Don't Feel Those Feelings! Hold Them in Instead!

"Andrew, what are we doing here?"

He ruffled my hair. "I need to pick up some papers. I told you that you could stay with the cast in the theater! You didn't have to come."

I hugged his legs. "But I wanna stay with you!"

He patted my head. "OK. But you gotta promise you'll be a good girl."

"I will! Come on!"

We walked inside and Andrew gave me his phone to play with while he did his paperwork stuff.

Soon he finished and we headed back to the theater!

"Hi, everyone!"

"Welcome back, Lila," Nikki said. I stopped.

"I like Lila! You guys can call me that."

A guy who Andrew told me was named Josh walked up to me.

"How are you so comfortable with everything, little Delia?"

I shrugged. "You guys are super nice to me! I love you guys!"

Andrew ruffled my hair. I like when he does that.

"Come on, Dee. Let's go get you some furniture for your new room."

I gasped. "My own room? Thanks, Andrew!"

I gave him a hug, but he looked confused.

"What do you mean 'your own room?' Did you not have one before?"

I shook my head. "I lived in a small house with my dad, and we shared a room, and then I was sent to a closet for a while, and then-"

"A closet?!"

"Yeah. It was when I was with those other people. So yeah, I never had my own room."

Andrew took my hand. "Come on, Dee. Let's go home."

I squeezed his hand. "Where's that? I haven't seen a real home before."

Andrew smiled. "You'll see. Wanna stay with Nikki while I get it ready?"

I nodded. "I like Nikki. And Josh. And everyone in your cast. They're super nice!"

Andrew ruffled my hair. "Well, I'm glad you like them. I can tell they all like you too."

I grinned and ran over to Nikki. "Hi, Nikki!"

She turned around and I gave her a big hug. She laughed.

"Hey, Lila. How are you?"

"I'm good! Andrew is gonna show me a home!"

Nikki smiled. "Come on, I wanna show you something."

"Ooh. Where are we going?"

"Nowhere far. Come on!"

I followed her to a room full of mirrors and funny looking clothes. "What's this?"

Nikki grinned. "Welcome to my dressing room! How do you like it?"

I looked around. "It's so cool! These are your costume thingys?"

Nikki smiled again. "Yeah. I'm glad you like it. Wanna go and check out the rest of the theater?"

I nodded. "Yeah! Let's go!"

She took me to all the really cool spots in the theater. It was awesome!

"And here we are, back to where we started," Nikki said. I grinned.

"This place is awesome! Thanks for showing me around, Nikki."

She smiled and gave me a hug. "I'm glad you like it. Oh look, there's Andrew!"

I turned around and ran over to him. "Andrew!"

He gave me a hug and picked me up. "Hey, Dee! Ready to go home?"

I nodded. "Is it a good home?"

Andrew smiled. "It's better than what you've been through. Come on."

He put me down and we walked over to his apartment. Wait, what?

"Andrew, where's home? And why are we back at your apartment?"

He just smiled. "Close your eyes, Dee."

I blinked, but did what he told me. After a while, he told me to open them, and I did.

"Whoa! What's this place?"

I was in that guest room! But it was so much different than I remembered it!

The walls were the same blue color as my blanket, and the bed was small enough for me to sleep comfortably, with blue sheets and a greenish blanket. And there was so much blue furniture!

"Andrew! Is this- my own room?"

I turned around and saw him grinning. "It is! All of this is yours, Delia!"

I gave him a huge hug. "You're the best ever, Andrew! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

I ran around my room in amazement. "It's so perfect!"

Andrew ruffled my hair. "I knew you'd like it. The same color as your blanket, right?"

I nodded. "It's beautiful. Thank you."

Andrew kissed the top of my head. "You're welcome, Dee. Come on, I'll make you some- what do you wanna eat before the show?"

I thought about it. "Garlic bread!"

Andrew turned around. "Garlic bread?"

I nodded. "It's the best thing my dad would give me when we had enough money. I really like it. Can you buy some?"

Andrew signed. "Sure thing, Dee. I swear, my next paycheck will be wasted on you."

I blinked. "What?"

Andrew smiled. "That's not important, Dee. Come on, you can stay with Josh in the theater."

I nodded and took his hand. We walked over to the theater and I walked through it to find the stage.

"Hey, little girl."

I turned around. Some guy in grey clothes and messy hair was mopping the floor.

"Oh, sorry to bother you, Mister! Do you know where the-"

I forgot to ask Andrew what the musical's name was. The man smiled nicely.

"You seem lost. Come over here, I can help you."

I nodded and followed him. He lead me to a door and told me to wait in the room, and then someone from Andrew's cast would get me. I walked inside and realized it was super cramped and tiny.

I turned around, about to leave, but the door slammed shut.

"Hey! Hey! Let me out of here!"

I heard a loud click, and I started pounding the door. "Get me out of here! Help! Help!"

I started crying. I was alone, it a dark closet, with nowhere to go. I just wanted Andrew.

"Someone help me!"

I pounded the door again, but it didn't budge. I was stuck.

Andrew's POV:

I made it to the theater after getting Delia her garlic bread. How was this her favorite? I wouldn't know.

When I got to the theater, I asked Josh if he'd seen Delia, but he told me she never came. Nikki and Rory hadn't seen her either.

"Oh no. No, that's not possible. She's only six! Where could she be?"

I started looking for her. She must be scared, or alone. Or, I didn't want to think about it, but maybe her biological father took her. I had to find her.

I looked for 20 minutes, but couldn't spot her. I was going mad.

"Where is she? Delia! Dee? It's Andrew! Where are you?!"

I took a deep breath. "I have to find her."

"But the show starts in 12 minutes," Rory told me, "And you don't have an understudy. Delia- We'll look for her during our breaks. Come on, Andrew."

I didn't want to stop looking for her. Delia, that sweet little girl, she was alone. And I needed to find her.

But how?
