Chapter 24 - Black and something
Marinette's P.O.V:
"Strawberry!"
"Cheesecake!"
"No, strawberry,"
"No, cheesecake,"
Adrien and I argued back and forth. We met up at a bakery, with the wedding planner, and were sitting side by side in the booth. We are supposed to be discussing about our wedding, but we ended up arguing about what cake we want.
I said we should have a strawberry wedding cake, but Adrien wanted cheesecake, like that was every heard of.
Cheesecake for a wedding cake? That's preposterous and totally unheard of!
"Your Majesties, calm down," The Wedding Planner, Ms Martha, intervened, she was sitting across from me and Adrien. Her words went deaf to our ears.
"Cheesecake is horrible. Why would you want that?"
"It's not like strawberry is any better. It tastes disgusting!"
"Take that back! Strawberry tastes awesome. Cheesecake is terrible, like, what the hell is that?"
"Oh please, Strawber-" He was cut off.
"Your Majesties!" Martha exclaimed, her face red.
"Yes?" We answerd in unison.
"Calm down. We can resolve this in a different way," She said, pushing her blonde curls out of her face and behind her ears.
Adrien and I glared briefly at each other before nodding at her.
"So, this bakery is the best in all of France. They have the best tasting goods and this is the place where you will be getting your wedding cake made. It is an honour to them for having two royalties here to try their delicacies," She stated.
"They have a selective amount of cakes and pastries they want you to try. You are going to choose one for your wedding cake, one for your guests and several other pastries. After the tasting we are going to discuss the type of food you want. Then we are going to talk about your theme. Is that okay?" She explained and we both listened intently then nodded.
"Okay. I'm going to head around the back and get them to bring out the samples that they've prepared for you," she said before exiting the booth and headed around the back.
I turned to Adrien, planning to say something, then I felt his lips on mine.
My eyes fluttered close as I responded. He pulled me closer to him and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
The lack of oxygen made us pull away reluctantly.
His lips slowly moved to my neck and I pushed his shoulders.
"No," I said sternly and he pouted.
"Why?" He whined.
"Ms Martha could be back any minute and we are in public,"
The bakery is closed for today and we were the only people in here, well, and the workers and Martha.
"But she won't be back for now,"
"Adrien, no,"
He groaned and rested his head on my shoulder. He then placed a light kiss on my neck and sat up straight.
Immediately after, the doors to the kitchen opened and people filed out with big cake boxes. Adrien and I gaped at them.
"Wow,"
"My father is gonna be so pissed,"
****
"My stomach hurts," I groaned.
"Suck it up. You didn't have to try so much. We already chose the ones we want from the first five tastings, but you kept going,"
"Shut up," I mumbled as I shoved a strawberry macaroon into my mouth.
Martha took a seat across from us and I sat up straight.
"Okay, so you chose your food. So now we're going to talk about the theme for your wedding,"
Adrien slung his arm over my shoulder and I leaned into him.
I remembered the words of my mother.
"The Wedding Planner knows nothing of this being an arranged marriage, so you and Adrien have to make it look like you're madly in love,"
"Won't she tell anyone?" I asked.
Mom shook her head.
"She won't and she can't. She knows the consequences of disobeying higher authority,"
I nodded.
I shook my head, trying to get rid of those thoughts.
"What colour theme do you want for youd wedding?"
"Black and something," Adrien and I replied in unison.
We turned to each other in shock and Martha grinned as she stared at us from across the table.
"You guys are so cute," She cooed and I blushed and used my hair to hide my face.
I could practically feel Adrien's grin.
"I don't think black is a good colour for a wedding," She commented as she took something out of her bag.
"These are some colours you can choose from," She placed it in front of us.
Boy is this going to cause some argument.
*****
In the end, we chose blue and silver.
Adrien sat with me in the bakery as I waited for my chauffeur.
The bell dinged as my chauffeur stepped into the bakery.
"Are you ready, your Highness?" He inquired.
"I'll be right out, William,"
He bowed and left.
"So I'm going now," I shoved my hands into my hoodie pockets.
We were ordered to dress casually and to hide our faces, so both me and Adrien wore hoodies and jeans.
Adrien bent down to my level and closed the distance between as his lips met mine. I responded almost immediately as my fingers ran through his blond hair.
Pulling away because of the lack of oxygen, Adrien smiled sheepishly at me.
"Will you go on a date with me on Friday?"
I almost fainted on the spot when the words passed his lips.
"S-sure," I stuttered. Why am I stuttering?
"Awesome," He grinned.
He then pulled his hoodie over his head and I copied his actions.
We walked out of the bakery, after bidding farewell to the staff, and Adrien walked me to the pitch black Mercedes.
I got in and he smiled before he walked over to his sports car.
He then drove off and William started the car.
"So you and the Prince..." He trailed off and I turned beet red.
"Shut up, Will,"
I could practically feel his smirk.
"Okay, Princess," He said as he drove off.
