you are. I have strict orders to stop anyone who tries to get in," He said as he got into a fighting stance.

I smirked and rolled up the sleeves of my black button down.

"Been a while since I got some action," I said as he charged at me.

Marinette's P.O.V:
Swiping some red lipstick on my lips, I smiled at my reflection.

I heard talking coming from outside the door and I assumed it was the guard speaking to one of his colleagues.

I didn't pay it any mind until I heard a loud thud.

What the hell was going on out there?

I stared at the door as the door knob wiggled before it eventually opened revealing Adrien.

He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist before leaning down to peck me on my lips.

"You were out there talking to the guard?" I asked Adrien as I rose an eyebrow.

"Yup," He shot me a grin.

"How'd you convince him to let you in?"

"Well, I didn't exactly convince him to let me in... " He trailed off as he unwrapped his arms from around my waist and scratched behind his neck sheepishly.

"What did you do, Adrien?" I narrowed my eyes at him. He refused to say anything and to let me pass and look outside.

I sidestepped him and ran to the door. Arriving at the door, I saw a guard lying on the floor, not moving. I recognized him as Kim, based on what they call him around the castle.

"Adrien! What did you do?" I exclaimed and looked at him pointedly.

"I didn't do anything!"

"Then why is a guard lying here unconscious?"

"He challenged me! I only asked to see you. He started the fight. I merely knocked him out. He'll wake up soon!" He tried to defend himself and I glared at him.

"You are going to carry him to the guard quarters. And you will write a note, apologising for knocking him out. Understood?"

"But, Marinette!"

"I said, am I understood?"

"Yes," He mumbled before picking Kim up and throwing him over his shoulder with ease.

I started leading him to the guard headquarters.

"Did I mention how hot you look, Mari?"

"Your flattery won't work, Agreste," I said despite the blush that rose to my cheeks. Thank God he couldn't see my face.

Adrien continued to sulk and groan behind me.

****

Adrien managed to convince my father to lend him a car. The car was pitch black and the windows were tinted.

We were now driving to this unknown place Adrien refused to tell me about.

We abruptly came to a stop.

"You telling me where we're going now?" I asked.

"Just look out the window,"

I rolled my eyes, but did so none the less.

It was a fair.

"Why'd you take me to a fair when you know if we walked in we'd be trampled?" I asked as I stared at the dumb, green eyed Prince in front of me.

He dug in his pocket and took out two masks. One black and one ladybug print.

Now I get why he told me to wear something in ladybug print.

"Won't we look stupid being the only people there in masks?" I questioned.

"It's the annual Masquerade Fair, Mari. It only comes once every year. Everyone there will be wearing masks," Adrien smiled at me. He started the car and drove into the parking lot and parked the car.

"When we go in, you'll call me Chat Noir and I'll call you Ladybug,"

"Why Chat Noir?"

He pointed the cat ears on his head.

How come I didn't see those?

He then placed bug antenna on my head.

I guess he's a not so dumb Prince.

"Okay. Let's go!" I said excitedly. I had only been to a fair once. And I was only seven years old.

Adrien chuckled, put on his mask and hopped out of the car. I mimicked his actions.

Adrien paid and we entered.

This was gonna be fun!

****

And it was fun!

Adrien and I went on all the rides. And we ate cotton candy, corn dogs and hotdogs.

Adrien won me three of stuffed animals and we played a bunch of games.

It was awesome!

Adrien was currently walking me to my room.

We stopped in front of my door and turned to each other.

"So, I won't be seeing you till you walk down that aisle," Adrien stated as he scratched the back of his neck.

"Yeah...." I trailed off.

Adrien leaned down and captured my lips. I smiled and dropped the stuffed animals out of my arms and wrapped my arms around his neck as I kissed him back.

Adrien's lips trailed from mine and to my neck. He planted a small kiss there before standing tall again.

He picked up the stuffed animals and gave them back to me. I muttered a thank you.

"So, I'll see you," He said and I nodded.

"Yeah, I'll see you,"

He nodded before he turned down the hall and walked away.

I entered my room and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
