PROMPT: Tyler and Josh are supposed to read a book for their college class, but Josh is too tired to read, so Tyler reads aloud for the both of them.
WORD COUNT: Approximately 460 (sorry it's short)
On most days, upon returning from class with his boyfriend, Josh would get something from the fridge and eat it, while Tyler studied. Then he would watch a movie, and after a while, Tyler would join in. They'd make out, in typical teenage fashion, and eventually go to bed. Josh would spend the next morning rapidly studying, but it always worked out for him. He worked best under pressure.
Now, however, Josh was far too tired for anything. Upon heading home, he headed straight for the bedroom, flopping face-first onto the bed with a sigh. Last night, he'd stayed up late watching YouTube videos with Tyler, and now he was exhausted.
His boyfriend and roommate, Tyler, sat down lightly on the bed. Tyler was naturally a night owl, so he wasn't the least bit tired, but Josh was definitely feeling exhausted.
Josh felt Tyler lightly running his fingers through his fading blue hair, the way Josh always liked it. "Somebody's sleepy."
Frankly, Josh felt like he might fall asleep right then and there. Instead, he just sighed again. "I already know I'm going to wake up late tomorrow. I'm never going to have enough time to do the reading."
"You could do it now instead," Tyler suggested, still playing with Josh's hair with his delicate hands. Tyler was delicate by nature, and that was the first thing that had caught his attention when they'd met.
"Can't." Josh rolled over to look up at Tyler. "I'm so exhausted that my body is shutting down. I no longer have the use of my arms, and I can't hold up the book. I will surely soon perish."
Tyler giggled, which was the second thing that had caught Josh's attention when they'd met. The two of them just stayed where they were for a moment; Josh laying there, eyes now closed, and Tyler playing with his hair.
After a few minutes, Tyler got up, and went into the room. Josh kept his eyes closed, because he couldn't make himself open them. Tyler returned, sat down next to Josh again, and began to read.
"But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and Juliet is the sun! Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, who is already sick and pale with grief that thou her aid art more fair than she."
A hint of a smile crept across Josh's face as Tyler read their reading assignment aloud for the both of them. Even though his throat eventually grew sore from so much talking, Tyler read and read until he had finally finished the assigned section.
Josh had fallen asleep a few paragraphs ago, but luckily he hadn't missed anything important. Tyler laid down next to Josh, and put the book on the bedside table. He kissed Josh's cheek. "Night, Romeo."
