Matchmaking

Kicking off Adrienette April with a bang! I absolutely adore all of the shenanigans these two could get into. I'm also a huge fan of the wlw headcanon for Kagami and Chloe and I definitely took advantage of that here. Vote and comment if you've enjoyed! Also formatting this like I did for Marichat May made me nostalgic lol.                                                                                               -Colorado

"What are you doing?" Marinette didn't need to turn around to see the smirk on his face.

"Shhh!"

"And here I thought your stalking days were over." Marinette turned to glare at her boyfriend.

"They are!"

Adrien raised an eyebrow.

"And yet, here you are."

"I'm not stalking! I just spotted them and I've only been here for a few seconds max! I swear!" She protested. Adrien shook his head, grinning.

"Alright, whatever you say."

"Come on, you can't tell me that they wouldn't be cute together!" Marinette protested.

She had been walking through one of Paris' many gardens when she had noticed two of her friends laughing together.

"Chloe and Kagami?" Adrien asked, looking at where they were talking. "I could see it."

"Now who's the stalker?" Marinette teased.

"Hey! At least I wasn't hiding behind a rose bush for who knows how long."

"I told you, it was only for a few seconds." Adrien looked at her and smirked.

"Sure it was, my sapphire."

Marinette blushed at the nickname. Even after dating him for months, she still wasn't used to his easy affection.

"It was!"

"Okay, okay, I believe you." Adrien grinned and held out his hand to her. "Now, why don't we turn this into a date?"

"That reminds me, you never did tell me what you were doing here." Marinette said, taking his hand.

"Photoshoot." Adrien shrugged.

"Really? I don't remember hearing anything about a photoshoot."

"That's because it was pretty sudden. And by pretty sudden I mean Nathalie dragged me out of bed this morning and told me to get dressed because we were heading here."

"Wow, how late were you sleeping in if you had to go to the shoot immediately? It's nearly 15:00." Marinette teased. Adrien pouted.

"I stayed up late last night okay?"

"So did I, and yet I was still up before noon." Adrien narrowed his eyes.

"Oh were you? Who are you and what have you done with Marinette? She would never wake up so early!" He accused.

"Oh hardy har." Marinette rolled her eyes, but a grin was starting to slip.

After he had asked her out, Marinette soon realized that her boyfriend was so much more of a dork than she had ever expected and she loved him even more for it.

"Seriously though, do I need to be worried about you Mare? How bad is your sleep schedule?"

"I could ask you the same thing." She said as they began to walk along the path.

"Well thank goodness that my activities for my father rarely cuts into my sleep schedule. He wants me to perform at my absolute best and you can't do that when you're sleep deprived. If I do need to get up super early, then it'll be on a weekend where I can take a nap afterwards. So my sleep schedule isn't bad at all!"

"So just what exactly were you doing up so late last night?" She teased.

"Binging Sailor Moon." He said sheepishly. Marinette shot him a look.

"I should've guessed."

"What were you doing up?"

"Designing." Marinette lied flawlessly. She hated that she couldn't tell him the truth, but her identity had to remain a secret. Telling Adrien that she had been on patrol last night with Chat Noir would've put all of her measures to waste.

"Ooo! Can I see it once you're done?" He asked, bouncing up and down like a kid.

He was so cute sometimes.

"Of course you can, my prince."

"T-thanks." He said, a blush on his cheeks.

Marinette smirked, enjoying the sight of him flustered.

"You're welcome." She leaned up on her tip-toes and placed a kiss on his cheek.

"Hey, wait a second, aren't we near that cafe that Alya and Nino took us to that one time?" Adrien asked suddenly.

"You mean the one right after we got back from New York?"

"Yeah! And they ditched us after, like, five minutes?" Marinette sighed.

"They were trying to set us up." She shook her head.

"Well, they were hardly subtle about it. Remember that one time at the wax museum?"

"I thought we agreed to never speak of that again!" Marinette protested. That day had been mortifying, to say the least.

"But sapphire! I think it's fun to hold over your head."

"Oh yeah? Then what about the time they ditched us at the beach?" She smirked. Adrien's face flushed.

"Okay look, I had just realized my feelings for you and then suddenly Alya and Nino are gone and we're alone and you're looking so cute in that swimsuit and, can you really blame me if I was a mess?"

"I still can't believe they did that. They knew I was trying to get over you!"

"Well, it's a good thing you didn't, right?" Adrien squeezed her hand.

"It's a wonderful thing." She squeezed right back.

"Do you remember the rage on their faces when we came to school and announced we were dating?" Adrien laughed.

"Oh my gosh, yes! They were so upset that they didn't properly set us up!"

"I bet we could do a better job at setting someone up than them."

"Oh, we totally could!" Marinette agreed.

"Wait a second, that's it!" Adrien brightened and Marinette could see the light bulb flicker on over his head.

"What? Tell me!"

"What if we set up Chloe and Kagami?"

"Oh my gosh, Adrien. You're a genius!"

"I mean, they've been spending more time together lately because apparently Audrey Bourgeois struck up a deal with the Tsurugi's?" Marinette nodded.

"Yeah, it was all over the fashion magazines."

"So if Kagami and Chloe are spending more time together, then maybe some feelings could develop!"

"I mean, they seem like each other's types." Marinette muttered.

"Strong, independent, kind, blue haired... Kagami definitely fits the bill."

"Chloe's blonde and rich!" Marinette grinned.

"And we've both got mommy issues!"

"Adrien, no." Marinette deadpanned.

"Adrien, yes!"

"You know what? That's it. Go and tell Gorilla that I'm abducting you. We're heading to the bakery where we can watch anime and think up plans to get Kagami and Chloe together.

"Yes mademoiselle!" Adrien saluted. "I'll be right back." He kissed her on the forehead and then headed off to go find Gorilla and Nathalie.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Tell me again why I agreed to do this, Adrikins?" Chloe asked him as they walked to the cafe he, Marinette, Kagami, and Chloe were meeting at.

"Because you love me." Adrien grinned.

"Ugh, you're right, unfortunately." She rolled her eyes.

"So, are you excited?" Adrien asked.

"For what?"

Shall he be subtle or not? Knowing Chloe, she would be able to see right through him.

"Hanging out with all of us."

"I guess." She shrugged, but Adrien could swear there was a bit of pink on her cheeks.

"Now I could be seeing things, but is there a bit of pink on your cheeks, Chlo?"

"W-what? No! You're totally seeing things!"

"You know, there's no problem with crushing on Kagami."

"I am so not crushing on Kagami!"

"Really?" Adrien drawled. "Then why do you bear a resemblance to her fencing uniform right now?" He smirked.

"Because I'm embarrassed!" Chloe crossed her arms. "A crush on Kagami..." She muttered.

"You know, both Marinette and I think that she likes you back."

"Really?" Chloe asked, her face brightening.

"Yep! We both totally ship Chlogami." Chloe groaned.

"You just had to go and make a ship name, didn't you?"

"But of course! I'm not about to put my fanboy reputation at risk."

"You are such a big dork." She shook her head.

"And aren't you glad you're friends with me?" Adrien batted his eyebrows.

"Eh, that's debatable."

"Chloe!" Adrien let out a scandalized gasp. "How dare you make such accusations? Do our years together mean nothing to you?"

"You're way too over dramatic, Adrikins. How does Marinette manage to put up with you?"

At the mention of his girlfriend, a dopey grin appeared on his face.

"She's amazing, isn't she?"

"I suppose so. She was the one who convinced me to go to therapy after all.I'll forever be grateful for that. I still can't believe how mean I was." Chloe shook her head.

"It's okay, Chloe. You've apologized and you're becoming better." Adrien looped his arm around her and hugged her.

"Yeah." She gave him a soft smile.

The road to recovery had been long and hard for her, but Adrien was there every step of the way. Chloe was the sister he never had, and he wanted to support her in bettering herself. Now here they were, hanging with people Adrien thought would never get along with Chloe.

He was so proud of her.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few blocks away, Marinette and Kagami had arrived early to the cafe.

"Thank you again for inviting me, Marinette." Kagami said, taking a seat across from her.

"Of course! We haven't hung out in forever and I thought since you and Chloe get along now, it would be fun to hang out the four of us."

"Yes, it does sound pleasant."

"So, how are things going with Chloe?" Marinette inquired. Kagami was never one for subtlety, after all, and neither was Marinette when it came to her friends' love lives.

"What do you mean?" Kagami asked.

"Oh you know, you two are hanging out a ton because of the merger."

"Yes, it's been nice. She's a lot different than I remember her being."

"Yeah, she has changed a lot." Marinette smiled, recalling the day that Chloe had gotten over her pride and had asked for help.

"She's very straightforward. I appreciate that."

"And I'm sure the fact that she's easy on the eyes helps." Marinette teased.

"I don't have a clue as to what you're insinuating." Kagami claimed, but her cheeks were flushed.

"Oh, I believe you do." Marinette smirked, knowing that Kagami would give in.

"Alright." Kagami let out a sigh and Marinette had to refrain from cheering. "Maybe she is pretty. What has that got to do with anything?"

"The fact that you two totally like each other!" Marinette said excitedly.

"W-what? You really think she likes me?" Kagami asked, her eyes wide.

"Obviously! The blushes, the nervousness, the banter, it's all there!" She was practically jumping in her seat.

It was no wonder Alya and Nino had tried so hard to set her and Adrien up. This feeling of helping your friends be happy with each other was amazing.

"She's nervous around me?" Kagami asked.

"It's a good nervous. Like, the butterflies in your stomach, you know? I mean, you remember how I was around Adrien."

"That's true, you were a bit of a mess."

"It's clear as day that she likes you! You have to ask her out, Kagami."

"Why would she? Like me, I mean." Kagami asked. Marinette's jaw dropped.

"Are you kidding me? Kagami, you're strong, kind, fearless, determined, cute, those are all things Chloe looks for in a partner. You're exactly her type!"

"You really think so?"

"I know so."

"Huh." Kagami sat there, a small disbelieving smile on her face.

"You know, I bet I could set you two up."

"You'd really do that for me?" Kagami asked, her eyes wide.

"Of course! Adrien's totally on board, too." Marinette said. "The three of us could devise an unbeatable plan to set you and Chloe up."

"Hmm," Kagami thought about it for a moment before offering Marinette a small, bashful smile. "I may just have to take you up on that, Marinette. Thank you."

"Heck yes!" Marinette cheered. "Operation: Chlogami is a go."

"Operation: Chlogami?"

Marinette winked.

"It's a secret."

"But-."

"Oh look, they're here. Chloe, Adrien!" Marinette called, waving them over.

Adrien met her eyes and shot her a thumbs up. She grinned and returned the gesture.

It was all coming together now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So, how exactly do we want to do this?" Marinette asked a few days later.

"Hmm, well, can we just lock them in a closet or something?" Adrien asked, looking over her shoulder at the paper titled: Operation: Chlogami.

They were at her place after school working on a 'group project', which technically, wasn't a lie. It was a project that a group was partaking in, it just wasn't for school.

"What?" Marinette turned to look at him.

"It's worked for some couples." Adrien shrugged. "Sometimes all they need is that final push."

"And sometimes that final push can make them clam up and get us farther than our goal."

"True, but this is Chloe and Kagami we're talking about. Both of them are very direct with their feelings. Once they have a crush on someone, they don't bother to hide it."

"You have the point."

"So closet?" Adrien asked, excitedly, his eyes lighting up.

"No! It has to be way more romantic than that. I mean, we know both of them are secretly hopeless romantics."

"Hmm, who do you think is more likely to do the romancing and who is more likely to be romanced?"

"Kagami is definitely more likely to do the romancing." Adrien said automatically. "The two of us have spent multiple breaks during lessons talking about our favorite ways to sweep people off their feet."

"And did you use one of those to ask me out?" Marinette asked teasingly.

"But of course, my sapphire! Who do you think I am?" He leaned down and pecked her on the cheek. "We had spent so much time chasing each other. I knew it had to be special."

"Well, it certainly was. I mean a scavenger hunt to all of the places in Paris that our relationship developed leading to the very same steps I fell in love with you? It was something out of a romance novel." She closed her eyes, savoring the memory.

He looked so nervous, a bouquet of red tipped pink roses in his hand. God, was Marinette happy to have him.

"You deserved it." The affection in his tone made Marinette blush hard.

"W-well, just you wait for our one year anniversary! I'll show you just how much romance you deserve! Spoiler alert: it's a lot!" Marinette shot at him, feeling flustered.

"I'll very much look forward to it."

"Now, back to the topic at hand." Marinette said, her face cooling.

"Trying to set up our two very-obviously-in-love-with-each-other friends."

"Precisely!" Marinette tapped the pencil she was having to his nose and then to hers.

The shocked expression he made melted her heart. He was so cute.

"Both of them are direct people, so the confession itself should be direct." She said.

"No sneaky games for the two of them. They both have enough confidence for us to give them a time and date and for them to go for it." Adrien thought out loud.

"And it has to be something romantic. This will be the first real relationship for both of them. It should be memorable."

"Plus, Kagami would be the one doing the romancing." Adrien said.

Like she was Ladybug and had a lucky charm in her hands, a plan quickly started to form in her mind.

"I recognize that look, you have a plan."

It wasn't a question.

"Call Kagami and Chloe." Marinette started to scribble things down on her paper. "I'm going to have to call in a few favors with Timone."

"Who's Timone?" Adrien asked.

"He does gondola rides down the Seine, I rescued his daughter from an attack once."

"You got close to an akuma attack without powers?" Adrien asked, his eyes wide.

"I was trying to stop Alya." Marinette quickly thought up of an excuse. "Anyway, if everything goes well, Kagami and Chloe will be dating this time next week."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The scene was set. It was a Friday night and the Seine was filled with light. The City of Lights sparkling against the midnight blue sky in its full glory. A private gondola was booked and paid. Now all they needed was the two girls who would, hopefully, become a couple.

"You've got this, Kagami." Marinette told her as they walked to the river. "Adrien and I have set everything up. You and Chloe will go on the gondola ride, then you'll confess while fireworks are set off."

"How did you get-?"

"Called in a few favors, it doesn't matter. What matters is that after Chloe accepts your confession, because she will, you two will get off and get Andre's. After that, there will be a horse and chariot to take you two home the scenic route." Marinette explained.

"Wow. I have no idea how you managed to pull this off, but thank you, Marinette."

"Of course, Kagami. You and Chloe deserve something this special."

"Alright." Kagami took in a deep breath as the river came into view. "I've got this."

"You've got this. Now, go sweep that girl off of her feet."

"Yeah!" She smiled. "Thanks again, Marinette."

"It's my joy. Plus, now I'll be able to brag to Alya how I'm a successful matchmaker and she isn't." She grinned.

"Have fun with that." Kagami said, but her attention was elsewhere.

Marinette couldn't blame her, confessing to your crush was incredibly nerve wracking, even if you suspected they liked you back.

"Wow." Kagami breathed and Marinette followed her line of sight.

There stood Chloe in a yellow and white polka-dotted summer dress. Marinette secretly applauded the designer and made a mental note to ask Chloe where she got it from. Maybe they had it in pink and white too.

"It's time." Marinette said. "You've got this."

"Yeah, I've got this." Kagami exhaled one last time before giving Marinette a nervous smile and heading over to where Chloe was.

Marinette was thankful that Kagami couldn't see her from where they had been standing. Otherwise, it would've been obvious that Marinette hadn't left the riverside. She saw them board the gondola and set off.

"Good luck." She whispered.

A few moments later, another gondola pulled up. This time, one half of the party was already there and ready to go.

Marinette smiled and went to go join him.

"Hey." Adrien greeted her, taking in her lime green dress.

It was a design she had made herself specifically for this occasion. It was simple by her standards. Lime green with thick straps and a sweetheart neckline, plus a skirt that flared out at her mid-thigh, reaching her knees. Add in white flats, headband, and jewelry and Marinette was ready for her date.

"Hey yourself." Marinette took in his black dress pants and collared lime shirt.

"We're matching." He said gleefully.

"Yep! Now, you ready to go and witness our friends getting together?" Marinette asked, sitting down and leaning into him.

"Of course." He slipped his arm around her.

At Chloe's insistence, they had decided to follow the girls. Unknown to Kagami, Adrien had given Chloe the same run down Marinette had given to her. The idea was for both of them to confess at the same time, pulling out the rose Adrien and Marinette had given them prior to the date.

It was a blend of beautiful orange, yellow, and red.

Marinette still didn't know how Adrien had managed to pull that off, but that was okay with her.

"I can't wait." Marinette said, playing with her hands.

"Me neither." Adrien craned his neck, obviously looking for them.

The nice thing about the route that they had chosen was the fact that they wouldn't be seen if they didn't want to be. Sure, Chloe and Kagami could make out their silhouettes, just as they could theirs, but they wouldn't be able to tell it was Marinette and Adrien. To them, it would be another couple on a date. It was perfect for observing on the sidelines.

"Do you see them?" Marinette asked.

"Yep, over there." Adrien pointed to a gondola.

Marinette could make out the shapes of two girls, chatting with each other.

"It looks like it's going well." She mused.

"Yeah, neither of them seem super nervous."

"On the outside, but Kagami was obviously tense about it."

"Same with Chloe, but the fireworks should be going off in a few."

"Good, good." Marinette said, biting her lip.

"This was a perfect idea, Marinette. Don't worry."

"I know, but I just want this to go well for them. It's clear that Kagami loves Chloe and that the feeling is mutual. It's the first time either of them are in love and I just..."

"You're amazing, my sapphire." He said leaning in to kiss her.

"Thank you, my prince."

The two of them shared a sweet kiss.

Marinette smiled as much as she could. She would probably never be able to get used to Adrien's kisses. Every time they kissed her it made her stomach flutter and her heart pound. It was like she was fourteen again and discovering love for the first time.

'Boom!'

They both broke apart as the first firework launched. There would be time for kissing later, now they had to watch their friends confess and get together.

"It's happening!" Marinette hissed as she gripped Adrien's shoulders, watching as Kagami drew the flower out of her coat.

"I know!" He hissed back as Chloe returned the gesture.

The two saw as the girls looked down at the matching flowers, then they exchanged a few words.

Adrien and Marinette remained silent, both of them holding their breath.

Then, Chloe surged forward and kissed Kagami on the lips.

With the background of the fireworks and the cityscape, it looked like something out of a romantic movie.

Marinette felt her heart fill with so many emotions she couldn't name. Pride, joy, relief, they were all there.

Her and Adrien had managed to successfully get Chloe and Kagami together.

And well, if Adrien had to kiss her again to stop her cheers so their cover wouldn't be blown, she certainly wasn't complaining.

It's always nice to start off a book with some good ol' fluff. I hoped you like this one and I'll see you tomorrow for day two of Adrienette April!                                                                                                                                                   -Colorado
