(Pride Rock) Third Persons POV

"I still can't believe there will be two new cubs joining us soon, I'm so excited" Dwala cheers. As she and two of her sisters hunt.

"Settle down Dwala, you'll scare the herd" Diku tells her little sister mildly annoyed.

"Quiet both of you" Naanda tells them. With their sister Sarabi the queen due to give birth soon and the lead huntress Sarafina also due to give birth. Naanda is now in charge of getting food for the pride. Mufasa is out patrolling the boundary of the pride lands daily to ensure the pride lands is safe for the future cubs arrivals. While his brother Scar is left home minding the hormonal future mother lionesses.

Anyway back to the hunt. They are hunting a herd of zebra, as Sarabi says she has a craving for zebra. Naanda spots an injured male, that had obviously been kicked out of the herd. After challenging the leader for breeding rights. She points it out to the other two and they fan out, encirling it. Dwala scares the herd and they scatter leaving the injured male behind, as they scatter & run. Naanda and Diku corner him by a boulder.

When Dwala joins them. She and Naanda pin him down and Diku kills him with a single bite. They take the kill back to pride rock. To see Mufasa had returned. Along with Nahko, Sarafina's mate. "How was patrol?" Naanda asks him.

"It was good, not a hyena or rogue in sight" he states.

"Nice catch" Nahko says eying the zebra.

"Pregnant lionesses first" Diku tells him. He nods his head as Sarafina appears with Sarabi. Mufasa and Nahko greet them warmly. Rubbing down their bodies chaffing contently. Before allowing them to eat.

"How are they brother?" Mufasa asks Scar.

"Temperamental" Scar grumbles.

"You would be to if you had a cub kicking your ribs repeatedly" Sarafina snaps.

"Or constant cramps" Sarabi adds.

"Could it be contractions?" Dwala asks her excited. Sarabi swallows her mouthful of zebra. Becoming thoughtful.

"Now that you mention it, it could be" Sarabi states. She had never had a cub before. So this is all very new to her and Sarafina. If only their mothers were around to guide them. Or any female who had had cubs before.

"Scar go alert Rafiki" Mufasa orders. Scar leaves grumbling about not getting to eat. "You had better continue eating Sarabi, you'll need your strength if you are in labor" he tells her. She nods her head and continues to eat. Once she had her fill with Sarafina. The others all ate, leaving a leg for Scar. Who has still not returned from fetching Rafiki.

"I'm gonna go see what's taking Rafiki and Scar so long" Dwala announces. The others nod and she rushes off to Rafiki's tree. "Rafiki!" she calls.

"Ah Dwala, how may I help you?" he asks once he swung down to her.

"Sarabi maybe in labor, where's Scar?" she asks him.

"I saw him heading for the watering hole" he states pointing towards it. "I'll go to pride rock at once, you go get him" he tells her. She nods her head and takes off towards the water hole. Cursing Scar for not following orders. Where she finds Scar looking at something thoughtfully in the tall grass.

"What are you looking at? You were suppose to be getting Rafiki for Sarabi" Dwala reminds him annoyed. Swishing her tail sharply.

"I was, then I heard something and choose to investigate it" he tells her. "Look" he says nodding at the tall grass. She approaches him and sees a dark new born female cub.

"Where did she come from?" Dwala asks confused as the cub mews for it's mother. "Where's it's mother?" she asks Scar. As she sniffs the cub.

"No idea, I was deciding on what to do" Scar tells her.

"Well we can't leave her here alone" she states raising her head. "You take her to pride rock and explain the situation. I'll go look for her mother" she tells him.

"I'm older then you, you take it back and I'll search for it's mother" Scar tells her annoyed. He is the crowned prince, he shouldn't be bossed around by a hunter.

"No, you are the current crowned prince. You have to be there for the birth of your niece or nephew. I'm the best tracker, I'll look for the mother" Dwala tells him. Before taking off leaving him with the newborn cub. He growls annoyed and feels something on his paw. He looks down to see the cub laying on it and sighs in annoyance. As it mews for it's mother.

"I better not regret this" he grumbles. He picks it up as gently as possible and heads back to pride rock with her. To see the others all waiting outside the den as Sarabi gives birth. He places the cub down, before sitting on his hunches.

"Brother, whose cub is this? Where did it come from?" Mufasa demands when he sees the dark brown cub at his brother's feet.

"No idea, found it near the watering hole with no mother. I brought it here as it wouldn't survive the coming night alone. Dwala went to search for it's mother" Scar explains. He feels the cub lay on his paw again and moves it away. "Annoying thing" he grumbles.

"She thinks your her mother" Diku says teasingly.

"I am not a lioness" Scar snaps. The cub lays on his paw again. He sighs in annoyance.

"Defiantly seems to have taken liking to you brother" Mufasa tells him with a chuckle. Suddenly a mew is heard from inside the den. Rafiki appears.

"You have a son my king" he tells Mufasa with a bow. Who smiles and goes to greet his new son. "Who is this little one?" Rafiki asks picking up the dark cub.

"Scar found it alone by the watering hole" Nahko tells him.

"Dwala is out looking for the mother" Naanda adds.

"I doubt she'll find her" Rafiki states sadly.

"Why not?" Scar demands as Rafiki puts the cub back by his feet.

"I saw a rogue lioness leave the pride lands at noon. She went to the out lands near the elephant graveyard. Hyena territory. I've never seen her before, I don't think she knows the area really well. She would have not left her newborn cub alone all afternoon" Rafiki explains.

"You think something happened to her?" Diku asks.

"Probably" Rafiki says.

"I'm gonna go help Dwala look, Diku you coming?" Nahko asks. She nods her head. "I'll be back soon my love" he tells Sarafina. Before the pair left to go help Dwala search for the cub's missing mother. The others go greet the new prince Scar somehow being left with the rogue cub.

(Time skip)

Sarabi nursed the rogue cub along with her new son, Simba. While the pride waited for news on the cub's birth mother. Scar was happy not to have the cub annoying him anymore and went to his cave. Until her heard the other three return. He goes to see if they found the cub's mother.

"What news?" Mufasa asks quietly. So as not to wake the now sleeping cubs.

"We followed the mother's scent trail to hyena territory. We found a dead lioness with similar colouring to the cub. Based on her scent, she was the cubs mother" Diku states.

"She put up a hell of a fight" Nahko states as he lays beside Sarafina.

"That poor cub" Dwala says sadly bowing her head.

"Any sign of a father?" Mufasa asks.

"None" Nahko tells him. Mufasa sighs and looks at his tired queen. Then at the sleeping rogue cub, beside his son.

"What do you think we should do Sarabi?" he asks her.

"I think we should keep her, she won't survive alone" she states. "I'll happily nurse her with our son" she adds.

"I'll nurse her too" Sarafina adds.

"You want to adopt a rogue cub into the pride?" Scar asks them shocked.

"Wouldn't be the first time" Naanda reminds him.

"She's right, your father was a rogue before he meet your mother as a teenager" Sarabi reminds him. "Besides I think she'll be a fine huntress in future" she adds.

"But who will raise it? You and Sarafina can't raise it and your own cubs. The others can't nurse it, either" Scar tells them.

"Sarabi and I can take turns nursing her. Besides she choose who she wants to raise her" Sarafina tells him. Scar looks at her confused and suddenly feels a familiar weight on his paw and sighs.

"I'm not raising this thing" Scar snaps lightly.

"She's not a thing, she's a cub" Sarabi retorts.

"Besides, she needs a father and a mother. Sure Sarafina and Sarabi can nurse her. Teach her to be a huntress. But she still needs a father to look out for her and she clearly has a bond with you already" Naanda tells him.

"The great kings know why" Diku states.

"We'll help you brother, you won't be alone" Mufasa assures him.

"Fine, I'll look after her" Scar grumbles.

"What will you name her?" Dwala asks him curious.

"Uru, after our mother" he says looking at Mufasa.

"I think she'd love that" Mufasa tells him. The cub mews happily. "I think she likes her name" he says with a chuckle.

"Sleep here until she starts to ate meat, it'll be easier nurse her" Sarabi tells Scar. He nods his head. He picks up Uru and goes to a corner. Laying down and curls around her. She nuzzles into his mane happily and they both fall asleep. The rest of the pride soon follow.
