Ueda Takao

Note - the reason he isn't given an anime despite the fact I use a Naruto template is because he is very easily adapted into any series.

*~*~*~

Basic Information

Name: Ueda Takao

Meaning: High ; Respectful Hero

Gender: Male

Age: 37-38

Country: Sound

Village: Otagakure/Sound Village

Rank: Missing Nin

Team: None

Appearance: Takao has a rather average appearance. He is 5'7" and weighs about 175 lbs. He's not exactly the most muscled individual, having relied more on genjutsu as a child and only fighting hand-to-hand on the rarest occasion. Then again, he barely fights anyway, also giving him a rather unscathed appearance for someone who was a ninja. His black hair spikes to the left, and his dark blue eyes always have a gleam in them. On most occasions Takao bares a soft grin, only varying when it grows into a smile that typically causes his eyes to close. His skin is rather pale, also an oddity considering he had once been a shinobi. It is more pronounced by his tendency to wear dark clothing.

History: Takao was born in a small village in the Land of Fire to a large family. He was a middle child of five children. There would have been seven, but his second oldest sibling, the oldest boy, died when he was five during a mission and a baby sister was miscarried when he was seven. It was around the time of his brother's Takao began to realize something. Whereas others were truly hurt by the sudden death of his brother, Takao felt absolutely nothing. He had always noticed he felt very little emotion compared to his other siblings, but he'd always brushed that off like any little child would. It was only seeing even his three year old sister in tears realizing her brother was suddenly gone that made him think he may be abnormal.

His time in the Academy didn't change this. Although he had to run an hour every day to and from the Academy, he enjoyed it greatly. Not because of the ninja skills, though. They were useful, yes, but it was because he was able to see people. Takao never felt a connection with them, but it was always fascinating seeing how emotions made them react to things. This interest lead to a great love for psychology, and Takao spent as much time as he could at the library.

Another death occurred when he was nine. A boy in his class died from a disease. Once more everyone felt sad, but Takao realized something. Instead of confused as usual or even sad like a normal person, Takao felt intrigued by the concept. This lead to another event that greatly worried his parents – Takao began "playing" with animals. Usually this entailed either killing them or putting them on the verge of death just to see how they'd react. It was greatly confusing because Takao had learned what others wanted from him, and always acted accordingly, so they expected him to be a nice and sweet child.

They talked to Takao about it, and they even thought they had fixed it. Instead, though, Takao just hid his "unusual" interest better. He became more skilled in acting and more intrigued by all the emotions things felt, because as far as he was aware, he barely felt anything. When he became a shinobi, it became even worse. He grew a fondness of genjutsu, and began to use it every chance he could to enact terrible visions upon opponents to see how they'd react. He began to "play" with his opponents as well. Not only this, but he began to manipulate his team-mates, only then realizing how easily "bonds" could be "formed" and "played" with. But he still remained in society as an upstanding child with great potential.

The only one who seemed to notice how off he was was another individual who was experimenting in Konoha – Orochimaru. He watched the child grow, intrigued by his actions and mannerisms. Because of this, when Takao was finally confronted on how he acted when he killed his team-mates simply because he was so intrigued by what the effect would be, Orochimaru more than happily let him in.

Personality: Takao is a superb actor and a very twisted individual. There isn't a time he is aware of that he ever felt anything remotely human. Simply an intrigue in what human emotions were like. He also has this tendency to view life and death as a game, giving him a habit of toying with it as much as he can. Also because of his interest in emotions, he will do whatever type of experiment he can to see the affects it has on people.

For the most part, the only genuine feeling he has is curiosity, amusement, and disappointment if an experiment fails. He has no qualms with killing those who annoy him as long as he won't draw enough attention that he'll have to stop playing with his toys – as he considers anyone who grabs his attention or he is experimenting on. The only reason he is under Orochimaru is because it gives him every opportunity to sate his curiosity.

As previously mentioned, Takao has a great interest in psychology. He has diagnosed himself as a psychopath and sees nothing wrong with that. Takao also has a fascination with the concept of a predisposition before birth, having a hypothesis it has something to do with a soul and therefore claiming he must have none given his state. This is also what lead to him performing so much genjutsu, as it helps him get a better idea of reactions to different stimuli.

Takao is greatly observant, which is where his ability to act stemmed from. He is able to watch someone, judge what kind of personality he should adopt to get on their side, and become that type of person. It isn't hard when he has no other emotions to interfere with his created ones. This is how he remained as part of Konoha society for so long. However, as shown, his curiosity can overcome him very rarely, such as when he killed his team-mate and when his parents noticed his odd-ness.

Fighting Skills

Taijutsu: Although he knows it, he'd rather not use it. It's not as fun. But if necessary, he can use it. He's not a genius at it, but he's at a jounin level.

Ninjutsu: He has excellent chakra control, giving him a wide range of ninjutsu techniques. However, as his focus was genjutsu, he doesn't know much except for the basic ones. If he has ever seen a need to learn one, though, he simply approaches Orochimaru on it and learns it no matter what. But this is rare.

Genjutsu: His preferred art. Takao has learned a large array of genjutsu, all aimed to cause a person to react in a certain way. He excels in this, having devoted a great amount of time to make it that way.

Intelligence: Takao is a genius when it comes to book smarts and acting. This is because of his diligence and observation. However, he can never seem to quite grasp "street smarts," and it is only his skill and observation that keeps him alive half the time. His curiosity also takes from this, as in most cases a person would logically think giving a victim a knife and standing there stupid, he would simply to see what would happen.

Kekkei Genkai: None

Special: He has a great knowledge on the human body, and can use some medical ninjutsu. He had pestered Kabuto until he taught him some.

Trivia

1: I had to put irony in his name... I just had to.

2: He's ambidextrous.

3: Quote he often uses: "Show me, my toy, just what having a soul means."

4: He has a chance of becoming a main villain in the Tainted series.

5: He came about because black-talia-rose told me nobody is born evil.  Hah!
