Daisuke Nagato - One Piece
Full Name: Daisuke Nagano
Aliases (or nicknames): "Trouble Child" Daisuke
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Affiliations: Marines
Justice: More his own. He knows that not all pirates are bad and not all marines are good. Judges people by their actions, not titles. Just follows his own system of what is right and wrong.
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Specialty/Position: Swordsman (not sure if this counts since it's not there on this one. If not just tell me)/First Mate
Race: Human
Devil Fruit/Weapon: Daisuke uses a broad sword that is quite large and nearly impossible for a normal person to pick up that he calls Yakusoku. It took Daisuke a couple years just to fully get used to it. It is similar to Cloud Strife's Buster Blade from Final Fantasy or a broadsword from a game like World of Warcraft or something. Its blade is silver while the hilt is a dark grey. It is almost, if not always, by Daisuke or on his person. The sword has a Jolly Roger on it, which, since it's truly mostly silver, is more of an outline. The addition to it rather than it just being silver is an X mark over the left eye. Despite having a sword he is also proficient to hand-to-hand combat, Ichigo having taught him in this.
Fighting style - Decided to add this again. Unlike other swordsmen his sword isn't all he uses. He uses a variety of his sword and hand-to-hand in battle. He is great at adapting to what to use, and reacts quite quickly. Example, against a group of people, he can stick his blade into the ground, punch and kick someone, then suddenly soon, grabbing his sword, and attacking with it from there.
Attacks -
Meteor Plunge - Will jump from a high place, having the blade toward the ground. He'll grab the hilt while placing his feet on the flat part of the blade on the bottom, putting his own weight behind it. From there he tends to use some attacks the moment the blade stops.
Okay, seeing as I am going to lose Internet connection soon and can't think of any other attacks, tell me if you want to use him or not later. Then I'll send in other attacks. Or just later when I think of them.
Physical Appearance: Daisuke is quite fit, most of his body muscle rather than fat. This is because of all the training he went through just to easily handle the sword as well as all the training Ichigo and the academy put him through. He is 6'1 and weighs about 143 pounds. His light grey, nearly white, hair is slightly long and a bit spiky. His eyes are a crystal blue.
Clothing: He wears a coat similar to Coby's, only black and with gold lining. He varies between having it zipped up and leaving it open to reveal a short sleeve navy blue shirt, loose black pants that allow for easy fighting, and sneakers that have metal plating on the bottom both for painful kicks and so the blade doesn't pierce his feet when he puts them on there. There is a strap that goes around his body to hold Yakusoku.
History: Most of his life Daisuke has been despised. His father was Daichi Nagano, a well known swordsman for the Silver Marked. They were a pirate crew thought to have a chance of making their captain the next pirate king. His mother and father were both part of the crew. Believing the pirate life wasn't safe for their child, Daichi one day took a rowboat and Daisuke to the Marine town of Ravista. The man had only reached around a third way through the town before the Marines descended on him. It probably would have been smarter to arrive at night, but Daichi knew the man he wanted to see would be leaving that night. That very man appeared only moments after he was stopped, an annoyed look on his face. He demanded to know what he was doing there, to which Daichi responded it was nice to see him again, too. The man, Ichigo Nagano, was his older brother and high up in the marines. It was the only reason Daichi hadn't been killed upon spotting despite being from a well known pirate crew. Ichigo demanded to know again, and this time, rather than joking, Daichi held out a slipping baby Daisuke in a bundle of cloth. It hurt Daichi, knowing what was about to happen, but it had to be done to keep him safe. The sea was no place for a child, especially not as a pirate. Life would be hard for Daisuke, but he'd be safe. Daichi told Ichigo he wanted him to take his son and care for him. Having his own son, only a year or so older than Daisuke, Ichigo immediately understood Daichi's reasoning for coming there. While most of the marines shouted it was absurd to even think the child of a pirate would be taken in by a marine, Ichigo simply stepped forward and extended his hands. The moment Ichigo had a good grip, Daichi suddenly smiled, said he'd see his brother next time, and threw a smoke bomb down to conceal himself. While the marines tried to recuperate, Daichi escaped, Ichigo not able, and not entirely wanting to, go after his brother because of the baby in his arms.
Daisuke was raised knowing of his heritage. After all, how could the Nagano family keep it a secret when everyone in town made it known they didn't trust or really like Daisuke? They knew pirate blood ran through his veins, and believed he'd be the same as his father and mother. Daisuke was greatly loved in his own home, and because of this he could deal with the prejudice he faced from the townspeople. He was actually a good kid, taught to help and follow justice by Ichigo. His wife, Maiko, had once been a marine before she was pregnant with Daisuke's cousin, Keito, so he didn't really have any bad influences. When he was out with town he'd help wherever he could and was usually friendly even if others were angry with him. He had been told many times the only way to prove himself to others was to show them who he was rather than let them continue to view him as the son of a pirate. Things were actually growing to be easy for him by the time he was twelve. He was going to join the academy to be taught to be a marine soon, wanting to uphold justice like he'd been taught, and bring the bad pirates to justice. After the few attacks by pirates Daisuke, like many others, was biased and thought all pirates were bad at the time.
A couple days after he began training, Ichigo suddenly came home with a grave look on his face. When Maiko asked what was wrong, Ichigo placed down the newspaper. On the front page is spoke of the Silver Marked pirates being taken out by one of the Shichibukai. Even if he knew that was his father and mother's crew, Daisuke felt nothing once he found out. If anything it was just a dull throb of pain since he knew nothing about the man and woman whose DNA he held. It seemed unimportant and Daisuke was going to let it go, but a week later Ichigo suddenly told him he was going to take him to the woods for some special training. Daisuke, confused since it meant he'd have to miss school for a while, followed Ichigo to the forest. There was a cabin there, and a man as well Ichigo introduced as Hajime. Daisuke had expressed a want to train with a sword, and Ichigo said Hajime was the best swordsman he knew. Excited by the prospect, Daisuke eagerly agreed to train with the new man.
The following days were spent with a lot of training, even a few sparring matches with Hajime. The man had a large broadsword on his back, but he only used a regular sword similar to the one he gave Daisuke to use. Every evening they had dinner Hajime made, and he seemed awfully curious about Daisuke's thoughts and life. With every topic Hajime brought up he asked about Daisuke's opinion. Daisuke liked Hajime. He was a good hearted, joyful man who, even if sarcastic and strict, was like a fatherly figure toward Daisuke. It was also rare they disagreed about things. Until one time when he was reading the newspaper and Hajime brought up the recent deaths of the Silver Marked pirates. Hajime asked Daisuke if he believed all pirates deserved to die, to which Daisuke replied all pirates should be brought to justice. Hajime disagreed, pointing out one never knew a person's reason for what they were doing, including why they were a pirate. Some pirates, like Luffy of the Strawhat pirates, had helped more people than he had hurt. This only made Daisuke scoff and point out Luffy had gone against the government, which made him bad. The government stood for good, and those opposed to it were bad. Although it was obvious Hajime still disagreed, he dropped it, not wanting to anger Daisuke.
During his fifth week training with Hajime a group of pirates attacked Ravista. When Daisuke found out about this, he jumped at the news, saying he had to protect his town from the pirates. Although Hajime tried to convince him not to go, Daisuke took off, taking the sword Hajime had given him. Daisuke arrived at the village while the marines were strategizing. Once he arrived, Daisuke tracked down Keito, seeing as he spotted most of the other academy members, demanding an explanation. Keito told him about the attacks and Ichigo's absence due to a mission. Another Marine Captain was to be sent. Keito had been about to say something else when the second in command stepped forward to speak to the marines then. He said that in the pirates last attack a few people had been taken hostage and that were demanding beli and freedom in return for them. At first Daisuke paid little attention to the list. It didn't matter who they had taken, he'd help to get them back either way. That was until he heard the name Maiko Nagano among them. Both Daisuke and Keito stared in shock. How had their mother/aunt been captured? She should easily be able to take down any pirates! Since others knew the name, they asked as well. It turned out she'd done it to protect another girl who was in Daisuke and Keito's class. When Keito demanded to know what they were going to do, the second in command told him what he said the approaching captain had told him - wait. They couldn't just let the pirates go free, even if it meant a few citizens lives. In the end it would save more. Even if it was obvious nobody liked the orders, they knew they had to be followed. And all did.
Except Daisuke. While the others were distracted talking strategy, an enraged Daisuke sneaked out of the base to find the pirate ship. It wasn't hard since it wasn't that far from the shore. Daisuke grabbed a small row boat and made his way to the ship. The pirate who saw him saw it was just a kid. The captain simply laughed it off, and when Daisuke "sneaked" onto the ship he was ambushed. The pirates brought him to the top deck with the others where the captain stood with the other captives. The captain laughed at Daisuke's efforts, telling him he was a foolish boy for even trying to play hero. After asking just who it was who drove him to do it, he saw Daisuke's eyes flicker to Maiko, and instantly he understood she was important to him. Thinking he should show the child what happens when a boy tries to be a hero, the captain walked toward Maiko, knife in hand, and told Daisuke he was going to cut her throat open in front of him. He snapped, rushing forward and attacking him with the blade the pirates hadn't checked him for because of his age. The blade pierced the pirate captain in the leg, making him cry out and fall back. Enraged by the attack, the captain ordered his men to punish Daisuke. The ones who listened without hesitation began to step toward him, planning on beating him to a pulp. Maiko yelled at him to run, but Daisuke stood rooted to the spot, trying to recall what Hajime had taught him.
As if the thought summoned him, a man suddenly appeared on the railing of the ship, crying out an attack name as he leapt forward, broadsword in hand. The strike sent the men scurrying as it slammed into the deck to Daisuke's left. Hajime had appeared, and he warned that the next person to take a step toward the boy would regret it. It was then he brought up the broadsword Daisuke had only seen in its scabbard. And now he saw the mark just above the hilt - a silver Jolly Roger with an X over one of the eyes. The symbol of the Silver Marked. While "Hajime" took out any pirates that stepped forward, Daisuke began to understand just what was going on. Hajime had appeared only a little after the Silver Marked pirates were taken out. Now a great swordsman had appeared with a great interest in Daisuke and willing to train him. But it was impossible. He was a pirate. Pirates were bad people. Yet he knew, without a shadow of a doubt, it was not Hajime, but Daichi Nagano who stood before him. Daisuke could only watched in complete disbelieve as every arrogant pirate stepped forward only to be taken out. Most began to jump ship to avoid the same fate, but others listened to the pirate captain's cries to take out the new intruder.
By the time he was finished, every pirate had been tied up so they couldn't do anything. Daichi also untied the hostages, telling Maiko to take the other hostages to the mainland on the boat Daisuke had ridden on. He wanted to talk to Daisuke and would do so on the ship he had brought to save Daisuke. Even though Daisuke protested, Maiko told him to do as Daichi said. Reluctantly Daisuke followed what his aunt told him to do. While Maiko and the others left, Daisuke and Daichi took their time. Daichi pointed out the moment they reached land he'd be grabbed and he needed to talk to his son before he was arrested. At first they were quiet, but then Daisuke finally gave in when they reached the boat and asked Daichi why he was there. Daichi remained calm, telling him it had been to spend time with his son and help him to become a great Marine. After all, from what he had gained while talking to him in the forest, that was what Daisuke truly wanted to be. Daisuke was still confused. Like he'd thought a few times that day, all pirates were bad. But here this man was, not only defeating the other pirates, but also training him to become a great marine. Understanding his confusion, Daichi laughed, asking if Ichigo had not yet taught him a man should not be taught by his title, but by his actions. Both of them had been taught the same thing by their father. Finally Daisuke demanded why Daichi had become a pirate. Ichigo was a marine, and their father had been a marine. Once again Daichi seemed amused, replying that it was because he didn't want to answer to people above when there were those there who weren't of good, true justice, but simply using the title. By the time they reached shore, Daisuke wasn't any less confused. After all, how was he supposed to understand this man? Daichi was a man he had hated for so long, but he was Hajime, the man he had begun to look up to as a fatherly figure.
As Daichi had predicted, the marines instantly descended on the pirate. They unarmed the man and put him in the base. Daichi didn't fight at all. In fact he was quite cooperative, even joking around with the Marines like they were old friends. This only confused Daisuke further seeing as even the marines seemed to like him. Shouldn't they all dislike him? Maybe it was because it was "Hajime", or maybe it was curiosity, but Daisuke found himself visiting Daichi in prison. Now instead of talking, though, he let Daichi speak, telling him of their journeys. In a way, Daisuke felt like he was getting an idea of who his father really was. After a couple of weeks Ichigo appeared, only it wasn't just Ichigo. Another man, Haruto, was with him. He was the captain that had originally been coming with Ichigo. Upon hearing of Daichi's appearance, Haruto had been sent to investigate, the higher ups questioning how Ichigo's brother could not only be alive, but close to Ichigo's home town. Haruto was sent to make sure the final Silver Marked was served justice.
Haruto demanded that Daichi be brought to the town square where he and Ichigo were. He wanted to prove where Ichigo's loyalties lied. Since Daisuke had been with Daichi when the marines came to take him, Daisuke stuck with the group. Others had already gathered around, making Daisuke greatly worry. Daisuke only stopped when the reached the middle of the crowd, and that was because Daichi stopped him upon seeing Haruto. A horrible understanding had passed over his face, and that only made Daisuke worry more. No matter how easy it was to forget, Daichi was a famous pirate. Would he be killed?
As the two were expecting, Haruto announced Daichi Nagano would be executed then and there. What they didn't expect was for Haruto's next announcement - it would be by his brother, Ichigo Nagano. That silenced everyone. Most citizens hated and feared pirates, but to have a brother kill his brother? Haruto simply handed him the sword he had, then told Ichigo either he killed Daichi or he would be considered an associate with a pirate and removed from the marines. Once again everyone was silent. Daisuke stood, finding himself hating Haruto more and more. Nothing about this was true justice. It was just sick. Ichigo could only stare, dumbfounded, holding the blade in his hand. Daisuke was convinced Ichigo would fix this. There had to be a way, right? After a couple minutes passed at Ichigo even attempting to negotiate, Haruto pulled out a gun and pointed it at his head. Either Ichigo killed Daichi, or he'd be treated as a traitor. If not for Haruto's own men mingling with the other marines, Haruto would have been attacked then. As it was, Ichigo could do nothing still. Daisuke was about to give up in charge Haruto anyway when it happened.
Daichi suddenly rushed forward, not giving Ichigo time to react. The blade pierced him, running him all the way through. He fell to the ground. Before he even hit Daisuke was rushing to his side. Nobody moved, but Haruto did tell Daisuke to get away, to which he ignored. Daisuke fell to his knees by Daichi, feeling like someone had just stabbed him as well. Somehow Daichi was smiling, a look of relief on his face. Daisuke understood why he'd charged the blade. During the time together he had learned much about Daichi. It had been to make sure Ichigo wasn't harmed. How had a pirate done something so much more heroic than a marine? Daichi placed a hand on Daisuke's head, and spoke words he had heard many times from Hajime but only now truly believed. "Don't judge a man by his title, Daisuke, but the actions the do with it." Only now he added more, telling Daisuke not to hate the marines for Haruto's justice. Instead he should become a marine as he truly wanted and bring justice to those who needed it as well as try to show the true justice to those who were corrupted. As Daichi was dying, he asked Daisuke to promise him he'd try to do that. Through his tears, Daisuke promised. The two remained there for a few moments longer before Daichi's life left him.
Haruto approached Daisuke, telling him to move away from the pirate, to which Daisuke snapped back he was not a pirate, but Daichi was his father. It was hard for the Nagano's to move on after that. Although Daisuke continued his training, he was shut away in himself. The only time a true passion showed from him was when he practiced with the blade Daisuke had asked Ichigo to give him - Daichi's blade, now named Yakusoku to always remind Daisuke of his promise. Daisuke slowly did move on still, but he was different before. Although he still acted the same around his friends and family, around others he was closed off until he understood them. Those who judged him because of Yakusoku, now without a sheathe showing the Silver Marked Jolly Roger were given his more cold, sarcastic side. He no longer tried to prove himself to others as a boy who will be a great marine despite being the child of a pirate. Now he wanted to prove he'd be a great marine because of his father's teaching, and if they couldn't understand by his words, they'd learn by his true actions as a marine. Because he was going to become a great marine, just as he had promised his father.
Personality: Like I said in the history, he didn't open up as fast with people, instead simply listening and trying to judge a person before he decides how he acts around them. This, at least, goes with marines and anyone of a usually well known title. To regular citizens he is always kind, polite, and helpful. The way the other people act decides how Daisuke will react to them. He has been moved around a lot in the marines, giving him the "Troubled Child" title because every captain he has been put under has shown some sort of power abuse. Until Daisuke has the ability to stop that, he'd rather serve under someone he believes follows true justice. To those who do, or just around his family and friends, he shows his true self. He's a nice, caring guy who enjoys having fun and joking around. He treats his friends like family, doing anything for them. Despite the fact he'd listen to orders of a real captain (to him), if it contradicts something he believes, he will step up and say so. If it's something bad and abusing power, he will also say so, and if the captain still doesn't listen, either request to be moved and (if that doesn't work since people do want him - he's strong and family of some strong marines) if that doesn't work, make the captain hate him until he's demanded to move, usually in the form of sarcasm, disobedience, and often arguing about what is wrong. Daisuke will do whatever he must to keep the innocent safe, knowing that is the duty of the marines. Ever since his father's death, he has had a bit of a soft spot for those without parents. It's something he can't explain, seeing as he has had Maiko and Ichigo, people like his parents, but he feels he understands better what it's like to lose them. If anyone insults him because of the sword he wears, or insults his father or the Silver Marked pirates, he can be very defensive. After all, his father is his hero, even more so than Ichigo, despite being a pirate. Unlike before, though, he doesn't go out of his way to prove to them what he thinks because he believes one day he'll be strong and known enough he can prove it doesn't matter the title, but how it is used, including his own "Troubled Child" alias. Although he believes later on he can become a captain, for now he doesn't want to be, deciding he wants to wait until he knows without a shadow of a doubt he can protect every person who would be under him, and would joke with Alexander (if he does get on his crew, if not just whoever crew he is on if he likes the person) about how when he gets becomes a captain, Alexander and his crew can be under him. He never means it, but he likes all of the crew and sees them as family, so he'd tease them often.
Likes: Almost all fruits and vegetables, Chinese food, sweet tea, training, people who follow a real justice, his family and friends, hanging out in the forest, just being outside, meditating, and annoying those who abuse their power.
Dislikes: People who abuse their power, closed spaces, crabs (bad experience as a kid), bad weather, anyone hurting his friends, cursing, alcohol, anyone who insults the Silver Marked pirates or his father, and being forced to do things.
Goals: To become a great Marine like he promised.
