Part 3
When we last left off, we were about to see who got custody of Crystal Collier
"Mr Collier. Case dismissed." The judge said.
Crystal felt her heart drop. This had to be a dream. She was sure that Orlando would win custody. She turned around and snuggled up to Orlando, crying for him not to let her go with her father.
"I know your scared but I promise I'll do everything to get you out of there." Orlando said, rocking her gently. Reluctantly, he let her go.
Crystal went with her father, not taking her eyes off of Orlando.
The ride home was the worst. Neither of them spoke and Crystal was thrown in her room the minute they got in the door. Crystal began to cry. She wanted Orlando. She wanted her dad.
That night, she snuck downstairs to get some food, only see food sitting on the table. She sat down and looked at the plate. It was only a glass of water, mashed potatoes, and bread. It was still good though.
As soon as she finished eating, she ran back up to her room and jumped into bed. Suddenly, a thought occurred to her. She mentally kicked herself. She had to go back to the set tomorrow to film more. She would see Orlando. Now with more confidence, she fell asleep.
The next morning however, Crystal felt sick. She groaned in pain and got up. She put on a black t-shirt and some soft pants and headed downstairs.
At this point, she felt worse. But she was determined to find Orlando.
She saw a piece of white bread sitting out. She picked it up and stuffed it into her mouth. She then ran to the car and got in.
When they got to the set, Crystal's vision was beginning to go blurry. She got out of the car and looked around as her fathers car sped away. She walked into the theatre, by which point she couldn't see anything. She collapsed. She began to panic and cried out for Orlando.
The last thing she remembered before passing out were strong arms wrapping around her and a soft voice saying, "I've got you. Stay with me now."
(At the hospital)
The first thing Crystal noticed when she woke up was how much her stomach hurt. She groaned and shifted onto her side. She opened her eyes, but everything was really blurry. She tried to focus her vision but couldn't. She began to cry.
Orlando woke up to the sound of someone crying. He looked over from the chair he was sitting in. Crystal was awake. He went over and wrapped his arms around her.
Crystal stiffened. Who was this? She began struggling.
"Crystal it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you. It's me Orlando. Shh shh now." Orlando soothed, rocking back and forth and rubbing her back.
Crystal began to calm down.
"Daddy. You came." Crystal said, wrapping her arms around his waist and hugging him tight.
Orlando let himself smile. He got a warm feeling when Crystal called him daddy. He knew it was time to tell Crystal what happened. He pulled Crystal away from him and looked into her eyes.
"While you were out, I went back to the courthouse to reopen the case. After some talking, we came to an agreement. You are now Crystal Bloom." Orlando said, allowing tears of happiness to fall.
It took a moment for Crystal to process everything, but when she did she began crying into his chest. She was Orlando's daughter now. She looked up at him. At this point he was a blob of colour.
"W-what's going to happen to my fath- old guardian?" Crystal asked, no longer calling the man who raised her her father.
Orlando sighed and kissed her forehead.
"H-he's in jail for child abuse." He said.
Crystal buried her face in Orlando's chest and cried.
"Thank you." Crystal said and snuggled close, finally feeling safe. She suddenly realized that she was feeling tired. She leaned into him and closed her eyes.
"Try and sleep Crystal. I'll stay here with you." Orlando said, laying down and pulling her close.
Crystal woke up feeling sick. It was still nighttime. She moved closer to Orlando and shook him until he opened his eyes. He looked at her worried.
"Dad." She whimpered. "I-I think I'm gonna be sick." She said, holding her stomach.
Orlando nodded and grabbed a bucket that sat beside the bed. He set the bucket in front of Crystal and rubbed her back.
"It's okay. Just let it out." Orlando soothed, keeping his arm around her.
Unable to keep it in anymore, Crystal threw up. It hurt a bit but when she was finally done she felt a bit better. She leaned back into Orlando and sighed. She was tired.
"Feel any better?" Orlando asked, wrapping his arms around her.
Crystal shook her head and lay back down, suddenly feeling very cold. She shivered.
Orlando put his hand to Crystal's forehead. She had a fever.
"Wait here." Orlando said and went into the bathroom. A minute later he came out with a cool cloth in his hand. He lay it on Crystal's forehead and lay down beside her himself. Crystal looked up at him with scared eyes.
"Dad I know this is more then just a common flu. I can feel it. What happened after I passed out at the theatre?" Crystal asked weakly.
Orlando sighed. He knew that Crystal would ask him this eventually.
"Well after you passed out, your temperature spiked so much that it was beyond a common flu. I called 911 and got an ambulance. I followed them to the hospital. After they ran a few tests, t-they said that you had been p-poisoned." Orlando said.
Crystal nodded and sighed.
"I think I know who poisoned me and how they did it. My old guardian. In the middle of the night I snuck downstairs for food. When I got downstairs there was already food out. I ate it. Hunger seemed to cloud my thoughts. The next day I felt sick." Crystal said shifting a little.
Orlando nodded and pulled the blanket up to her chin.
Crystal smiled weakly.
"Thanks dad." She said, closing her eyes and shifting closer to him. Orlando pulled her into his arms and kissed her head.
"Try and get some sleep. You'll feel better if you do." He said, massaging the back of her head.
Crystal nodded and fell asleep to his gentle touch.
